Excellent video Jake very informative and eloquent, I come from watching your lego videos but am a financial enthusiast my self, so to speak, and it’s awesome to see you cover the investing world as well. Perhaps some philosophy videos in the future 🤔 lol
Morally reprehensible would have been hoarding ppe and selling at a huge markup. The gold is incidental as you had already done that for other reasons, the oil is just oil, not directly related to covid but you took advantage of fluctuations in the market.
Great video Jake. Since March I have been investing in various NASDAQ stocks, sometimes as day trades, and others with a longer term view. Despite being based in the UK I find it better to trade US stocks as I can trade free of commission charges using a Metal plan within my Revolut bank account. I have been mostly trading in online shopping stocks, electric car stocks and a little bit of Bitcoin and a small number of related tokens, which I have traded on and off for the last 3 years. Keep up the videos, love them.
This is a very interesting topic, I have been discussing this a lot as I also had multiple unintended profits. Let me put upfront: I did try to pay part of the unintended profits in some way to people who need it more in this time. My profits: - my company remains paying me travel allowance even I work already 9 months home. Yes, I have to pay still taxes and maintenance for my car, but I save per month ~200 euro petrol cost which I would have normally used. Used part of the money as tips for small companies in surrounding to help them survice this time. - In lockdown period my daughter could not go to to daycare; she had to stay home and all costs were reimbursed. However, my employer stated clearly taking care of family is most important and we do not have to take holidays for that: so I basically got normal salary, and no costs on daycare. In the end we supported the daycare center itself. - In fact I work in semiconductor business and our company is doing extremely well in this time. Shares are going skyhigh.... - we had booked holidays for Italy (Lombardy region!) early 2020 before the pandemic started. It took a lot of effort to get money for plane tickets, and accomodations reimbursed. Though, in the end in November we managed: it felt like extra money which we now spent to rent a house in our homecountry for during Christmas. Not really for tourism, but after both working 9 months home, we needed some other walls to relax ... Do I feel guilthy? Mwah, not really. I honestly have tried to help the people who really needed it. Ps. Curious how this movie it will do it on nr. Of views. It might get a youtube suggestion due to its title. Another profit of the pandemic coming up?! :)
Another great video Jake, well done! I have quite a few bits of old jewellery, including odd earrings and broken items that I keep for the same reasons, maybe its time to sell? If I was going to do you have any tips of how to do that? Online or via a local shop?
Hi Sam. Good to hear from you! I haven't actually got around to selling anything but I've given it a lot of thought. Selling locally is the safest, easiest and quickest bet. There are some very unscrupulous cash for gold companies, who will offer well below scrap value. Plus, you have to risk sending your items through the post. That said, I've had my eye on the birminghamgoldcompany, so it could be worth getting a quote from them. HAVE A GOOD CHRISTMAS AND STAY WELL!
I spent a month or so constantly 3D printing PPE on 6-8 machines and giving it all away for nothing. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say i probably didn't profit from that. 😂

Just wish I was a penny or two behind you Jake 👍
Pretty weird that a Virus effects the entire World, but not the online one. They are just really two different worlds. Even my own channel has gained a lot of attention. And I’ve heard a lot of people talking about how much they have grown this year online. Let’s not forget that there has been a lot of terrible things. But let’s definitely focus on the positive things that happened this year
