@@piratemikestreasure Hope you find it; I wish I had pics of myself back then also. I'm 56 going on 57 so I'm just a few years younger than you I believe from things you said in earlier videos. I was one of the lucky ones that never put on weight, I just lost muscle mass as I grew older, I guess, I don't feel lucky though. I think you're in better shape than me, walking those beach's is a good thing. Watching what weight did to my Dad is part I think of why I held myself to staying slim.

I recognized that that as a bail reel arm as soon as he showed it. Feel sorry for the guy that had his rod pulled out int the ocean, I've had it happen years ago and it sucks!
When I was a kid, I was fishing in the bay across the street from my house. I heard a noise and saw my new rod and real get pulled into the water. Never saw it again.

I'm getting ready to start a metal detecting channel in Huntington Beach ,where I absolutely find nothing but junk so look out for it it's going to be called the worst metal detector in the world but anyway it's great to see everyone else find stuff on these channels

Yesterday I watched The Scottish Detectorist spend four hours digging Aluminum cans , he just wanted to share the reality of the hobby. Today I watch you get an immense cocktail ring! Good hunting. 2000 is in your future!. I spent six months in the 70's living on the beach in Hawaii, at that time the only thing in the sand was cigarette butts! LOL

If I had a camera battery that could last 10 or more hours you could see me dig up hundreds and hundreds of bottle caps a day. Were there are bottle caps there are people and people lose gold 👍
i just went to hawaii! one of the beaches i went to was littered in those old-fashioned pulltabs. a 1952 nickel under one of them though!
and i ended up finding my first gold ring, small eternity band with diamonds! fancy!

That is a nice pave diamond ring. The cameras don't do the sparkles justice. Oh that ring looks to be what is called Alpaca silver. It has other names but is not silver. Typically its mostly copper with nickle and zinc. Keep on hunting my favorite West Coast Pirate!

Oh my gosh. I love where you live. We have been to playa Del Carmen a few times. I have detected a very little bit there. Didn’t find much. But it is one of the prettiest places anywhere. You are very lucky to live there. I’m sure you get good treasure. 🏴☠️🙂

Hello. Love the videos And channel. During the video, you stated that Jim suggested resetting your 900 Beach II option. Can you suggest the best settings for black sand?
Hi James, thank you so much for being a supporter of my channel. Hopefully I can explain it. You can also text me if it’s not quite as well explained as I’m shooting for. 714-318-3865. When I’m in black sand, I run Beach 2 with all metal mode on. I turn sensitivity down depending on the black sand level. I go as low as like 10 when it’s falsing out. What jim was talking about is that when you walk down out of the black sand you should scroll back through the setting to beach 2 again. He says the machine resets itself when it struggles and knocks the sensitivity down. It is so that you are constantly readjusting as you walk in and out of the really hardcore black areas. It has helped me quite a bit. The beach we where on ( Sunset) is the worst black sand of any we hunt. It is really hard even when your adjusting. You are only getting a couple of inches underneath the black where you can detect when is that bad. I definitely get more gold as I fallow Jim’s lead. Hope that helps but your welcome to text me if you have more questions. Also, intend to leave my iron setting at tye factory setting as I’m not trying to discriminate it out. The only thing I wish tye 900 was better at is actually letting me know what is the iron. I want to hear it but I dig a lot of great targets the register as iron and a lot of deep iron that registers as a high tone. 🏴☠️🏴☠️🙂

Hi Mike...first time poster on your channel...awesome hunt and awesome ring! Hey, I use the 900 too....for about 8 months now. Doesn't the automatic ground balancing option do what Jim was suggesting? Changes the settings while you hunt (as opposed to doing it manually). Also, I've only been using 2 tone on the beaches (just to make it simpler)...do you think I am sacrificing anything by using 2 tone instead of 5? It seems like evryone uses 5. Hi Robert, thank you for commenting. I really appreciate you taking the time and supporting the channel. I really like 5 tones. I also hunt in all metal almost all the time. As far as the auto ground balance, it has real issues resetting when you walk in and out of the really thick black sand. The machine hits overload and won’t adjust fast. Since I started resetting the machine’s mode it really has help after I transition out of the deep black sand. Jim is way more technically savvy than I am. Much if my technique is based on his tutelage. Again, I really really appreciate your support. 🏴☠️🙂

Would be an epic return to film. I always hope people insure rings like the. If it’s not Insured don’t bring it to a beach. I always tell people I talk to at the beach to keep their nice stuff at home. So sad to loose a valuable ring but worse if it’s a family heirloom.
