With Ryan's ruclips.net/user/postUgkxy_pn55PK60wAV3X_C_RoLS_67mNonoCE plan I was like one taken by the hand and led step by step from start to finish. Thank you very much Ryan!
The design of wrapping the chimney with the brass tubing for hot water was really imaginative stylistically and functionality. The usage of the vertical space was wonderfully finshed off with that natural railing/banister. What a great home and or retreat. Great for a vaction rental too in regards to the fun aspect and the imersive off the grid experience. Very well done everyone!
It's similar to the one we have. A easy upgrade is to put a shelf outside a window using L brackets so you can cook from inside and smoke goes up and outside. Works great for small propane grills, hot plates.
lentils/dried beans...rice...vegetables ...spaghetti. ..stew...canned milk...beef jerky...so many things that can be stored for a very long time with out refrigeration. ...and that can be heated up with just a pot and a simple heat source. ...just love the off grid idea....just wish I had the courage to do it....
Certainly a special way to live with nature 🥰
Nice to see a bunk bed. I noticed that most off grid or vacation cabins don't have bunk beds which save space and extra sleeping for people to visit. Eventually get solar panels. Nice place.
this was actually uploaded on my birthday. kinda cool to notice that.
that's one HECK of a cabin there. looks great and cozy.
Great off grid house, beautiful views
Go get a few Cheap $10 36gal Plastic Garbage Cans with Lids from Walfart and Hook them together with some PVC Pipe and collect Rain Water and Filter it with some good Berky Type Filters for drinking and showers. Get a Couple Deep Cycle Marine Batt at Walfart also for around $75 with 120Ah each instead of Golf Cart Batts at $100 Plus and only 20Ah. A 12v RV On Demand Water Pump for about $45. Propane Gas Camping Stove $100, On Demand Propane Water Heater $140.
Literally this, really grinds my gears.meme to see "off the grid" cabins without rain collection. It can be done VERY cheaply and is a nice way to get fresh water. I like using slanted metal roofs that run off into gutters and down through some basic filters to keep detritus out. Boiling and further filtration is a good practice.
Opjink
That's what I am doing. Also a Simple Harbor Freight Solar Setup with 1 Batt, it powers my Lights and my Pump.
Garbage Cans are a Hell-of-a Lot Cheaper than 55gal Drums ($30Used-$90New), tho for Drinking I would get the Drums. Water for Bathing&Washing Dishes, use Garbage Cans.
As far as Shit&Piss, Shit goes into 2 Walfart Bags and tossed in the garbage at random gas stations twice a week ( It's Just like throwing Shitty Diapers and Colostomy Bags away) . Piss gets Sprayed on the lawn. Grass grows just fine.
+ravenlorans Well if you're dependent upon gas station trash cans you aren't really off the grid.
What about pants? You can't wear pants and be off-grid, right?
ravenlorans Just a heads up.. I do believe that *Galvanized* trash cans leach out a poison... so don't store any water or food in them.
We store our emergency water in those blue food rated plastic drums... inside.
I love that your living such a peaceful happy life. I'm jealous!
living like back in the day but with a modern twist love it!
What would make this perfect would be a rain catchment system and a bath house. An outdoor shower in January doesn't sound all that appealing lol. But you only need it if you're going to use it for more than a vacation home. Also you have the most gorgeous eyes ever!
Super cool little cabin, love your content man
Awesome look from the front. The upstairs looks spacious rather than a cramped loft. Maine is a beautiful state. I have bad memories of the cold from when we lived in Portsmouth from 59-62, Bangor from 65-67- and Chicopee. Such pretty green country and nice people. You should go
If you open that upper window black flies will eat you alive. Put a screen on that thing
Normally Dylan, i am running after money. Earn this, get this, save this etc. But every now and then i like coming to your channel and realize how minimal amount of amenities we need actually. Thank you for making me stay humble. (LIKE IF YOU FEEL THE SAME WAY)
I didn't hear a word he said. I was distracted by those baby blues! LOL! CRUSHING! :)
Deer and rabbits and groundhogs will devour everything you plant. I had to build a 2x4 cage to keep my garden safe.
Another finely produced video. I want to live like that sooo bad.
i love how people who have never hunted think if you live rural, you can just walk out into your front yard and shoot a deer. Iike they are cattle just waiting around to be slaughtered.
Several realities
Hunting season is only a few weeks
You cant take unlimited deer
you cant take just any deer. (Doe's Antlerless)
you need a gun, proper clothing, hunting license, etc. For the cost of your hunting permit alone could buy more chicken by weight than the edible venison you harvest (If you are successful)
Deer don't yield a huge windfall of meat.
a large deer in most states is 165 lbs.
when you deduct the : Hide, Head, Skeleton, Guts, you might get 40-50 lbs of usable meat.
Not every deer is 165 lbs, The vast majority weigh far less.
oh yeah, Most people don't have Butcher's skills. Add $100 for processing.
in short, Don't take your survival advice from anyone with a man bunn
You are right on the hunting realities, and my dad usually shoots one dear a year on this property, and this lasts my entire family's meat consumption for most of the year. Most of the rest of our food comes from our garden, trades we make with friends who also are living sustainable and minimalist lifestyles and fish my father catches. I don't think Dylan was giving any survival advice, just passing along information my dad had shared with him.
I appreciate that you share your knowledge, thank you but leave his man bun out of it, lol. He's not claiming to be an expert hunter, he's giving a tour of the cabin.

DirtyFrigginHarry vacuum sealer
God of Thunder, you don't understand. Manbun Nation feels it would be totally rad to shoot and eat McDeer burgers all year, so you're just bringing them down with all your reality, dude. But seriously, how would anyone know if he took a couple of deer out of season? Do they come onto your property and check the freezer in Maine? I'm not being sarcastic. I just wonder why he couldn't if he learned how.
Hey Dylan!!! SAFE travels, Be Careful Out There and THANK YOU for sharing.
Dude that place is so rad, That view is majestic!
Banana bread from work, hell yeah.
I really enjoy your videos. Thanks for sharing your life's adventures with us!
Don't keep your car battery just sitting on the ground like that because it will drain your battery. Put some wood under it or something to elevate it off the ground. Nice cabin btw ;)
Good advise concrete is worse than wood. wood can dry out.
Just not a big deal . . . a least there is no concrete there. Check RUclips for alternate forms of electricity.
What will help a battery is keeping it warm. Thats the best your gonna do keeping it off the cold ground. The pixies inside cant jump thru the plastic case any faster on the ground or a piece of wood.
Correct, it wont drain the battery....
Okay I will not embarrass anybody.
What a lovely cabin, and you are a great host! Thanks for the tour!
I was talking to my friends and they have solar power now!
Please do a follow up !
It never hurts to have solar, 6 vdc golf cart batteries are best. huge plates inside. never hurts to have a pair of Honda 2000 watt generators. Its better to convert to propane. propane has eternal shelf life, and Honda very low decibel rating.
What kind of oniine jobs are there? Could you give me some practical link? I mean real online Jobs you can call a Job?
Joseph Neutral wish I could help you, best I can do is pray.
jobs that entirely or almost entirely rely on telecommuting, various writing jobs. self-employment. Basically any job where the vast majority of the work can be completed on your personal computer. Typically not extremely hard to break into, but definitely specialized work.
I bought a propane refrigerator for my off grid cabin. Works great. Just get a large yet probable tank for it if you have to take it to town to refill
My family has an off grid cabin in New Hampshire with natural spring water piped right into the cabin
GREAT SET UP! YOUR FRIENDS DID VERY WELL!
shower outside in the winter. maybe im just too much of a floridian but as a new notherner i scarely want to take a shower in the winter inside more over outside lol
I’ve lived in Maine for 23 years and it never got hot. The summers are perfect! It is the perfect place to live, in the summer. ( All 3 x 4 week 🤣😂🤣) But then again I live down South without an air conditioner. Kidding aside MAINE is beautiful. It’s the most beautiful place I’ve ever lived. The problem for me, Winter lasts about seven months.
That pull out drone shot at the end was great.
LOVE THIS CABIN! WELL DONE...
Ingenious water system! I love it
That's awesome!! Thanks for sharing!
Great to see you here! Thanks for all you Go pro videos! I have watched many of them!
Hey that's awesome man! You're welcome! Keep it up what you are doing, it's awesome!
Maine eh? If Stephen King's novels have taught my anything is that some weird shit is about to happen at your friend's cabin...
Yeah, because The Shining was a documentary.
@@Kube_Dog ...that was in Colorado....
He he he yeah, some freaky dips should be on the scene momentarily to complicate his life.
I miss living in Maine I moved from their to Arizona and Maine is way better
I'm from Trinidad and Tobago where i think we have the ideal climate and all around setting for Thoreau style tiny house and self sustained living . government isn't so strict about house sizes, lots of sun so plenty solar possibilities and lots of land that squatters just go live on without government interference. sadly people my age aren't looking at alternative living and i can't wonder off alone (crime is a problem here) but as soon as i meet a guy with shared ideas it'll definitely become a reality .
A great explanation David of Canal Living, we certainly wouldn't like to live in a house again.
You commented on Car Battery use, I would suggest Deep cycle marine Battery because they are made to drains until dead, then recharge to full charge.
Very Cool for being off grid. Love it.
everyone seem happy. its a nice place!!
Love your content, bro! Keep on killing it!
Thanks for sharing your "show" I am watching all the episodes getting ideas for my future off grid home. It's helping me figure out things I do and do not want
I immediately showed my family members haha "MOM MOM U GOTTA LOOK AT THIS" but she knows I have a phobia of insects and am terrified of "ghosts" and animals...
Thank you for bringing us along!
Good news! No ghosts in Maine! :-) bad news on the insects, though...
Dan L Are you kidding? Maine is full of them
Nur Diyanah Tip: If you are afraid of ghosts I recommend not visiting or staying anywhere Old. Especially houses or places built on burial grounds or other stuff. Live in modern places, apartments for example are usually modern.
Gabe LMA - shhhhh! I'm marketing! ;-)
Kube Dog You laugh and deny it but one of these days you'll have am experience and you'll eat every word. Go to my dad's old house and see if you can spend a whole night in his room, go to my brothers old house in Massachusetts and see if you'd like to spend more than one day. These things do happen and they can be extremely terrifying. You've probably never had an experience so don't judge others who have. Maybe ghosts aren't what cause these things but something does, and some times whatever it is isn't always nice.
Beautiful landscape! I used to live off grid in Cali until the Sherriff ran me off - from Houston currently in Austin area hill country! I grow veggies and herb - don't eat meat usually - and am wanting to go solar- saving $ ! Best wishes! Great way of life!
I love the water pipe macgyvering.
literally got a contact high from the manbun trying to explain the obvious, "since the window has a crank it opens, and there's the futon, and this is a battery, it provides electricity, ha yea totally does, far out" lol good job buddy you almost described something that might ve obviously cool lol
Love the drone shot
I have the same set up in the country of the great state of North Carolina. Off grid rules.
LOL how did your know that. No nothing that country hell, I'm a city boy that went off grid.
Actually Gordy for the last 2 years a have been building an off Grid farm, with a small house. I stay there every weekend. You apparently don't know anything about my channel. Maybe you would learn something if you did some investigation, into my channel. You would eat your words.
How does laundry work? What about internet? Where are you getting that?
You're right, Larry. It's not possible to wash laundry and get internet, except in the way you do it. That why no one ever wore clothes prior to 1952.
MR. FIX-ALL INC. is it legal and if so where do you build your house
one of the nicest ones I've seen
Dear FLORB-Hive-Mind = it's been a privilege to watch your growth as storytellers. Enjoy your time away from new uploads. Until then, have yourselves a very good evening. Under whatever constellation of stars happen to be above your heads. Ta.
- Cathy, Ottawa/Bytown (no in-house-Millennial to tell us two people can't fart around The Youze Tubes on the same account so, ..., yeah,... someday we hope to join the 90's level of technology... apparently it's back in style... ?? ,)
The cabin life is what I'm working on. Just bought 4 acres in mountains
goals for me in the next couple years, but secluded mountain land in Colorado.
Great video and walk around many thanks
Beautiful Cabin.
Pretty good. Thanks for asking
That place is way nice and I may try the plumbing tips
shower system is cool thanks for sharing
Hi Dylan, I really enjoyed the video and I am considering building almost the exact same cabin. Did your friends have any actual plans for the cabin? A 3d sketch or some drawing? Thanks, Kevin.
if I only had land...ty for your videos
Bless his heart 😮
really really.......very very.....really really........very very......really really.....very very cool
That's so cool I'm from Maine! Place looks beautiful!
binge watch your videos :)
You can't shower with hot water directly from a thermo siphoning wood fire... it's far too hot. Needs to be mixed in a heat storage tank etc.
Got that right, meat, vegetables, water, hey, mankind can survive. Not to mention what a country boy can do.
as long as you got rain... or snow, you should be fine.
gordy threehorses thurst? C'mon
@gordy threehorses he he he I bet your nickname is Sunshine?
What about flapjacks? Without pancakes my life would be cruel and empty.
Sweet!! Love the natural wood! Beautiful place with lots of your own space ...thanx for sharing! Peace.....;)
im so jealous of this place that i actually cried
Nice setup!
dude, with a river overthere and a tourbine you can cheaply get the power as long as it doesn't freeze. a couple of pipes, planks and physics can get you the ever flowing water at home. Heat exchangers can power you up during the winter with wood.
a swimming pool would be a challenge anyway.
This is beautiful. I have a few questions. I would not hunt but for those who do, how would you store the meat without electricity? Can we see how the shower runs ( a cooler does not store a large amount of water. Can you control the water with a tap? Are you standing outside naked, in the snow, with scalding water running on your head?) Can you make some videos of how you live and make use of all house these facilities throughout the year? How is it insulated? What is the cost of heating? I am doing this research for my future tiny house. Thank you.
you could get a generator to run freezer, maybe a deep hole in ground with a seal container of some sort stay nice an cool and take your own ice in lol only have to worry about it in the hot months though just my own thoughts.
goggle "how to store the meat without electricity?"
good point on the hot water maybe after you start running it it will cool down because there are only so many coils wrapped around the stove pipe idk really if you pause vid 2@6:06 you can see the one water line coming out the ceiling that is not heated so that might regulate it some
I'd be inclined to smoke whatever wasn't cooked immediately. Having a small chest freezer would be nice, with enough panels and batteries...doable.
The house has electricity.. LOL
cost of heating? lol gas for the power saw
Pleasant Lake Pirate or even cheaper...cost of axe! :-)
I agree, a follow up on this cabin would be epic man! Focus on the solar 101 aspects, and 2-3 other updates. Great video and channel, I see some of the titles of your other stuff, I am going to sub you. Stay rad. LOL. // fan of yours here in Canadastan (:
congratulations and may God bless you on all your endeavors
Great video! Love the cabin
Could you collect rainwater instead of using the cooler? If so how would you do that? Just thinking. 🙂
Also, add some walls around that shower as a wind barrier.
very nice. thanks for sharing.
That was a very nice tiny house. I was curious what town in Maine that was at? I live in a suburb of Portland, Maine and I have been saving to buy some land for a off-grid cabin build of my own. :)
excellent way to enjoy life.thanks somuch for sharing
Get a propane powered fridge. They work just as well.
It's so beautiful. I live in Jamaica no snow😎 I wish you'd do a follow up of the cabin in the winter with all the snow.yeah they also should get a solar stove. great video thanks
Nice man bun!
THAT'S MY DREAM!!!
Where can I find instruction on how to build that house? In a book or a magazine or on internet?
wow nice cabin you have never think having a solar panel for light
Quick question Dylan. Was that spring you filled your water at in New Hampshire, between the towns of Littleton NH, and Franconia NH?
Love the creeper van....
Very awesome, great tour! Why tiny though? If it's so inexpensive, why not spend a bit more and double the size? Have you considered Tesla batteries?
wao thats a nice cabin nice job
Beautiful place
What do you do with the used water from the sink?
Man I love this stuff. Really cool!
Im going to build a cabin like this one day
Real cool place
Great! Loved it!
Cheers, great video
Cool space!
this place is Great.
this was just great. ...thank you.
Nice home. I'd like to have a similar build in the suburbs of Atlanta, GA.. only to stay within close to family and friends. What are the ordinances and also how can you bypass regulations to have a tiny home built with land?
