Great reaction! Sheer Heart Attack is a parody punk song. It is Queen making fun of punk. Queen doesn't allow their videos to be blocked. You will see there are loads of Queen reactions on youtube, even Queen's Live Aid reaction is not blocked. Queen has a catalogue of 200 songs so there is a lot to discover. You should try some early Queen. White Queen or Liar live at the Rainbow 1974.
I have been a fan for a long time and actually have 2 of their albums on vinyl. It’s just going to be hard to find songs from them I haven’t heard already.

The mic stick was Freddie's signature prop. The first photo of him with it (that I've seen) is from 1972. The story goes that the bottom half detached or broke off onstage and Freddie kept performing with the upper half and decided to keep using it that way. Reportedly, this occurred during a Wreckage or Ibex performance. (?)

I’ve loved Queen and Freddie since their beginning, but there are over 200 songs they did on all those albums, and I have been listening to songs I’ve never heard also, so many that never made the charts or didn’t make them in the US, but many wonderful songs I found I just LOVE. Have you ever heard Cool Cat, the Seven Seas of Rhye, or his songs/album with Montserrat Caballe’. (He was annoyed during this concert in Montreal due to all the cameras and the way they shot it for commercial reasons. All the songs were sung faster than usual. Check out the fast version of We Are The Champions at this concert.)

Freddie Mercury would act very suggestive sexually onstage because he was rebellious and wanted to 'tease' his sexuality without admitting that he was gay... Rob Halford of Judas Priest was the same way in the 80's - he expressed his sexuality onstage without admitting it publicly.
People know that Freddie was born Farrokh Bulsara in Zanzibar (which is now Tanzania in Africa) and he was ethnically Indian w/ parents from Gujarat, India... What most didn't (or don't) realize is that both areas were extremely conservative and intolerant towards gay people... Tanzania is still anti-gay by law and they refuse to honor Freddie Mercury, even as famous as he is... India will still not even acknowledge that he was from the country.
He was embraced as a British national, but even in his lifetime, he was not free to pursue the lifestyle until he moved to ultra-liberal (West) Germany where he indulged in the gay scene in Munich from 1979 to 1985 (Queen were also tax exiles there to avoid paying steep British income taxes... Led Zeppelin also did the same)
During Freddie's lifetime, gays in England were often subject to violence and death... so even there, Freddie kept it quiet. There were Queen fans who loved Freddie but were anti-gay... quite the conflicting reality. Many still go by "Don't ask, don't tell" when it comes to the LGBTQ community outside of the US and progressive nations, because if they speak openly... they could be targeted for death to this day.
There was a scene in the 'Bohemian rhapsody' movie where he (Rami Malek as Freddie Mercury) brought his boyfriend to meet his parents and he hugged his mom and she called him "bey-ta" (Hindi word for "adult son") and I recall Indian people in the audience going, "What? Bey-ta? What? Why?" ... and I'm pretty certain that they had no idea that Freddie Mercury and his family were Indian.
The other thing was that Freddie came from a conservative Parsi family that practiced the Zoroastrian faith... Indian people have this nature of hiding things that are not acceptable to the public... Freddie was of that nature. The members of Queen never asked him if he was gay but they suspected as much because of his mannerisms... They were shocked when he fell in love w/ Mary Austin and they moved in and got engaged. One of the things Freddie and Mary shared was love of fashion - she worked in a fashion boutique and she dressed Freddie in Queen's early days... Freddie started performing w/ half a mic stand after he got frustrated one night and pulled the stand apart. He was much more comfortable that way and it became his image in concert when he strutted around the stage w/ half a mic stand.
From what I read, Mary Austin said she started to suspect that Freddie was gay when she was planning their wedding and he kept postponing it for Queen tours... Finally, she confronted him and he admitted that he was unfaithful... but w/ men - he thought he was bisexual but Mary was certain that he was gay... They stayed close friends even after they broke up and that friendship w/ Mary was a point of contention between Freddie and his various boyfriends... She revealed that she suggested to Freddie that they have children together but he wasn't receptive to that idea... Mary eventually had 2 children w/ another boyfriend.
However, Freddie Mercury never disclosed his sexuality to the press or even the band... he just wasn't open to talking about it like most people in his Indian background... The Indian mentality is so different from the American mentality (which is so open)
When he was diagnosed w/ AIDS in 1987, he barely admitted it to the members of Queen and demanded that it would not be brought up again... Mary recalled being devastated when only she and a few people in the Queen camp found out. They closed ranks and respected his wishes... Freddie denied it until the last moments of his life, finally admitting that he had AIDS just before he passed away.
From what I recall as a kid, Freddie Mercury's death was not even announced by media in the Indian subcontinent.
You are wrong on a couple points. He was a Zoroastrian Parsi his lineage was Persian not Indian, which he often referred to himself. His parents were born in Bombay as it was then. He was born in Zanzibar because his dad worked for the Colonial office there, but had a British passport from birth. He naturalised himself as a full British citizen in 1969. He did come out to the band in a roundabout way.
@@jodawson5268 First, I don't need a non-Indian telling me (an ethno-Indian) who does and does not count as Indian.
Parsi people are Indian - they migrated there from Persia... There are folks from Iraq and Iran who settled in the subcontinent, but their descendants are Indian of Persian heritage is all... Bengali Muslims in the subcontinent are descended from Turks but no one calls them Turkish.
Many Indians on the East side were from China and they look oriental... but they are Indians and they claim as such.
Second, I already iterated that Freddie was a British citizen - he was born under the British empire and his dad worked for the British government... My dad was too, but he was never given British citizenship because he didn't work for the colonists in India. Freddie was born to an Indian family of Indian ethnicity, regardless.
Third, I did say that the members of Queen suspected that he was gay by his mannerisms but it wasn't a topic or an issue that he liked to address.
@sumonjamal1653 As I said he referred to himself as Persian, " I'll always be a Persian popinjay and no one is gonna stop me honey" is the exact quote and as he was usually honest I will take his word for it, if you don't mind.

Furthermore, Persia has not existed for centuries... and Freddie is a Parsi Indian (which is an Indian of Persian descent) Not Iranian or Iraqi or Afghani... which r the countries formed from the remnants of Persia. Freddie did not identify himself w/ any of those 3 ethnicities.
So, unless u can make Persia exist more recently, your insinuations are thoroughly debunked, thank u very much! 😁
@sumonjamal1653 look I'm not going to argue with you but in the UK I have heard non Muslim or Zoroastrian Iranians refer to themselves as Persian. What ever we say they know what they are.

@@CharisSellick yeah. except thats not why they are named Queen. The double entendre is not the only part of the name. Freddie wanted it to bring majesty. They're a UK band, the monarch was a Queen for 75 fricking years. 3/4 of the Band are allies to LGBTQ+ but not members of it. One, prominent member was.

@@CharisSellick oh child, first rule of the internet is do not assume some ones emotions. Some of us who are queer (hi) lived through the 70s 80s and 90s with Queen. Freddie was never out, and he valued privacy. Just stop while you are ahead eh? It is ok to be wrong. It is ok to put our own feelings into something, but it does not make it so.
My guess is you haven't listened to any of their albums,they weren't a pop group they were always at their heart a rock group right up to their last album.
If you source your reactions from the queen official channel,they very rarely copyright their own videos
