More on Dave free, he been friends with Kendrick since highschool, Dave actually tricked top dawg into signing Kendrick and eventually became president of TDE (Kendrick, Sza, Isaiah Rashad etc) there film making group is called “the lil homies”
@@shormere1612 back when they were still underground top was looking for someone who could fix his computer, Dave lied and said he knew how, went over there and started randomly taking shit apart and putting it back together while playing Kendrick’s mixtape in the background. This video just changed my view on their videos. I never got a creepy vibe from them till now, usually just felt more of a organized or extreme wealth vibe from them
I believe the lyrics on rich spirit is "no phone" which also relates to being lonely with communication that's we see in the video the wire is cut instead of a broken phone.
Dave Free also likes to sprinkle cinematic references. I’m pretty sure the bold red text in N95 (THIS SHIT HARD) is an homage to Heneke’s Funny Games, which is a fairly dark film.
yo this was a nice watch, pglang has interested me for the longest, baby keem's music videos introduced me to them and I just love the general aesthetic of the company, excited to see what they put out visually in the coming years.
this video has sum great takes on pgLang's videos. I especially like the point bout liminal spaces cuz that's really where I sit wit em. keep up the good work brobro!
Thank you all so much for the support on this video!!! I didn't even expect this video to get so much love, I will definitely have more videos like this coming soon.
"It's lonely at the top, all of my enimes have been defeated!," is a perfect example as to what was going through Kendrick Lamar"s production process. Song: That Just Empirically Isn't Possible: $uicideboy$
Love the explanation to this, I’ve always felt some Eriee and ominous feeling to these videos, but that’s what makes these art, it’s just a matter of how we the viewers interpret it. Good work 🙏🙏
My thoughts/analysis on the album: The song title Rich Spirit is contradicting. He brags about the spirituality and how he is enlightened but in reality it makes him a hypocrite and full of ego(Which btw Eckhart Tolle talks all the time). I feel like Kendrick is severely lost and confused person, I mean imagine the burden he is carrying around the hype of his every album, expectations are crazy. I read a lot about creativity and music catharsis how artists can get addicted to the process and the cycle of creating music. This pattern literally creates a disorder in your mind especially if you are creative and original as Kendrick: "glitching from the face as my thoughts grow sacredly", imagine the shit he goes through to feel like that? Its like an extreme mood swing, from erratic to depressed and he feels cathartic and I think thats where Kendrick is stuck at. He is trying to create catharsis through positivity but its inevitable as u can see he is so unconcious and deep in that process, cycle and pattern he literally creates a song calls it "Rich Spirit" its such a paradox tho. After he dropped MMATBS he said he is "dropping the ego' in an interview, I think this is the last supreme Kendrick album we gon get because to me he seems to be trying to change the patterns that keep him in that cycle. While he is laying on the floor he looks dead inside, u can see him dancing then suddenly being quite its so polarizing. The clothes he wears are also symbolic and the room he is in like theres it looks like a standard human being house he is not materialistic at all, the broken phone wire - talking to himself. At the end when he is wearing all white it looks like an enlightened version of Kendrick u can see him dancing and his hand movements are "holding" something in the air, its the mental stability he is trying to reach or you can call it nirvana since he does mention buddhism in the song(Rich Spirit) then suddenly someone calls him he looks carefully back representing the trauma and thought patterns coming in. I can write a whole album analysis bcs I feel like I can look through the lines what they really mean. Anyways, nice video !
Fantastic video, always wondered why PGLang is the way it is, but I love what there doing, I see em as a Bizzaro version of Lyrical Lemonade sometimes lol
I think they're purposefully creepy to catch your attention. Also some of the questions brought up in the PG Lang ads are vaguely spiritual which can easily creep some people out.
If you read the power of now everything makes sense also a little reference to african spirituality only the looking at the sun part I dont get but that could be african spirituality too I feel or some other thing
Even the in the pglang phone 📞 isolation from social media connectivity is @ the core of its methodology. Self reliance goes against the commercial corporate mindset of today but this mindset is in direct line with Generation ALPHA & the real challenges of a future where the skills & jobs needed to survive have yet to be created. Future Shock 😮
Great video. I remember in this CALMATIC (Director of Rich Spirit) interview where he attempted to explain what the Rich Spirit video meant. The loneliness and Depressing aspect of it was definitely intentional. Link, timestamp is 23:21 - 24:35: ruclips.net/video/1D4Yd9y0DIw/видео.html
i dont find them creepy, i find the pg lang videos comforting, cause of the nothingness, the lack of sound, shoot locations and the erratic movements of the people
well done buddy! thanks for your analysis :) EDIT: Maybe you could consider this similar to what Donald Glover does in Atlanta. That's called afro-surrealism. Not saying pgLang is aiming for that, but they do have a similar visual style haha
More on Dave free, he been friends with Kendrick since highschool, Dave actually tricked top dawg into signing Kendrick and eventually became president of TDE (Kendrick, Sza, Isaiah Rashad etc) there film making group is called “the lil homies”

how did he tricked top dawg though?

I also think these videos master the art of saying everything but nothing at the same time and leaving things up for interpretation
Very true.
Also, simplicity in visuals in the music videos gives so much more space for the song itself to fill up.

Holy crap, that's insane!!! That fits too well!!
It's not creepy bro, it's called minimalism, and the still parts where there's no movement is called tableaux.

Thank you! Also, this is a pretty good analysis of the album. There was few things in there that I didn't think of. Great job!!
Honestly, they just look like literally just fashion product placement advertisements...
Yeah, I could see that, it's just the energy it presents yk?
Idk man but u should check out some article on afro- surrealism maybe . Great video though
Thank you,. The thing is, I see afro-surrealism a bit differently than what Kendrick presents. To me it's more plain than the average example.
