I stayed in Santa Monica for an entire week last summer and my favorite part of my entire SoCal trip was those evenings walking along the beach and hanging out on the Pier as the sunset behind the mountains. Just so beautiful. I miss being there.
@@curtisb3336 I lived in my van in 2017 on PCH across from Taco Bell at Sunset Blvd for six months right next to the water. I was maybe two miles from Santa Monica. I could look out my window and see the Ferris wheel in the distance.
Hi Chris. Gotta agree that sunset is the best time to visit the pier. How wonderful that you can enjoy such a fabulous scenery. Thanks for sharing and take care.
It’s great if you stay in Santa Monica and don’t leave Santa Monica. The traffic getting to and from Santa Monica is among the worst that you can experience in the entire world. With the worst types of drivers imaginable.
Came to Santa Monica once in 2017, other than some very annoying street performers, it was lots of fun!!! We are heading back to the LA area this April, can't wait!!!
One of my favorite LA memories is having dinner at Bubba Gump during sunset, it’s epic looking north along the coast. I can’t wait to do it again soon.
Thank you for sharing. I will be in San Diego/Oceanside in May. Santa Monica and Venice Beach, The Original Farmers Market are on my to do list. Lord Willing!
one of my favorite places in the world! i don't swim in the beach but the energy in that area is so vibrant and the scenery is second to none. it looks like that the food vendors without a permit were dealt with for good. there was another channel that monitors and reports the happenings in santa monica and that whole ordeal was going on for a long while. and lol at the venmo street performers using venmo! apparently a few homeless people are doing the same thing now. wild times!
Love your walk n talks Chris! I visited Santa Monica from Australia in October 2019, the weather was perfect and the vibes were vibin. After I’d done 3rd St Pmde I headed to the pier for an hour or two and stood watching a big sea lion begging for fish from the fishermen. I then grabbed a cherry lemonade from Hot Dog On A Stick and walked along the beach to Venice. I know it’s a bit ‘touristy’ but it still felt like a quintessential Californian experience ❤
Thanks Chris for this tour of the SM pier and third street! When I was a little kid, my cousin talked me into going on the roller coaster with him on the pier when it was POP. I remember the roller coaster being much larger with several dips in a row that went down and up. Last time I went on a roller coaster 😂
I was there just a week ago. Lucky i got beautiful weather that week. I was travelling solo.. so just a little tip for others.. they will not let you go on that wheel as a solo. You have to wait if they can seat you there with somebody else, but i wasnt lucky. Usually people coming as a couple and want romantic pictures alone or in a group.
Watching after my visit because your videos cover everything and I see what I saw 😆 did you go all the way to the end of pier!? It was super crowded this weekend like packed!!
I love Santa Monica Pier. I first went there in 2009 and ate at that restaurant at the end of the pier. The view was the only good thing about that restaurant lol. That was over 15 years ago though, so maybe it's better now. I found much better restaurants back along the beach. There was an amazing hole in the wall Italian restaurant which I can't remember the name of.
watching from Tahiti 🌴and I have to say : amazing video, well documented and narrated ✨. Thanks for sharing us your exploration around Santa Monica Pier. I plan on going there in march 2025 with my family 💯 thank's a lot✌
While yes there certainly are some neighborhoods in LA that are fine to walk around at night. I personally avoid walking around Hollywood or Downtown LA at night as it does feel sketchy
Hi Chris. That was a great informative blog. I’ll be getting off The North-west Chief at Union station early on Saturday 20 April. I’ll be spending day at Santa Monica Pier before heading to LAX. The question is….. Shorts or Jeans in April…?😂
So bummed I didn’t move there. Was so close. Had a few jobs and apartments lined up but I just wanted to come home for a bit. Really wanna move back as I was in Arizona for five years. But covid messed it up
so i see a lot of people asking about parking and i just wondered... what about public transportation? (i dont live in a city btw. i do own a car. but if i ever went to somewhere like LA i would probably be freakin out trying to find my way around. i don't like traffic...it's a weird and inconvenient phobia.. also why i live in the country) but yeah... cabs? buses? or have they been taken over by uber? just curious if it would be easier or more convenient. everything i know about city life i learned from the movies. like all you have to do is stick out your thumb and a cab shows up...... maybe that's NYC.
Trying to leave Santa Monica is one of the most horrendous traffic endeavors that you can face in this entire nation. I’m not exaggerating overstating something here. It’s that bad. It can take you 30 minutes just to get from the incline to Cloverfield, which could not be more than 4 miles. it usually takes at least 20 minutes just to get to the 405 which is perpetually jammed in both directions and if you stay on the 10 going eastbound it’s pretty much unusable. 5 mph for the next 15 to 20 miles.
I watched the an episode of the vlogger "German in Venice" and he showed that Santa Monica is overrun with homeless people and the a lot of the shops are closed. Is that true or an exaggeration?

It’s a magical time.
I plan on going there in April.

I hope you enjoy it!
Last time I was in Santa Marina I walked the beach to the pier took all day but that Farris wheel looked so close

I see myself in the video. I should have said hi.
Neat!

Thanks for the update on the solo ride situation. That's a weird rule.. wonder if it's a weight and balance issue
Thanks! I would like to go there sometime. Those rides are fairly expensive. That burger looked good.
The burger was mmmmm!

Thank you for the video, Chris. How safe is it to walk in Hollywood or other parts of LA at night? Is it safe to use the metro at night? Thank you!

@@YellowProductions I might also have to dip a toe in the Pacific.!!
Chris I saw a DDR machine/StepmaniaX in that arcade! You should always try and get footage of your/my favorite arcade game!!!
I was at POP the day they were filming the final episode of The Fugitive when David Janson finally caught the one armed man.
So bummed I didn’t move there. Was so close. Had a few jobs and apartments lined up but I just wanted to come home for a bit. Really wanna move back as I was in Arizona for five years. But covid messed it up
Dude, Santa Monica is a liberal shithole. If you wanna live in that area, Manhattan Beach is much nicer and way more chill.
Nous sommes allés nous balader a Santa Monica

Uber is definitely an option. Taxis are not just driving around though. Most people drive in LA and don't really take the public transit
Happy Friday
Happy Friday!
Im hopefully coming here in july for 3 days. How wheelchair friendly is the tourist areas of LA?
I think LA is generally wheelchair friendly as it's a pretty flat city
What day of the week was this taken? I am thinking of visiting on a Friday or Saturday?
This was a weekday.. Friday or Saturday will certainly be busier
Cool. I noticed there isn't homeless tents everywhere.
SOLO PONER LA CANCION IM ALWAYS HERE
If Pier want increase profit, the better investment is restaurants...scs
Please next do a review of the Whammyburger (Angelo's Burger) in Linwood, California (but leave the Uzi at home) 🍔 😂 🍔 😂 🍔 😂
Sounds like I'll have to make sure I'm paid up on my life insurance 😀

OMG, THEIR BURGERS ARE SO GOOD! I PICK THEM OVER IN AND OUT, THE HABIT, SHAKE SHACK, FAT BURGER AND THE REST OF THEM!

I wouldn't use the phrase "overrun" but yes. The homeless situation has certainly gotten worse. Still not as bad as Venice
Eu também gosto do por do ☀️🌅🌇. Eu não gosto do nascer do sol. Não gosto do horário
Looks like cotton candy
Too much traffic to LA.
No worse than trying to get out of Santa Monica.
Overrated. L.A suck
