I Liked it a lot, I am bedridden with a severe case of fibromyalgia and all that I see 24/7 are 4 walls and that is it. what a refreshing change, I love the outdoors, always have. many thanks. SRJ.
This made me cry.... I love photography but you took it even further... you have touched so many people. I love it. IT is my PASSION! I want to do this!
Thank you for this very engaging video. It is so very freeing to have a way of being on a trip and enjoying the sights and sounds and commentary from a person that is enjoying the journey. I used to travel a great deal, but with my legs so swollen from severe lymphatic system inflammation and so much pain, I don't get out of our house very much. This is like a much wider version of The Travel Channel made by friends all over the world. Thank you for improving my life and many others too.
Gorgeous video and a perfect portrayal of what the Virtual Photowalks are doing for people. Making the world a better place - this is what it's all about.
This is awesome!!! I shared with my friends on Facebook who haven't made the switch to Google+ yet, I am sure they will soon reconsider. I am new to Google+ and as a Psychology Major, this is epic for technology and continuing to help those with disabilities. Pure Awesomeness!!!! Love it
Hi John, Just heard of this for the first time today on 03-11-13 I never thought about sharing with those who will never be able to experience. AWESOME!
You realize that there are different departments at Google right? People work on different projects at the same time. This is what the Google+ team worked on.
I have skyped with a friend in OHIO who will probably never be able to afford going to the coast at least the Pacific Coast for sure. (I'm in Central, CA) We walked along the beach (me and my iPad with her on it) and talked to all the walkers, horseback riders and others LIVE, so I guess I've done a small version of Virtual Photo Walk. But I would love to learn how you do yours and be able to do what you do. But, mostly I'd like to THANK YOU for doing what you do! AWESOME!
What I have done is a series of one minute escapes and posted them to youtube of places I've been I call "A Moments Peace" but I only thought of these as for those at work to have a calming video to watch before getting back to work.
You never know. You can get pretty decent connection speeds just over wireless. Also, no telling if the elephant scene was near a cell tower or visitor's center. It's feasible.
Its the directing style. Judging by the last message in the video and comparing it to other google adverts, this is one of the many ads created by google itself to promote its plus service. They just decided to use the virtual walks charity, which of course is helping them also. I dont know if it was shown on tv or net only or if the actors are fake, but they probably use the same crew for tv promotion, and arent on a tight budget.
Congratulations on Producing an Amazing story on how G+ Hangouts can be used to make a massive difference by connecting Humanity via technology! And a Well-Deserved Congratulations on winning the WEBBY Award for Best Branded Entertainment Unscripted!!!!!

haha, The Nexus is what's holding the Hangout while he goes ahead and captures his photos. There's no interaction between the two devices (Nexus and DSLR) :)
It's such a shame that noone uses Google+ :/ We should start some kind of Google+ revolution on Facebook. Let's make a page on Facebook and start a revolution. ;) Let's do it! Because we all want it and wa can!
I'm slightly dubious that there is sufficient cell reception / bandwidth for live video uploads in the middle of a lake, or in Africa, next to a wild elephant... I might be wrong.
i never said they were bad people, just opponents of google. believe me when i say that they are huge role models for me. please don't assume i mean something i don't. i had no bad intentions
This is probably a very dumb question, but how do you hook up and external camera to your phone? I'm stuck on my iPhone using the iPhone camera. But I love the technology and I love Google Hangouts on Air. pilottv.net is using it like crazy. Thanks, Terry
Yeah, that looks a bit strange at first sight. I'm thinking maybe he's got an EyeFi in that camera and he's wifi tethering to his phone for "unlimited" storage.
Sure, but still there are many more things on Google+ they could work on. Don't tell me people are going to go for a walk with a tripod. I don't think you would get a good enough internet connection in the forest to stream HD video.
Together we shall create an army of magical creatures. An army that shall overthrow the humans so we can take our rightful place as rulers of the Earth;
Love this...it brought tears to my eyes! Bless you John Butterill!
What a thoughtful idea to share your adventures with the world!! God bless!

You realize that there are different departments at Google right? People work on different projects at the same time. This is what the Google+ team worked on.
I recently started using Google+ and it's amazing. I don't know how people can stand to use Facebook.

Why i want to cry after a Google commercial?
You never know. You can get pretty decent connection speeds just over wireless. Also, no telling if the elephant scene was near a cell tower or visitor's center. It's feasible.
you sir are mean.... this video is amazing shows what technology is capable of

Is there an instruction how to do this (connecting your phone to your camera and stream the pictures you are taking)?
I'm slightly dubious that there is sufficient cell reception / bandwidth for live video uploads in the middle of a lake, or in Africa, next to a wild elephant... I might be wrong.

I was there. We did it, for real, with 3G connection
Hey guys. Does anyone know if he is using his DSLR in the Hangout some how or it's just through his smart phone. Thanks!
+Doty. Thank you for your input about MS. which is highly impairing. We should do what we can to assist.
This is bamboo flute . My kind of music. Healing

That's really sweet of that man! I often wonder what I would do if I had to care for an invalid.
Great!

This is so beautiful and inspiring, whether this is fake or not.
It's not a fake at all, we still do this activity.
The definition is tooooooooooooooo high I'm gonna die!
