Read this before you post a comment about the rear tyre, or what year it is.
It had a Trials tyre on it because I was dirt track racing it. If you don't know what dirt track racing is, use Google.
Yes, it is an '85 model. Yes, it originally had the white and red plastics. I changed them to the Yellow because I prefer the Yellow and Black.
My dad bought me a YZ50 “Death on two wheels” right off the show room floor in 1980, it was brutally quick on the start and fast on top end. I’m now 53 and still have it to this day.

lol, in 1980 I asked my dad to lend me money for an RM 80 - dad just "nope, are you out of your mind, what an idiot's machine" lols, some kids have all the luck. Now dad's long gone. Bless him - after all. He was interested in classic music and arts. Dirt bikes? - Not so much. I'm 56 now.
I'm 54, those were the days!!! 2 strokes are awesome!

@@AdrenalineRushMX also a lot of people in Europe ride them, here 2 strokes are so common. Basically every teen that has a 50cc license has a 2 stroke and every teen that has a 125cc license has or wants a 2 stroke

I´m now 53 and had a new `83 YZ 250K in 84. More than a Dream for a 14 Year old Boy coming from 125cc !! 1,5 Yeras later i drove a brandnew `86 YZ 490 as the youngest rider in the 500cc class. Fine Times !!!
My dad has Yamaha yz490 1982 and it is amazing! The voice of the bike real amazing, it is real big dirtbike and of course it is 2 STROKE!!!!!

Ta man. It is actually a 1985. I loved the yellow and black so much in the 80s when I was a kid, that when I got this one I changed the plastics from the white and red to the yellow and black.

@@tonyschultz557 all over the place. Most bits came from the US. There was a supplier here that I got a lot of stuff from, but pretty sure it has since folded. Lots of info on the OZVMX Facebook page. They should be able to point you towards whoever is supplying parts now.

I did mine in IT blue with a clarke tank and IT fenders and side plates the best IT250 yamaha never made!

eyup mr moto i gotta 2000 model yz 250 just rebuilt it engine link bearings got it on road so it insured nice beast i love the early YZs as a kid i had a 83 YZ 125 loved that bike in 2 yrs of ownin it did nothin to it it req only one rebore and piston that wos the old silkolene for you treacle and kept ure mota A 1

Even the vintage Moto III Helmet < the beginning of the modern style MX Helmet. The previous full face were basically street Helmets without a shield.
I love YZs I had a 250 and 400 YZ and they both kicked ass. Do you still own it buddy.

I'm 53 and just bought a 2022 kawasaki klr 650 4 stroke it's nice but the yz 250 would walk on it
That's a 84 85 to 93 had red white plastics 84 and down had yellow n black
