Der Playback Mist im Fernsehgarten stört mich auch. Ich warte nur auf den Moment wo mal eine Band eindeutig zeigt, dass es Playback ist, nur um sich von dem Mist zu distanzieren.
Love the band, hate German broadcast performances since it is all 100% playback of the song with the band just "performing" it. You can hear the layering of the vocals on the album as Clem is singing, the drums have no mics mounted, and half the time when Christian does a slide, you don't hear it at all.
I guess sometimes you have to sacrifice a little bit in return for a exposure, especially when it comes to German mainstream media who generally completelty ignore everything metal. It's a shame because they don't need it, but it's nothing they need to be ashamed of.
I'm amazed at the success of the band Visions of Atlantis with the age group of people... and I'm not even surprised, when I bought the latest album Pirates, I keep playing it.
It was amazing seen them live (my 1st time) a few weeks ago in Weinheim, Germany, after that night, they became my #1 favorite band :D Hope to see them live many more times

И в любом случае, живое исполнение есть с того же Вейкена и многих других шоу, так что сомневаться в способностях группы это сыграть и исполнить явно не стоит. ;)

I'm so used to seeing them in live on youtube that this time in playback it's really weird. I don't understand why the TV show forces the artists to do playback when they are 100 times better in live?. I presume it's a lot of work for them you know to have sound ingenior, material and probably to evoid any problem. It's easier and safer to put a playback for the tv show :-(

They were clearly forced to mime this performance (looks like it's for broadcast, and btw terribly mixed) however they do perform live usually and they sound great live. Bands are often forced to do this for broadcast stuff. There are examples of artists protesting this, such as the banana protest by the mamas and the papas on the ed sullivan show.
Yes, VoA performed in a German TV show called "ZDF Fernsehgarten". Unfortunately they were forced to perform with playback. So you can hear the normal album version of the song.
Sorry... but it just doesn't sound that studio perfect, especially after all that jumping. 3:05-3:15 is exactly identical to the studio version, meaning we're listening to a playback. Anyone who's ever seen any band live, even amazing performers, knows that even if they sound better than the studio, they still don't 100% replicate every detail from the studio version, especially not after jumping around like that. Too bad, they're absolutely great live, so I don't know why they would do this. Or maybe the uploader did it, who knows. I just wanted to hear them do this song :/ EDIT: 3:28 - 3:32 part is also completely identical, EVEN during jumping. Come on, just why fuck with the audio, whoever it was?
These are the rules of the ZDF Fernsehgarten... Every artist who performs there must do it on playback. Of course, VoA have the potential to do it live, but that's the way it is...
@@VoASailors That's too bad :( it's basically not allowing the band to actually flourish because they're so insecure about the artists playing wrong or badly that they don't even give the band a chance to show what they're truly made of, just because they want it to sound good. That's the feeling I get everytime an event or place has a rule like that.

Love the band, hate German broadcast performances since it is all 100% playback of the song with the band just "performing" it.
