Im actually 24 and just been placed as music minister and this is exactly what i need. This is my fathers church and I couldn't be more nervous, happy, excited. I love God with all my heart and would die for my God. I need some prayer that i can become the leader I need to be.
Thank you Cassandra, for your video. I am a worship leader at a small church and I lead solo right now (not by choice). It has its challenges, but I take this ministry very seriously, and God has blessed. I would only add to your list, that we should make sure we take time out during the week to get alone with God (everyday if possible) to read His Word and worship one on one. Then, when we get up to lead worship, its just continuing what we do all week long and my heart is focused on Him.

Auditions for both. Some may think that that's just a little too much. But when you think of Who we're singing/playing for it should be those best at it. Winning teams audition/tryout all who come but only the best are selected. God is worth it! If your church size is an issue then you still have to go with the best of the "willing hearts". Now, do know that there still has to be some level of talent. They must be able to sing/play well. Bless you, Cassandra

This was helpful. My pastor asked me to lead praise and worship. And I have never done that before. It's a small church and not alot of people attend. I been only going to there for a month. God spoke to her to pour into me, but intersession is what I'm called to do in the church not lead in worship. Im not confident about this. And that's a big move. I need to come out of being timid. But some gifts are just for others and not for me. Prayers is mine and really what we are supposed to do. I believe she trying to help me tho.

When that happens you have to depend upon God to direct you as to (1) why there's a disconnect and (2) how to engage them. Don't be deceived, just because they're standing there doesn't mean they're but worshipping and just because their hands are up doesn't mean they are worshipping...Remember, God's looking at the heart. Great video, just came across you on RUclips. Your awesome. Can you tell me if there are biblical requirements for joining the worship team? We have people that can't sing, but want to sing and they stand out. Nobody says anything to help them. How can they be helped when they don't think they have little skills or problem?

What are your thoughts on people saying they believe they should be in the Praise team only to get into it with No energy and looking like they really don't want to be bothered? Also the team I was on was like 2 on the outside looked like they were so into it, the 3 ladies on the inside of the group just look like they were just there....on camera it just looked bad.
Hi I apologize for not seeing your question from a year ago. I hope things have improved. I would sit with each of the individuals to find out exactly why they want to be on the team. I'd ask them to describe how they feel when they are standing on the platform, singing songs to the Lord. I'd also share with them the ways the Bible says we are to express praise and worship with our bodies. As far as how they look on the stage, I'd arrange them so, the 2 on the outside were mixed in between the ones who look like they are just there. (example: jt - ii- jt - ii- jt) jt=Just there & ii= into it. Like I said, I hope things have improved. That's my few cents. Blessings, Cassandra

Hey, I was reviewing the comments from this video and I'm just checking on you. How's it going? Sorry for the lateness of my replay. I actually hold auditions for both.
There's nothing wrong with crying as long as it isn't a distraction. What I mean is, if you're unable to speak or sing clearly then it can be difficult to lead the people. In an instance like that, it's ok to allow the tears to flow, it's an human emotion, but if you are unable to clearly speak or sing, then just take a step back and allow the team to continue to minister the chorus of the song, while you graciously regain your composer. If you're unable to do, someone else should be ready to step up. This is why it's so important to have a personal worship time with God, so that you can dwell in His presence for as long as you want without anyone else, no set time frame and you can pour out your heart before Him. As a Worship Leader in cooperate worship you definitely won't be the only one who'll shed tears so be free in that area but remember your calling...to lead them in worship!
