When watching other videos of this band and their history, it is apparent that their chemistry allows them to write/record these songs with ease. Jim Root says himself in many interviews that he doesn't really care about theory. He just plays what sounds/feels right to him when he plays it--and he even admits that he doesn't even care about playing the solos exactly the same as the CD when they play live. You don't have to like all of their songs to be a fan. Just sayin...

Audio secrecy was their softest album and this one seems to be going back to the heavy route, how do you know how the next Slipknot album will turn out? What if they go a heavier route for their next album?

Audio Secrecy is such a diverse album and has something for everyone "Stone Sour " was too samey...,Come what(ever) May was pretty good, Audio Secrecy was the best in my opinion.
i was comparing them to the time period they came out in. stone sour and iowa, come what(ever) may and subliminal verses, and audio secrecy to all hope is gone.

Nah, this is the shit you knew you were going to get. Lol. All I'm saying is that you don't need to compare the two bands. You just like more Stone Sour ne than Slipknot... that's it... There's no "universal-godly" order for the bands of the world.
I've seen slipknot multiple times and they don't play their soft shit in concert. Stonesour on the other hand was pretty soft. That is why stonesour tours with bands like avenged a7x and slipknot tours with slayer. 2 completely different bands.
These songs pick me up when I feel low and deserted.

Stone Sour is one of those bands that gets better each album.

Btw, quit the fucking Slipknot vs Stone Sour bullshit. Both bands are amazing. If you don't think so, fine, that's your opinion. If you just like one of the bands, keep listening to that band, but don't go on this video commenting that the other band sucks or whatever. It just makes you look like an immature 12 year old who just found out about metal.
Corey said that this album is like a mix of The Wall by Pink Floyd and Dirt by Alice in chains, I don't know if he was joking when he said that or is he just an idiot. That statement is even worse than the one where Joey said that Vol 3 sounds like Neurosis. Neither Stone Sour or Slipknot will ever come close to those bands in terms of quality. Now this album isn't as nearly as bad as i though it will be cause Corey's voice saves this album from being horrible.

Atleast they are not selling out like most bands. If any of were true Stone Sour fans, you would know that Corey doesnt want to do that straight up hard core stuff anymore. He has grown up he wants to do music and he is doing a fucking kick ass job of it. Audio Secrecy was amazing.
Even though it's not the most popular Slipknot album, All Hope is Gone shows the most diversity to me in Corey Taylor's abilities. The album has so many different styles of Corey Taylor's voice in it from Sulfur to Dead Memories to Snuff to All Hope is Gone. Also listen to Slipknot's self-titled album and go from Wait and Bleed to Surfacing to Spit it Out to see just how talented Corey Taylor was even early on and he's only gotten better.
and 30/30/150 didnt have a slipknot feel? in all honesty, I am not a fan of these two songs at all, to me it just doesnt have the substance the older songs did, but in my history of listening to music, there is only one album from any band that I listen to every song on it and thats Reload, only one ever, so I know not all songs are going to be good and you cant just judge an album by any one given song. Its just something new, in life you either progress or you die, music is the same.

i started with slipknot 6 years ago... it took me only some months to become a stone sour fan at that time as their first record was heavily influenced by the same stuff iowa was...corey taylor
that being said u cant say its a shame... both bands belong together and reflect corey motherfucking taylor (dont get me wrong i love all members of both bands)
I already like this album way more than the previous two. The original Stone Sour cd is still my favourite, it was a bit more experimental and Corey's sound was better too. Good singing but still with a good roar hear and there, love it!
i guess i kind of did. haha. it just pisses me off when someone comes onto a video just hate on it. there are alot of artists/bands that i don't like but i don't go around on videos of them just so i can say something bad about them. wish people would show a little respect and only watch what they like is all.
I love how Corey and Jim are able to keep the sound between Stone Sour and Slipknot so different.

I guess the final question i have is, can SLIPKNOT impress me like SS has? My fingers are crossed. Neither bands have ever disappointed me, though!
How the hell can anyone hate on Audio Secrecy?? Oh it's not "heavy" enough? Use your ears people. That album was perhaps one of the best compilations of music ever written. Front to back, it's amazing. Problem is some of you cant listen to a song unless its dropping hardcore riffs in the intro. Go back, listen to Audio Secrecy. It's awesome.
like there hasnt been some Stone Sour in Slipknot since Vol3? circle and vermilion part 2 ring a bell? let alone snuff, till we die, and child of burning time on all hope.. as they mature and reconcile a bit of the insanity shit will become even more blurred, hate to say it but 'especially since Paul is gone now' welcome to growing up and letting shit go.
i never really consider them being nu metal sure they had elemnts of nu metal in there self titled album. but with slipknot they have there own sound to them no other band like them.. huge fan of them they got me into the extreme side of music. love pantera anthrax exodus.. right now listen to alot of death metal grind technical stuff..
Actually, SlipKnoT's later music got much more versatile after they started breaking away from the whole Nu-Metal trend. If you haven't already, try "Circle" and "Vermilion, Pt. 2" from Vol. 3 and "Snuff" and "Child Of Burning Time" from All Hope Is Gone. They have more of a Stone Sour feel, so you may like those songs at least.

Love these songs, but for the people who are saying that it's gonna kick ass (aka heavy-ish songs throughout) how do you know that? I mean, look at audio secrecy. It had Mission Statement, Digital, Unfinished and Bitter end, but it also had Pieces, Miracles and Imperfect. Hope the album will be epic! Plan on getting it for Christmas :D

uhm yeah... I mean to me Sipknot is going softer after Iowa! Proper heavy and anger Slipknot music was only the songs All Hope Is Gone ang Gementria...the others are good songs but they could be on a Stone Sour record....
Okay Audio Secrecy is not as heavy as Iowa but a much better effort than AHG. To me this two songs shows that they are heavier and better
Guess what they don't sound like slipknot when the singer,the lead guitarist, the aggressive (maybe not as much as slipknot but either way) style of riffing even the guitar he uses are exactly the same as slipknot. Maybe you should listen to Justin bieber and try to spot any differences if you are capable enough.
Every song from Stone Sour is gonna be good cuz they're all talented musicians and know how to put hooks in there to keep it interesting, but man these two songs sound way better sonically than Come Whatever May and Audio Secrecy. I love both those albums but the production quality and mixing on these is

its good but i don buy it. nothing here hears real to my. slipknot has real soul and groove, an this just a bunch of weak riffs and semy vocal melodies with stupid meaning. i prefer a towsand times a slipknot album than a stone sour, cause slipknot music last forever and stone sours, only carries a few plays. this is just my opinion.
well, that might apply for you, it doesn't for me - but music is a very subjective topic, so discussing about how it feels for someone won't lead to any point ;-) I enjoy the new songs, especially absolute zero.
where do you draw the line when bands share the singer? but for me stone sour didn't really sound like slipknot until now, this time some passages remind me of slipknot's style, at least to some degree... but in a positive way.
I've got to say I like limp bizkit, but Fred has nothing compared to Corey. Fred is a poser, a show man. Music wise if it wasn't for Wes, Sam and Otto, limp bizkit never existed. And yes there are great lyrics from Fred, but they aren't nothing next to a Corey song.
