- The Civil War is over and the South has fallen, but Col. Jonas (Joseph Cotten) has a plan to revive the Confederacy. He raids a Union Army detail and walks away with valuable treasure that he intends to use to raise another rebel army. Jonas needs to keep the treasure safe during shipment, so he places it in a coffin and forces saloon girl Claire (Norma Bengell) to play widow. However, Claire is unwilling to do her part and puts herself in danger by opposing the dangerous Jonas.

Thank you for uploading this entertaining film. I liked the plot, the solo trumpet and the character of Ben, but the leading lady stole the show!
Joseph Cotton, renowned actor of the Mid 20th Century, plays the "Christain Confederate Father" of the gang.
No clue why he opted to do this movie, he and Orson Wells were best friends. They were 1st Class Stage and Screen Actors.
Cotton had lots of personal expenses. He had to keep working.

Wouldn't watch this if Joseph Cotton wasn't in it. One of the great actors of his day. Was a protege of the great actor/producer Orson Wells and was in his 'Citizen Kane' - said to be the greatest film of all time. They must have paid him a lot to do this spaghetti western.

Great movie and cast !!!!

But the trumpet in the back ground is very disturbing.
This is a 'can't stop watching' movie, but for one minor irritation. You can tell within the first minute that this is a spaghetti western because wagons are not American wagons they are European. Most everything else is correct, for what little It would cost to get proper ones, why do they do this?
did'nt know that it's another spaghetti in which everything is exaggerated including the monotonous trumpet
