The stylists dress a great deal of celebs unless there was a special agreement earlier. They grab several gowns, meet the celebs at heir hotel room and start trying on. They agree on a look and pick shoes, purse, and jewelry if any. Meanwhile while all of this is happening, someone is doing their hair and makeup. Someone would also make minor alterations so that b**bs don't pop out and such. This is a crazy hectic event
I was wondering that too. There's only a few I knew. I think it's because there are just so many shows out there nowadays with all the streaming channels.
These dresses convince me that design and tailoring are dead - dreadful sub standard garments. There are better made dresses being sold on Shein and Temu.
What has happened to design, glamour, elegance and TASTE!!! The dresses are either ridiculous and over the top or plain and boring. Only a handful of ladies were actually well dressed
I'm shocked by how many of these celebrities just don't choose the right colours. I would have assumed they had access to experts who know colour seasons.
They probably just listen to their designers, etc. and figure they should know! Maybe a designer just wants to prank so,e of these mostly women??? Put them into the most hideous dress possible just for the publicity!
The design of the dress was gorgeous. The needed some tweaking. Mindy Kaling looked good, bust need some tweaks Sofia did look gorgeous in the lower part of dress. Falling out of the bodice.
They would all look better if they dressed like Catherine, Princess of Wales. I know no one could carry off the gold James Bond dress. But there are many examples which would make most of these folks look a lot better.
It never ceases to amaze me that the stylists and designers can take a bunch of very attractive people with very nice figures and not dress them properly. As you say, Beebs, so many were ill fitting, wrinkly, unflattering, not styled well. It is truly astounding. They should all hire you as their stylist.... I'm sure they would look way better. Thanks for a great video!❤❤
Beebs, when I was a kid there used to be ads on the telly which advertised bras etc and the tag line was it "Lifts and Separates" I kid you not. It could have been Miss Mary of Sweden or some of those other wonderbra things, We're talking late 1960's
@elanaLlama haha. I remember them as being rather pointed too. Not Madonna corset pointed but a but sort of triangular rather than conical. I wish I could remember the name of the bra. I know they were expensive and it was only well heeled women with plenty of money who seemed to wear them. I think the Slimcia girl wore one too! She seemed to be at attention in the bust area as she went up in her balloon Hahaha I love old adverts.
Mom says if you have nothing nice to say don't say anything, so I will simply say that the Emmys must be saving a crapton of money on post-event floor cleaning since so many of the dresses are doing it for them. Great video, Beebs!
Not enough words for the tinfoil/tarpaper nightmare. Some women will wear anything because of the name attached to it, and of course, the pricetag . M. Markle is proof that cost doesn't equal couture. I wear what looks good on ME. I'm not influenced by names or pricetags. There's also a way to look sexy without looking sleazy ; too many women, esp. those over 50, look like they're desperate to be 21 again.
I love your fashion reviews, especially how you explain why the dress does not work. Watching your vids have helped me to dress a lot better. I now know how to choose clothing - colours and cuts which balance my figure and more importantly, what not to wear for my body type.
You are so good and today you have outdone yourself. As a person of colour, you have 💯 got it right with Viola Davies. I could listen to that over and over.
That's what I was thinking with almost every gown. All the bare chests without a little sparkle to detract from the failed designs. I guess I'm old fashioned. 🤷🏻
I watched a documentary about Prince the other day. He dressed beautifully. A diminutive male with total style and class. It's impossible to take your eye away from him. Eminem isn't the tallest guy in the world but he always looks well put together. Taller men take note ❤
A good bustline seems to be impossible for most celebs these days. Showing a squashed bust is not sexy or elegant, so what are they going for? Looks so uncomfortable
None of these looks, both men and women, looked good to me. Omg, that foil dress looked like she just landed from Mars. That pink bubble gum color dress with the wing cups looked ridiculous! The designers these days are horrible.
Some of these look like they’re directly from an OTT fashion show. I’ve said it before, just because a fashion house designs it doesn’t make it nice or wearable for any occasion 🤷♀️
Whoever is her stylist should have resigned. Nicola is a “pocket Venus” with a beautiful face, short neck, curves galore, and luminous skin. She needs more of a fifties/early sixties fitted gowns that are simple in silhouette, supports her bust, plays up her waist, and minimal or no pattern, and no extra volume. Perhaps have a gorgeous silk chiffon skirt or organza that flows and adds movement and plays on her femininity. While Nicola loves fashion she needs to remain tailored for day without the extra long sleeves or giant shoulders. Utilize wonderful quality fabrics. Go to a bespoke tailor and have an array of suits created. Granted you lose the name brand designer but she would look chic. Perhaps look to accessories to add the pizzazz. A simple background that is structured and fitted properly is the best framework for major jewels at the ears, brooches, rings, and bracelets. I would recommend she stay away from necklaces as there is such a short distance between her cleavage to her chin.
Poor Nicola in that silver stiff disaster! She looked amazing on Bridgerton, she should have leaned into some of those colours with maybe a dramatic v or sweetheart neck.
I agree 7:37 Viola is beautiful and her body highlighter needed a more sheer golden hue! Otherwise I really loved the dress and her hair. ❤ Sophia's red dress reminds me of M's tragic tomatoe dress 😂😂😂 19:55 Wow! I haven't seen such perfect seams in a long time! Gorgeous!!
I agree with your comments especially in regard to the strapless dresses looking like they were falling down !! Yikes...pull them up ladies it's not flattering
Your intelligent approach to these fashion dresses are so illuminating! I know when a dress looks a bit wrong, but not why! Unless it's that ghastly pink number with the flyaway shoulders! Great commentary, Beebs. Thanks xx
Don't these people have stylists? And, if you ever!! have a chance to borrow a Tiffany, Cartier, or Bulgari necklace, this is the occasion. If I know this, why don't they? Beebs, they need your help!!
My favorites were Christine Baranski, Niecy Nash, Amy Elliot, and Gina Torres. Everthing else was either too costume-y, boring, awful, tacky, or just meh. I will be so glad when the silly costume trend is over. Ugh.
I would like to see the return of opera gloves. Bare arms with so much 👗 dress makes these women seem self conscious of their naked arms. Or am I still in love with the 1950s from whence I came? What say you Miss Beebs? What a fashion wiz Miss Beebs is. I love listening to her on any and all subjects. So.wise,.kind and fair.
The 40s to first half of the 50s had style all day. The rest of the 50s had style in the evenings. The 60s had some gems but were deteriorating. A lot of these costumes reminded me of the over the top 70s and 80s. Give me Norman Hartnell any day.
