- Opening day of red snapper was a bit of a grind for us late anglers. That's just my schedule and it takes me 45 minutes to drive to Navarre. We were on the reefs at 10ish and landed on the beach a 2:15pm. I did manage to get a limit so I'm pretty happy about that. If there are any PFD concerns I will vouch for these guys. They are very strong swimmers and had PFDs onboard. I had zero concerns and conditions were excellent.

So awesome to see how patient and free you are with teaching your friends. Just stumbled on your channel yesterday and really enjoying your content.
Thank you! I appreciate it!
Great catch!
Thanks!
I need to go visit bro.
For real you do bro!
Sick catch! What knot do you use for your 40lb mono setup because mine don’t seem to cinch down when rigging my Carolina rig
Thank you! I use a uni knot for most of my rigs, even braid to mono I use a uni to uni. Every now and then I will do an FG for line to line if I need a longer leader and the knot will be going through the guides a lot. For the uni knot I always do 5 wraps, wet it (I just use saliva), and it always cinches just fine. I tend to pull the tag end fairly snug before I start cinching the knot. Sometimes I have to help slide the knot with one hand while I cinch with the other when the line I'm using is larger.
@@oafishing Ok thanks I’ll for sure try that
Great job! An on-the-water clinic by Big O! Then scoring on your go-to jig/paddle tail.
Thanks Joe! I'm trying to give away my "secrets" lol. That paddle tail is my big time confidence bait.
What model Kayak. Have you thought about the I believe it is the outback tandem for more room.
I have a 2017 Hobie Outback. I've never really considered it but have seen it done as a single kayaker with the extra space. I'm fairly satisfied with the amount of space I have now and will most likely stick with a single seater kayak. I think the tandem one they have now is the Mirage Oasis.
I’m trying to buy same rod as your avid
What line weight is it
10-20 ??
Thank you
Yes, the rated line weight for the rod is 10-20.
Glad you were able to get out there & hammer some of those red snapper. Maybe one day I can join you on such an adventure. Good video as always.
Thank you! I appreciate the support. I’m glad I made it out for opening day. Hopefully one of these days. I’ll be off work for a couple of weeks in July and should be out there again.
Hey man do you live near Destin? Would you want to go try to catch some fish in mid-May?
Yes I do. I'm currently out for work and won't be back for at least another couple of weeks. I'm hoping to get on the water just before or on Memorial Day weekend.
Hi what kind of kayak do you prefer for that kind of fishing
Pro angler 12 or outback?
Thank you so much
I have only used my 2017 outback. I've had friends take out PA 14s. I would say a PA is awesome to have out there, provides a lot more stability and comfort when fishing. The only issue with a PA is it's so heavy and it's a workout getting it to the water and also back to the truck after fishing all day but on the water its great. I hope this info helps.
@@oafishing thank you so much
that thing was a tank dude.
Thanks man! He was solid!
For snapper you want your drag super tight?
Yes, gotta be able to keep them out of the structure. Once they start coming along you can let up on the drag some. If you're on a kayak just make sure you do your best to keep your rod closer to the bow to prevent a fish from tipping you sideways.
Gorgeous snapper. Congrats on your limit.
Thank you!
Your “not a bad day” is my best day out on the water 😂😂
What I meant to say was that I had a pretty good day lol, I just wish the guys that were with me could’ve caught more fish which would’ve made it even better.
@@oafishing Just pulling your leg brother. Love your videos man. Always slaying them. Can’t wait to see what you got coming out next! 🙌🏻
@@brianbodolay lol right on brother. I appreciate the support. It's looking like another offshore trip but we'll see, I'm also itching to look for some tarpon.
Where can I buy that type of hook you are using?
Those circle hook jigheads are made by Birds of Prey. You can pick them up at some of the local tackle shops. I do believe you can order them online as well. They also have the cyclops eye ones as well.
What is the line weight on your st croix avid?
Thank you so much
15 lb PowerPro V2 Slick Braid as main line and 40 lb Andes Monofilament as leader.
Is this in Miami?
No, this is in Northwest Florida panhandle.
Heck yeah, showing us how it's done with artificial! 🤙🏼
Bro that’s my confidence lure!
Awesome job helping out your mates!! That was a heck of a day fishing, I would love to be able to do that. Landlocked in the Midwest, I’ll be down there in October. Take care.
Thank you! There will be some weekends in the fall that will be open for red snapper so will definitely have a chance to catch some and keep.
Where’s the easiest spots to launch around Navarre or destin? Recently moved to the area and it seems hard to get a close launching spot.
I launched out of 40D/40G on the far east side from the pier. You can google gulf side reef and it'll put you at the spot. There is a ramp at 40G that leads you to the water and its fairly easy if you have wheels for your kayak. For Destin there are a couple of public spots along the beach but I mainly launch out of Henderson Beach.
@@oafishing thank you I really appreciate it
Are you a fishing guide?
I’m not. Maybe one day.
Nice 👌
Thank you!👊🤙
