The biggest thing about Royal oppression was the ruling it had during goat Format. You had to already have it active to trigger it. You couldn’t have it set and active it and then trigger it all in response to a scapegoat like you could during Teledad, which is what made Royal Oppression less sneaky and easy to play around.
that is the dumbest fucking ruling ive ever heard i love goat format i play it every day but fuck does it have some bullshit rulings dont get me started on ignition effects
Rulings at the time made it kind of worthless, which is why it didn't see any play when it originally came out. With rulings at the time it had to be already flipped up to negate any summons. You couldn't flip it up in response to a summon to negate it. The card became much better after they changed that ruling
Would strike ninja be a good alternative to necrofear? It isn't threatened by many normal summons in the format (except for kycoo) and its return in the end phase can't be negated with oppression. It seems to fit the "force your opponent into suboptimal trades" motif. In fact, Interdimensional Matter Transporter might be a fun alternative to My Body. It could save your tomatoes without the 1500 burn. Mystic Plasma Zone would make tomatoes "big" and drop opposing spies to 1600 def. Kycoo is still a problem though. Really cool deck overall. Lots of great inspiration here.
Love the Strike Ninja idea, definitely want to try that out! Big fan of Mystic Plasma Zone, too, have been feeling out whether it would be too symmetrical. Matter Transporter doesn't cost life, but does potentially leave you open to swings, I could see either working.
Interesting to see a list actually maining Royal Oppression. Did you have any trouble with timing? Since in Goat you can’t flip and activate the effect in the same chain.
If only there were Synchros, Xyzs, and Links for Royal Oppression to stop. Jokes aside, Spirit Reaper and Don Zaloog together is important for a consistent way to clear hand cards. Removing just one is something your opponent can shake off. Removing two is like you took their literal fingers too.
Have you ever played against Chaos Turbo before? This deck seems like it has no legs against it unless opponent plays straight into oppression (which in goats you have to flip ahead of time).
They do still have to answer the oppression and potentially deal with Kycoo. If they don't have it immediately, that's a lot of time for us to set up more counterplays
@@LateStageYGO and the setting flips every turn isn’t a problem? This exact deck but with skill drain over oppression (or maybe in addition) seems a lot scarier.
Awesome, thank you! I didn't go over the whole side deck, just the stuff I thought was unique or necessary - I'd encourage everyone to fill out the rest according to their local meta!
Royal Command might be even better than Skill Drain, as we don't play any flip effects here, and it shuts down so many decks. Also, is there a reason for not running Duo or Ring?
Very simple reason: don't own copies lol. Others in my meta run them and I might run them if I had them already, but this stack is still performing highly as-is
@@LateStageYGO Yep, that makes sense. I run Convert Contact (Neo-Spacian version of Allure of Darkness) instead of Duo, as a placeholder. Its art kind of reminds of what Duo does
I've been testing it on Dueling book, so far I would say a have a 60% win rate however I didn't know about how was the ruling during the goat day (neither my opponents) so I have to go back to square one and play some more. I changed dustshoot for Duo but I side it out if I need to. Also I side out opppression but other times I play both oppression and skill drain. Finally ceasefire because sometimes comes in handy against defensive decks and dustshoot because sometimes I prefer it over duo for mind games. Great data, thanks for reporting back! The element of surprise is certainly a huge factor. And agree, sometimes you want all the floodgates, sometimes they slow you down, and one thing I enjoy is how smoothly you can transifgure between games in a match
It's me again with another report, lately I've been playing more and now I could say that I have a 30% winrate at most, I had a 20 loose-streak yesterday so I'm seriously considering on making some big changes or dropping the deck entirely. I recognize that sometimes it's because I bricked or I miss-played Burn decks in general are the worst enemy of this deck, unless you draw immediately the side deck, gravity bind it's a kick in the balls Chaos turbo/dimension gate/earth aggro it depends a lot what I draw, sometimes the floodgates stop them completely, other times I draw them too late. Rouge decks: the sheer amount of variety that is around dueling book it's impressive, it's difficult to side deck when you are the one affected by the surprise factor, even one match I lost against "hino-kagu-tsuchi turbo" After I made the previous comment, I added strike ninja and lightning vortex sidding out 1 ha des and necrofear because most of the time that I could summon necrofear I had oppression on field. It's still happening a lot that my opponents don't know that you CANNOT use oppression to negate germ or tomato Even though I don't regret the statement that I had fun, that humongous bad luck streak seriously demotivated me to keep trying that much more this deck. I hope that someone else try this deck, fine tunning it and to let us know if that happen :D
@@El.coresss Once again, bravo on the detailed analysis here! Sorry it wasn't working out for you - it seems like retro formats have picked up a lot of steam over the past year since we made this vid and people's creativity has really shaken up Goat. I concur with others, this deck is pure genius and needs more eyes on it because it surely has potential
As someone with a passing interest in Goats/older formats, I am shocked to find out Royal Opression was released all the way back in 2003
You're not alone in that!

Thanks for the clapper of a deck profile!!! Looks really cool! Oppression is definitely under explored in the format I didn’t even know it was legal 😂
Was trying a similiar deck with 3x Zombyra, DDVirus and Skill drain as well. Deck kicks ass!
i played that deck for years back in the day. crazy to see somebody else was playing the same shit. High five bro!
Loved learning about the list and hope you do more of these!
Interesting to see a list actually maining Royal Oppression. Did you have any trouble with timing? Since in Goat you can’t flip and activate the effect in the same chain.
Generally I was able to anticipate the big play and flip it while they were setting up, but yeah that's definitely a big part of piloting this.
This deck is a spicy-a-meatball!
Side note, if you can negate the activation of something you can use that in the damage step also.
Subbed for potentially more goat stuff ^^

That's a reasonable assessment, I do reach for those skill drains in the side a lot
It’s official, it’s the best fiend deck. 3 germ, ha des, newdoria, NECROFEAR. It’s a fiend deck and it’s actually good 👍🏻
cool deck with nice ideas. definitely will try this out.
My mans summoned the forbidden one twice in one day. I hate/love it, since i was one of them he obilterated. And he did it with call of the hunted.
Might have to be our next profile lol

going to try this out with zombies!

Can you explain how does Creature swap work in this deck?
You just creature swap your newdoria and tomato and attack into them so you’re guaranteed value
Seems like a high monster count
I always knew ha des was underrated
im suprised in a grindy deck like this you wouldnt run deliquent duo for the free plus 1
If you swap lava golem then steal it back do you get +1k
Depends how nice you are to it
Why isn’t he playing duo?
I guess because Duo cost 1000 and isn't that great of a top deck. But yeah
No pot of greed? duo? graceful charity?
