I was expecting a comment like this coz I was watching chan's room and this video came to my mind immediately. I saw this a month ago and I thought Changbin couldn't be wrong and I enjoyed the the explanation. Now Chan confirming this and looking so proud of Changbin is all I needed.
One thing I noticed about Changbin is that if he knows he made a mistake he will talk about it. Like that time he addressed his mistake in Kingdom in Chan's room. Or all the other times when he said he could've done better on Bubble (when he didn't really make any mistakes). So the fact that he didn't say anything about that makes me believe that it was actually intentional. It's Changbin at the end of the day so....
I was like “what was that?!” Then i adjusted the speed to 0.75x, it’s exactly how u transcripted, and u can totally tell he wrote it that way by his facial expression. He is such a KING!!! My bias right there, so proud 👑
I actually really like when rappers try fitting more syllables, than its supposed to be on 1 beat, I don't know its just satisfying to hear for me, and also the more I listen to it I am convinced it is intentional, but I still really liked how it sounded
You _have_ heard a fivelet in kpop -- and you heard it from Changbin. :) He does it in the pansori section in Thunderous! It sounds different there because of the style he uses, but it's a fivelet (at least as best as my drummer ears and a crew of classical musicians can tell). Iirc, it's actually two fivelets, but I'm exhausted and not up to going and re-evaluating it rn. But yeah, Changbin's bringing the fivelets to kpop, and I'm here for it. Anyway, this was definitely intentional. If people are out there saying it was a flub, maybe it sounds wrong to people who just aren't that invested in/knowledgeable about/used to rhythms outside the most commonly heard ones (or are members of the usual little team of SKZ antis who devote their lives to paying avid attention to a group they supposedly hate, just so they can find things to criticize)? But it never for a moment sounded off to me, even the first time I heard it. I instantly went, "Ah! He did it again!" and was excited at the evidence that he's continuing to expand that kind of exploration beyond the standard kpop boundaries. But even if someone isn't that invested in rhythms, just watching his face should be enough to show that it was intentional, and then add in that neither of the others reacted either AND that blowing a beat there would have been hard to recover from, and it's pretty unquestionable. (I admit I'd be impressed if someone managed to do an _accidental_ fivelet, or a corrective fivelet on the fly in the space of one beat, but nah. He's done a fivelet deliberately before, and he just did it again in a new song.)
Which part of Thunderous?? Now I am interested . I have pretty good hearing but I am trash with rythym for some reason and don't know how to fix it . So I didn't notice
@@behindzerosp In the little pansori-esque section (second part of Changbin's rap in the first verse, when he's wielding the fan). Because of the style he does that section in, it's understandable that people notice the style rather than the rhythm. :)
Thank you for this video mate.. Congratulations too. CHAN knows about this video and thanks for protecting changbin.. We never knew we need this.very very much thank you 😭😭
So your proposing he intended to go from straight triplets to straights 16ths? Na. I still maintain it’s intentional. It’s too cool and the rhythm is. A bit too complicated to just mess up and nail it. At least I would think. Either way it’s awesome because he wrote it, or it’s awesome because he recovered so beautifully.
Honestly this time I don't think he messed up at all, that seemed intentional to me, I think he wanted to end his part like that since the rest isn't particularly complex, it's pretty normal for a Changbin rap.
The thing is. I honestly think it's intentional. The thing is ... (In my opinion at least) Changbin has /been/ transcending "KPop" for a while and even with Mirror Mirror he said on Bubble that he missed doing that type of rap .. So maybe with where they're moving as a group now he's going to start doing new things and doing the things that he really wants to do ... It feels like all of Stray Kids are kind of finding their voice and evolving .. Changbin wouldn't be Changbin if he didn't evolve as well... I'm really hoping that Mirror Mirror and Hey Monster serves as the kind of gateway to the rapper he wants to become.. 💭 like of course he has been working up to it for so long and he always leaves me in awe, but I really doubt that we've seen what he can really do....
THIS. He is not even 25 bro, we def haven't seen what he can do at his full potential, and has already left us all in awe so many times, I think the time is close when we see him evolve into smth really just beyond a good rapper in a good grp. He is really gonna move for doing rap the way he really thinks it should be done. And this apply to most skz members.
@@Librarian2406 I also noticed it with the entire group!! Chan's vocals are definitely different, Seungmin is trying new things, Felix is singing, Jeongin and Minho gained SO much confidence, Hyunjin - it kind of feels like he's starting to find his little space in rap that can also distinguish him, and Han? I have no words, I mean Scissor? His part in the AAA stage? It was absolutely phenomenal. But Changbin... I think I'll always been in awe of him. It feels like last year and this year was a bit of a transitional period where they kind of had to reestablish themselves and find their strengths... But I honestly do think we're not ready for what they will do next year (or at least, I'm not ready). Changbin has been playing around with tones and inserts so much that I really think next year or 2023 will be their time, when we really see what they're made of. I mean for a group of 21-25 year olds they are absolutely phenomenal. And I'll stop my rant right here, before I type another three paragraphs, but I agree with everything you said. I honestly feel like 3racha is busy rewriting what everyone knows about "KPop" rap and will soon not be bound by that anymore... Or at least I hope so...
@@lynx9894 I think Hyunjin's really coming into his own lately with his dancing/focusing more on his dancing as illustrated in this fantastic video breakdown ruclips.net/video/T61qNE4me4o/видео.html

I grew up tap dancing pretty extensively, and like in drumming and rapping, we play around with rhythms quite a bit and to the untrained ear, it can sound offbeat. It never once crossed my mind that Changbin was rapping offbeat because 1) he is one of the best rappers in gen 4 if not one of the top idol rappers of all time and 2) it sounded so clearly intentional to me, and I just sat there dumbfounded by the genius I had just witnessed. I don't know why antis even waste their time tearing down people at all, but trying to tear down Changin's rapping is as special kind of idiotic.
Lol I love all these comments, yeah I think Chan indirectly mentioned you! Love your videos thank you for always debunking kpop myths especially about stray kids and Changbin, my ult!
He’s done something like this before. Another channel, React to the K (they’re classical/jazz musicians) and one group of them mentioned how crazy it is that changbin did something like this in Thunderous. I think it’s the part where he says “get back woodcutter” or something. ruclips.net/video/mS2xtX8O59k/видео.html It’s like minute 6:45 there about. They comment on how difficult it is to line that up perfectly with the rhythm he was already going at before and then after. I personally don’t think Changbin would do this accidentally. He’s too intentionally with his rapping,
Hello dude! Thank you so much for this breakdown honestly! I just wanna say that Chan talked about this (and your video) on today's Chans room episode 142 (around 40 min in). As far as I understood it Changbin did this intentionally. He truly is more amazing than most people realize!
I transcribe (turn songs into scores/sheet music) Stray Kids songs on my channel because I'm quite good at recognising melodies. But I'm not very good at transcribing rap parts even if they're fairly simple. I avoid transcribing actual rap-heavy songs, especially Changbin's parts, because he's on a level that is truly beyond my skill ceiling LOL. This video is great at showing his genius.
I don't know much about rapping and stuff, but it sounded beautiful from the first time I heard it and knowing what he's done before I think it's intentional
I thought it sounded great from the first time I heard it. I never thought it wasn’t intentional. Edit: I went back and watched his facial expression and there wasn’t a flinch.
I don't know if there will be an official Version of hey Monster because it sounds like an "extended version" of cheese or the instrumental sounds like cheese in my opinion. And i don't think they will release a song so similar to cheese it probably was just for mama
it might be on a purpose cuz we know Changbin is that kind of crazy rapper. if it was a mistake Changbin would say that he messed up. he always says this stuff.
For me personally Changbin can't messed up, especially live. Like I can feel when it's on stage he is actually more strong. I still remember how ppl was saying the offbeat thing abt the kngdom's intro with Miroh too, after this in 3racha live he basically said to everyone ,,I did never messed up, i did everything on purpose" then got up and did the rap live to prove it
@@mija431 I think he mainly didn’t sound like way recording was that’s why he didn’t get into show me the money don’t really think he messed up, he just think didn’t sound just like the audio version of song he was rapping during the show . Cuz show me the money you have sound just like studio version of the song. And we all know he has all flow and good skills as rapper just watch Kingdom for that and live comebacks for no easy or etc.
Well... Offbeat rap is Skz most unique talents... On first listen it might be sound awkward... But the more you heard it... It actually fits so well... Changbin always get criticise for rapping offbeat... But people don't know that it is his style of rapping... And also the same case for Han
I may be mistaken but I think Changbin already did a flow similar to a quintuplet in the second verse of his opening rap for thunderous. A lot of people just classify it as speak-rap in a pansori style but it is definitely on beat. It wouldn't surprise me if he did it again just to experiment.
@@m20D I'm not really that musically educated either but a few summers of jazz drums might have offered something after all. There is also a channel called reacttothek where classical music majors break down the song, you can go watch that for reference if you're interested.
@@gracesu7004 that's something! Definitely more than your average kpop enjoyer (me). I'm subbed to classical musicians react, they're great. It's funny I ended up learning a (tiny) bit about music theory through kpop because of their channel. I love it that this channel went a bit into that lane with these breakdowns
I really think it's intentional bc once you get the hang of it the rhythm you would "expect" seems too boring for changbin lol I honestly think he thinks his raps through too much to make *such* a cool-sounding mistake
Actually, I’ve noticed that changbin has had off beat mistakes before, but they are sooo small that most of ppl don’t notice,,,, but I’m pretty sure that this is on purpose, we still need an official version to confirm,,, bc HES FUCKING CRAZY
The dramatic camera switch to say "QUINTUPLET" 😂 Now I'm just shocked. I didn't think there was anything too out of the ordinary in that performance. My ears are too stupid for this. Sure the last part sounds weird, but I didn't think anything of it. I think...both options are possible. I have no idea. I do hope we get an official release because now I'm curious. Edit: bruh I'm ashamed I ever doubted 😂 I really am too stupid to understand Changbin's genius. The way I want to give the critics the benefit of the doubt - bc yeah Changbin IS human, he's not perfect, mistakes happen... but this one performance. When you watch it he looks 100% sure and confident of what he's doing
Well I think it kinda could depend on the lyrics cause it sounds like on purpose. Maybe he wanted to stress the line cause it was straight after the "beeeeeb" but sadly I can't understand korean well enough and especially not at that pace. Or he messed up and fixed it in a really cool way. Chan reacted to the performance in his live but you can't see him flinching or anything about it he just kept vibing but that still doesn't mean anything. So I guess we have to wait for an official version or we will never know
He did the same thing in Side Effects. He was rapping in 3s but the beat was in 2s BUT the beat eventually went into 3s. It's like him purposely rushing and the beat having to catch up to him.
He honestly might have in that "talking" part, I never really looked into it because I always thought of it as talking in my head, rather than rapping... Hmmmmm I should look at that.
yah someone did.. they even demonstrated it through drumming the beat..So we can say that it was intentional? hahahah.. but one thing I know about changbin is that he will say whether he isn't satisfied or share it was intentional, same thing with the Kingdom Miroh.
First hearing it i thought he's offbeat, coz i saw his eyes twitchin a lil--one of a sign of anxiety or over-excitement as i know--coz we know he's SO FIERY that nite hha. But the more i listen to it, it comes more naturally--and probably too coz the live sound was lil sucker than the recording one (or maybe it's just my wi-fi bad ha!). Also, he'd ever said in vlive bout his live rap in kingdom's miroh which was faster than the recording was intentional coz he wanted audience to know that he (they skz) don't do a lipsync! So yeah, in my defense it's intentional. But #changbingenius is a sure thing, at least his parents and jype and stay approved. lol.
I don't think they're going to release a official version cause it's propably just a extended ver for MAMA, there's a time he rap faster than the beat before and he knows what he's doing so i think it's intentionally
It's surely the 2nd option....he is a music genious...if smn happen to think it's offbeat well be certain that it was intentional.....either to show ppl that they sing live or how fast he can go.🤗

I still remember how ppl was saying the offbeat thing abt the kngdom's intro with Miroh too, after this in 3racha live he basically said to everyone ,,I did never messed up, i did everything on purpose" then got up and did the rap live to prove it
Wait what I need to see that boy he hates when people mess up with his art in any way
He messed up on smtm
@@mija431 I think he mainly didn’t sound like way recording was that’s why he didn’t get into show me the money don’t really think he messed up, he just think didn’t sound just like the audio version of song he was rapping during the show . Cuz show me the money you have sound just like studio version of the song. And we all know he has all flow and good skills as rapper just watch Kingdom for that and live comebacks for no easy or etc.
@@blinkz191 smtm have to sound like the studio ver? Do you even watch smtm?
@@mija431 yes I have .
chan watched your video!! he talked about this on his last live!
I have good news!! I think. Chan knows about you (from his last vlive)
Chan clarified in his vlive today that it was intentional not off beat!
Oh if that's true, it explains why it felt familiar. To my uneducated ears it really sounds like he "breaks" the flow and goes into speech mode 🤔
I love it that this channel went a bit into that lane with these breakdowns
this is my thought too like a pansori style rap inspired by his thunderous verse but this time its much faster.
yeaahhh.... i think we need carkpop and reacttothek analysis collaboration to this, nah?
FOR THE HATE YOU MUST KNOW THAT HE WILL NEVER FAIL!!!
i think that he is a genius
I really think it's intentional bc once you get the hang of it the rhythm you would "expect" seems too boring for changbin lol
I honestly think he thinks his raps through too much to make *such* a cool-sounding mistake
“Kinda crack that he would do that.” That’s Stray Kids for you lmao.
Thank you! The brain is now mildly scrambled… but I guess I came here for that.
haha, waiting for him to come live to address this :D but cool video :D
Actually, I’ve noticed that changbin has had off beat mistakes before, but they are sooo small that most of ppl don’t notice,,,, but I’m pretty sure that this is on purpose, we still need an official version to confirm,,, bc HES FUCKING CRAZY
decibel yuji! dda da dda da dda da OGHH!!
I was lowkey waiting for this
The dramatic camera switch to say "QUINTUPLET" 😂
Now I'm just shocked.
I don't think that's the same thing as this... haha a very interesting technique, but different technique and flow.
@@carkpop yeah this one feels more drastic. Going from triplets to quintuplets is big jump but somehow he makes it work lmao
Changbin has really strong unique flows
Hey monster is really good , 👍🏻
I think someone from reacttothek mention he rapped quintuplets in thunderous
But #changbingenius is a sure thing, at least his parents and jype and stay approved. lol.
dude i love u for this breakdown
new subscriber💖
Anyways only a king can pull this off.
apparently chan watching your video...
If we know Changbin, he did it on purpose
I don't think they're going to release a official version cause it's propably just a extended ver for MAMA, there's a time he rap faster than the beat before and he knows what he's doing so i think it's intentionally
It's surely the 2nd option....he is a music genious...if smn happen to think it's offbeat well be certain that it was intentional.....either to show ppl that they sing live or how fast he can go.🤗
