    In this video we repair the central locking mechanism of a Bugaboo Cameleon 3. This repair is neccessary if one or both sides of the handle no longer lock in place (handle falls down, no resistance), or if it is no longer possible to fold your stroller down. This is a long and comprehensive video, taking you through the entire process of disassembling (opening) the mechanism, assessing which parts have been damaged (worn, defective), replacing the damaged parts, and reassembling the mechanism. We also use a repaired disk in this video. If you want to repair your own central locking disk, then search our channel for our video concerning how to repair the disk yourself.

    Huge thank you for the detailed explanation! Just fixed mine one.
    It was so hard to open the cap and the washer even though I had watched your video. Almost was about to give up. But finally did it.
    I used super glue + baking soda to put the pins back and it worked just like magic. The pins became really strong in about 5 minutes. Let's see how long it would last.
    Also I found out that you can use a regular plastic cap from the bottle to hammer back the washer with just one hit. The washer remains flat.

    Just managed to fix my Cameleon 3 thanks to your video! Removing that first cap was crazy difficult! Once I had it apart, I was surprised to see that my disk was not broken, nor was there a lot of wear on the adjacent pieces. So I guess that it was the wire that disengaged from the lock wheel? I reassembled it, with some difficulty and a few tries, and it seems to be working again. I suspect that wire could disengage from the wheel again in the future, and will probably glue something very small behind it to lift it a bit more. Hopefully it won't be necessary though!
    Thanks for your detailed video!

    amazing! actually good to see you struggle with every part as i could really see what was going on (better than a slick video where everything works perfectly). we had to fix both sides at once

    I was able to fix my Bugaboo thanks to your video! I just Krazy glued the broken parts and it's working good up to now! If it breaks again I'll buy the 3D printed parts. I wanted to try glue before anything. Thanks!

    Thanks a lot. After watching this video 10 times I managed to fix the 1st side of the caméléon. Now off to the other ;)
    I used some strong scotch tape to hold the pieces together while I was putting back the teethed washer. This way I could use my 2 hands. Also for that part, I found that using an empty tape roll between the washer and the hammer is PER-FECT to gently squeeze it into place. The hole in the tape roll is just the side of the washer ;)

    Thanks for the video, stroller fixed !
    Instead of the rivet I used a small m4 nut (it fits perfectly into the lower part of the disk with a bit of glue). Then I putted a m4 screw (without the head) from above. It seems to hold strong enough

    Thanks a lot for your videos, very descriptive! One question: the wire of the central disk keeps coming out of the hole of the disk. Do you know why? Is there a way to fix that? Thanks.

      This is such a horribly fiddly system to disassemble and fix. :) If everything else is clean and undamaged, then it's really just about disassembling and reassembling, until it works right, otherwise, this means that the elevation is off somehow, or the reassembly isn't tight enough. Best of luck!

    Hi, I'm wondering how to fix the handle slide mechanism. I mean the white flaps that allow you to lengthen the holding bar. They don't fixate the position of the bar anymore because they somehow lost the friction.

  • @Oldtimeytools

    Thanks for the video, I did everything as stated, created new pins with screws, but when I put everything together it still doesn’t lock the handle in place? Did I assemble it incorrectly? I’m scratching my head

    • @BarnevognverkstedNo
      @BarnevognverkstedNo  3 года назад +1

      This is a ridiculously fiddly repair, unfortunately - a few milimeters can mess it all up. Try taking it apart and putting it back together a couple times if necessary, and look to correct thickness / height differences on your pin-disk (also look for damage on the surrounding housing elements which might be preventing the metal pieces from holding tight). Note that if everything looks ok, it can still get knocked out of place during reassembly - hence the possibility for needing to reassemble it multiple times. I feel your pain :)

    I ordered the disk for the wrong side. Be sure to check which side you need (it's printed on the disk) before your order.
    So in case anyone needs a disk for R, let me know in the comments

    Hi there just came across your video we hope to fix the folding mechanism on our cameleon 3 it clicks into place on one side (the small wheels side) but not on main side where handle is above big wheels however how do I know which side of the folding mechanism is broken? Thank you

    • @marialuise9063
      @marialuise9063 3 года назад

      I think you press the button in on one side and if there is no resistence when you move it, it's the other side that is broken. Lock side breaks more.

  • @hannahdixon6635
    @hannahdixon6635 4 года назад

    My handle locks and when I test each side with the button it doesn’t drop down but it is more wobbly than it was when new. I got it second hand and my friend said she had lots of bags on it over the years so that’s made it more wobbly I’m sure. But if it still locks well but is too wobbly (and drops slightly more on the left side when pushing down on it) what needs replacing?

    • @BarnevognverkstedNo
      @BarnevognverkstedNo  4 года назад

      Nothing, unless you want to replace nearly everything related to the first and second disks. And even then, a certain amount of looseness is to be expected with this model. See this video: ruclips.net/video/Zb1ttc8ydDs/видео.html

      the smaller parts can be ordered from Shapeways, search BugabooRepairGuy. For the arger parts, you unfortunately need to take them off another chassis, search online used markets like ebay for chassis that are defective in other ways. :)
