That one caller made a good point. Thornes arm strength is lacking. He’s got one of the weakest arms in power 5 ball. Doesn’t mean he can’t succeed. Chad Pennington played a decade in the nfl and couldn’t throw the ball 30 yards. Brock purdy for San Francisco doesn’t have a big arm and hes on fire in the nfl but yes Peyton has a weak arm.

Hopefully some good news on a portal QB coming soon. Not sure how Cole can say the QB situation is better than last year when Thorne put up worse numbers than Ashford did.
Thorne will have a tremendous upgrade at receiver and the OLine will be better. He will be fine. He had no receiver help this yr and that hurts a qb tremendously.Thorne is tough. He will be much improved next yr I believe. Wde!

@@jvilletigerright, not calling for Ashford to start either, but with a worse oline, worse wrs, and a incompetent offensive game plan half of his starts in ‘22, Ashford still was more productive at QB than Thorne. Only reason Thorne didn’t get double digit ints(9) this season, is because his attempts was very low. It’s crazy how fans bring up poor oline play and wrs drops when evaluating selective QBs at Auburn, and not include those same deficiencies when discussing others.

With deal and the other TE coming back there’s not much need for a purely blocking TE which Collins is so he’ll most likely be a “flip” but he hasn’t been projected to be in the signing class for at least a month or so by now

As far as the qb goes, I think Freeze is telling Thorne its his job to lose, but hes counting on Holden competing the same way this spring.
I think Holden gets the nod for qb1 this spring, Thorne transfers out, and we get a div 2 qb in the transfer portal to keep Holden honest, and Holden starts next fall, for two years, then hank and Walker have an epic showdown for qb1 after Holden leaves.

Perry is going to flip to LSU. He just visited and loved it. Coach Kelly sold his offense to this young man. Perry flipped from Alabama because of depth. Auburn needs a transfer quarterback now to keep offensive players. These kids are committing early, and they want players around them .

Yes freeze out coached saban until the last 4 minutes when Hugh decided to try and field a punt at our 38 yard line with a 4 point lead and only 4 minutes left. Field position is irrelevant especially when you have run for 260+ yards already. Who cares if you have the ball at the 38 or the 20. You have to avoid that turnover. Then the terrible decision to not play zone and all dbs keep their eyes on the qb. James getting caught in trail man with his back to the qb is coaching. Hugh panicked in the last 4 minutes.
Freeze seems to have Saban’s number honestly. Every great villain has a great hero. Just like Kill has Freeze’s number. Saban’s squad has elite players at every position and has had it for years, yet Freeze has beat him twice and let’s be honest, without the miracle he’s 3-3 against Saban with much more inferior rosters. Our offense is returning basically the same o line, all the RB’s, the TE’s, and QB. All we needed is receivers and depth on the line. We were completely 1 dimensional against Bama, didn’t even have 100 passing yards and still put them at the brink. We can and will run the ball all over any team in the country, imagine how bad it gets with a good, not even great passing game. I’m SO much more worried about replenishing the secondary than anything else. We were having to use DB’s and LB’s as our primary blitz packages because the line couldn’t get in the backfield nearly enough and this year were going to need either a great line or secondary to be effective and get teams off the field. I don’t see us being able to defend against pass heavy offenses to say the least. Offensively I honestly believe we have a 1000 yard rusher and multiple 500 plus receivers, at least 2. I think Fairweather has a monstrous year as well. We won’t have to line him up off the line as much outside the big boys in the redzone. Thompson, Coleman, and Fairweather in the redzone sounds SCARY. I don’t know how well they will be as far as routes and separation will look but I’m extremely confident they will be able to win most 50/50 balls. Seth Williams was similar to my point. He made his living on 50/50’s. The route running and athleticism will increase the more experienced they are but the outside guys can win contested catches very effectively day one. Shalom.

Do you also know that the whole point of that call was to have 0 1v1 matchups and yet they still had a 1v1 because puckett dove too aggressively and wasn’t in the back corner to help dj like he was supposed to? That’s CRAZY. Williams is elite but trading him for every elite receiver we’ve had committed. The more effective and efficient number of weapons the more productive the offense will be. One man can be doubled but when you have let’s say Coleman, Perry, and Cain on the field at the same time it’s extremely hard to cover em all. Someone will be open. If we drop all the elite receivers we have for Williams, outside of Var(if he returns) who’s going to complement him? If it meant we lose 2-3 if we get Williams I’ll take whatever we have already over even a NFL standout. It’s a team sport bruh. The more weapons the better. Give Bama Williams. I think we’ll see at least 1-2 of our freshmen will put 700-1000 on the season. Why in the world would you give all them up for 1 guy? It’s just not rational. Bryce Cain has ELITE route running and speed. Only reason he’s not a 5 star is his size and blocking grades. He’s extremely dangerous after the catch and is one of the best kick returners in the class. He’s going to gain a little weight and it’s like having a legit RB as a receiver. He can play inside or outside due to his speed and route running. With all these guys on the field at the same time our offense will be FAR more productive and explosive than having only Williams. I REALLY hope we get him, but I would not trade him for even 2 of our top 4 HS guys, especially the big boys on the outside. We need 50/50 threats which is something Williams isn’t really great at, especially in the SEC. If we want to talk about losing one to get Williams ok, but not 2 or more. Imagine this recruiting class in 2 years. We’ll have the best receiver room in the country. I’ll take Williams over anyone we’re going to be able to land in the portal. I’ll take Williams over anybody in the portal but I ain’t trading him for 2 of the HS guys. No way every day. Shalom Alechiem.
