Whitaker was my Home from 65-69, I know how blessed I was that God directed this blessing, I have nothing but thankfulness and good memories regarding this time in my life, the Home is forever a place that will live in my Heart and mind, Thank you WT Whitaker and Family you have been a Godsent to Humanity!Don D Dean
My father and four of his brothers were there approximately in 1945 to June of 1947 as wards of the state till my grandmother was able to return with proof of her ability to support them. All I have on hand is the court order returning custody to her. Unfortunately the youngest contracted diptheria and died there at the age of 6. I am planning to make a visit to the site and try to find a burial site or any information regarding the period of time they were there. Many of the things about my father were shaped by the time they spent there. As of now, one of my uncles is still alive and I would like to let him know that I have found Baby Gene. I hope there will be records or an arch8ve available to search.
Maurice, Sorry I did not reply to your comment. I lost my RUclips account for some time. Thanks for your comments. I hope to write a book about W.T. in the future. Such a wonderful Christian man. Bill
My grandmother was there in the 50s. Her and her sister. She has been trying to get in touch with them over the years with no luck. How could I find any info to help?
It became a military school in 1993 and I actually attended school here in 2012. It’s called Thunderbird youth academy ran by the national guard. I’m sure you can give them a call.
