  • Manuel Guajardo masterfully builds a 1/48 Tamiya P-47M Thunderbolt, No. 61096. He builds a P-47D, but had to use Tamiya's P-47M since it was the only release with the tail fillet.
This Republic P-47D is built as it appeared in Mexico in the mid-1950s prior to its retirement. Manuel's father was in the Mexican Air Force and saw this aircraft first hand.
    Equipment and Parts Used:
    -Tamiya Paint
-1/48 Aires, P-47M Thunderbolt cockpit set (No. 4476)*
-1/48 Aztec Models, Latin American P-47, Juicy Jugs I (D-044)
    -1/48 Brengun, P-47 FLAPS (BRL48025)
    -1/48 Quickboost, Republic P-47D Thunderbolt - Engine (No. 48 005)*
    -1/48 Tamiya, Republic P-47M Thunderbolt, No. 61096.

Over my first coffee ☕ i saw that cockpit wiring and said this dude is nuts! I couldn't stop watching, great job. Rare livery with an interesting story and offbeat colors, what's not to like?
    Bravo Manuel and FLM 👍☕🐢

Thank you! Hard to go wrong with any Thunderbolt. : ) Funny enough, this was Manuel's first Tamiya kit.

@@flightlinemedia never would have known that was his first Tamiya. Definitely a talented model maker/artisan.

Great build! It is a personal favorite. I was still seeing these overpowered monsters in Latin America America in the 80’s.

Thanks Jim! Where did you see the P-47s? Sounds like an amazing experience.

An interesting rare scheme! Some of the Mexican P-47s almost ended up in Israel in 1948 but the final deal wasn't reached.

That's very interesting! Had that deal gone through, this P-47 may have sported a very different livery in the 1950s haha.
