I think it's funny ( in the most genuine and absolutely not disrespectful way) seeing people in the comments writing comments like "Great content buddy". Mr Boyle teaches finance in a great university "beside" managing a hedge fund. This is the best espression of a "free" content platform.
@Quentin Styger and almost every finance channel is managed by a donut trying to sell you his get rich quick course for 100$ a month while Mr. Boyle could just teach at university but decided to share parts of his knowledge on a free platform that's a big difference.
You know what's nice? You can see the joy in Patrick's face when he's presenting this. He seems to really enjoy teaching. His other videos show off his sense of humour, but this one shows real passion for the subject.

So freaking refreshing to be watching YT without the waffle, the minute long intro with crazy music and graphics. Quality Content filled. Kudos to PB...
I'm the last guy who wanted to learn about finance. But I ran across Mr. Boyle's videos, and his sense of humor got my attention, while his ability to share his knowledge has kept me coming back for more. I'm so grateful.
Patrick's intro on qualifications and experience. What no signals, myfxbook, telegram channels, bitclout, zero to millionaire in 17 seconds courses? Legend. Love this channel.
Thanks for putting up these videos for free, Dad. I’m 21 and the recent events have kind of sent me down the rabbit hole of finance. Idk, just thankful for the free education!
Been a fan and follower for a while. Glad your page is starting to gain some traction, finally. Hands down the most underrated page on RUclips. Thank you for sharing all your amazing insights. This page is invaluable!
Thank you very much for the lecture. Especially your point on diversification that includes your house and personal exposure to risks is something I never thought about.
Came here from coffeezila too, lmao didn't even know your channel existed full of gold with lessons from a hedge fund manager himself, your vids are really informative and golden
I honestly need to watch this video again, I don't think I am smart enough to understand 90% of what was so eloquently taught in this episode.... Thank you sir!
That was incredible sir, you packed a ton of information into this lesson. Starting the video off with book recommendations was a great bonus. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us!
I have been watching for over a year; any of your episodes, just for general information and entertainment. I am not in the industry nor at a time in my life when major investments are a factor. Your style and camera presence - wow - what growth you've had. RUclips provides a great window into a creators past and I KNOW that you are an author, Instructor and CEO but your RUclips personality / channel has developed SO much. Now your material also has to be categorized in the dry-humour space as well! Fabulous!
I hated business as an undergrad but the one advantage to taking those courses was that here and there you’d have a professor making very good money at their main job who was just teaching for the love of teaching/fun. These videos take me back to those classes which were always a joy to attend, even though as a petulant humanities kid the material bored me to tears. EDIT- Just checked the Patreon. Yeah there’s no damn way Professor Boyle’s doing this for money. :)
your first book reference - "A Random Walk Down Wall Street" by Gordon Malkiel is my favorite investing book. I think he so succinctly and clearly explains the topic in such an approachable way that you don't need any formal education in finance to understand it.
I always recommend Lowenstein’s “when genius failed” when people tell me they are certain that two variables are correlated and when people assume the normal (or lognormal) distribution will save them. So many real world situations are governed by extreme, not averages.
Absurdly brilliant comment about living in an oil town and already being naturally exposed to oil so diversifying assets other then oil would be ideal.
26:51 "Many have seen this before"...me the pure Arts major at the back of class, crouches even lower into her seat, hoping the invisible cloak is working.
Randomly found this assort of videos which are really good. I am a nurse but with an interest in finance and it is so hard to find really good info for free these days. I follow PensionCraft as well on YT and he provides awesome content.
me too coming from cofeezila guy, i saw your intervention very realistic and frank. now i have to find the time and the moment to watch your videos. i recently started stocks as a way of investing, mostly in big and solid companies, i like the idea of work with my own money.
Great explanation ... did exactly what he said he would ... give an overview of portfolio management ... with enough detail to understand the basic mechanics of it. Thanks for the great content Patrick!!!
Yea, i'd rather listen to PROS like you that arent sitting on a luxury yatch or speeding on the highway with super-cars while promising me %100 return if i buy their online program
I am an infant out of the womb....this video help me wear my first diaper in the sense of understanding for market investment...I have subscribed and you are now my Mr. Miyagi....thank for the great content
Best financial lessons ever watched. MPs can't talk even few minutes like Patric . Patric gives brilliant non stopping speach hours and hours. Conclusion, Patric should be in parliament .
I don't find most videos worth watching. Found your interview on coffeezilla which was actually my first coffeezilla video. Before it was over I was ready to come here. I have subscribed. Will watch as much as time goes by. I will have more time this year than normal.
I'm Loving your Videos Patrick! You could show the Slides in a full screen for us to see it better and at the bottom still appear in the camera, as many people do using software like OBS. I'm very curious to learn more about these topics that you're teaching us. Thank you for sharing all your knowledge, Professor!
Patrick this video was incredibly informative. I really enjoyed watching this. I'm sure there is a lot that went over my head but I thought it was interesting how you can reduce the risk in a portfolio by adding assets that do not correlate with each other.
1:05 re "life risks" is an excellent point, not that anyone will listen. This classic mistake is often misattributed by Warren Buffett fanboys to the notion that you should not invest in things you don't understand. That may or may not be true, but it doesn't mean that you therefore should concentrate 100% of your risk in something that you think you understand. A childhood friend of mine was a self-made billionaire and is now broke because he refused to invest outside his area of "expertise" and "couldn't get excited about mid teen returns".
Ahhh! I have read most of these books. Got my reading list from Goldman Sachs Recommended Reading list and Dynamics Associates Hedge Fund Reading List. The study guides for UOL distance study has professional texts. CFA also has a nice set of texts.
Awesome stuff. You are helping people. Thank you. Might want to get a setup where your presentation in on the screen with you in the corner. Thanks again for doing this 😃🙏
My old memories of finance classes are coming back to me now. haha. Actually, it might be interesting if you do a walkthrough on how to do portfolio management in practice now that you covered the theory - so if a person has x numbers of stocks, how do you optimise it - and when to do rebalancing.

I feel special for having the privilege to watch a portfolio management lesson by Mr. Boyle.
