Want to live in America?I've been there for 35 years, it's not a land of milk & honey! - Dr. Karogi

Hi Monica, my name is Joyce Sairo a great friend of Dr Joe Karogi from Houston Texas I'm watching this great episode. He's a great leader. He has helped so many including my immediate family. He helped save the life of my nephew who was born with a congenital heart disease. By the way I love watching the stories you bring on your channel. Kudos mami for a job well done!

America is a land with so many opportunities for growth in many ways. There’s no place in the world that has transformed lives than America, work hard , go to school, set your priorities right and you will be okay. Suffering in the beginning is part of adjustment as you transition from one culture and way of life to a different one but in the end life becomes much much affordable and less stressful
Thank you. Honestly those people who are determined to go there and work hard their lives don't remain the same. Just be wise enough to invest back in kenya ndio even after u no longer want to be in the usa u have something to cater for your bills. Tena ni wapi kuzuri kiasi cha kupata maisha mazuri without struggle? My fellow Kenyans, lets avoid the naivety that life in Kenya is the best. We are struggling so hard na bado we have nothing to show for it, hata hatujui watoto watasoma aje na life yao itakua aje yet we are so hard working even back in kenya
Precisely @ Cecilia Kuria....going to school is key...work the odd jobs while going to school and you’ll be able to look ahead and say - “tis just for this long” - motivation to high heavens....

Dr. Karogi, I salute you! You are a hero. I can confirm Dr.Karogi and KCFA is very big here in the US.
This channel happens to be a source of great insight everyday. Dr. Karogi has added some wisdom on me today. I'm also proud to having been part of Ngegu Primary School. On Friday immediately after I arrived from work, my sister was like (She is in Grade 7)...."Wanjiru leo nimeona Monica Kagoni na Martin wa AMG kwa shule".....Nilikuwa...."Are you sure".....I thought she didn't know what she was talking about..... He is saying the truth,,I've been in US 5 years, and I used to think it's nyweee and 💰Money lives here,,weee ukifika huku unapatwa na shock ,,People r busy, weather is terrible, you can't stay in the house ndee,,otherwise rent unaitishwa.ukifika tu unaanza kujisort, ukaoshe tùcùcù,ama ukauze 711,ukiangalia mshara, hujui ni rent, ama food ama gari,,It takes time to establish,,and most people hukosana na your hosts, they can only help you kidogo..ukiwa na pesa kaa Kenya..otherwise if you're a Nurse, teacher, and mostly with proper papers it's not that bad,, it's good,
I can do hizo jobs hazitaki papers, connection ndio hakuna
And why people die go there..
Hata huku tuko na bills to be paid na hatuna kazi.its tougher back here
The difference between this land and Kenya is simple.... in Kenya you can work even harder and you sleep hungry yet , in this country you can be non employed and afford food like any other person i . Every aspect has a start off but why would you work for a minimum wage over and over if you got papers, go to school to advance to professional level. These people who discourage others to come to USA I bet they do it while they already turned back home .

Thank you Dr Karogi, many Kenyans need to hear this especially those who are doing so well in Kenya and still want to sell everything and seek greener pastures. Many get depressed and feel ashamed to return to Kenya. If you were struggling in Kenya and you go hassle abroad different story same story so not a big loss. But I have met CEOs, Headteachers, Bank managers with masters from Kenya and now working as cleaners or care work (nothing wrong with the job don't get me wrong). While making money their esteem is crashed and really regret leaving Kenya but those who left don't understand and await money.
Mary Njoki, I told my rich cousin in Kenya not to make that mistake. He has been mislead by his friends, even his bro in the US to sell everything and seek the so called greener pastures. He told me am the only one who has said if you are doing well in Kenya, don`t make that mistake of coming over.
This is one of my best shows of Metha ya Kagoni. The simplicity and honesty comes across and is so inspiring. Simply put, Kenyans in diaspora and those back home, we achieve our goals with ease when we share our knowledge without malice, jealousy, or any other evil thoughts. My brother's or sister's success, whether at home or in diaspora, is a chance for someone else to get inspiration and share in the knowledge. Kudos👍👍

Headlines are key to determining if one is interested in a particular presentation. Many times I was disappointed when I am invited to a discussion through interesting headlines in English, only to find that discussions are in a vernacular language.
Nothing wrong with presenting a discussion in the language of one’s choice-except that English headings would be misleading to those who cannot follow a vernacular presentation.
Please have headlines in the same vernacular language you conduct your presentation. It saves the time of those who do not understand the tribal language.

Yes. Thank you. Lord life can be so depressing if you have no one kind to help you. People might see you on Facebook dressed up at a party not knowing that might be the only fun you have had in years. Help when you can. When you see a Kenyan looking sad at a bus stop say hello and give them your phone number should they need help. Shaming people for not becoming instant millionares in America makes them withdraw more. Be kind to each other.
I wish I could hug you, you've said it all. Many people withdraw and get depressed abroad when they feel they haven't made it like their fellow Kenyans there.
Agree with you it’s not a bed of roses 🌹
Thank you Dr. Karogi for sharing this. It will enlightens to some extent. However, only those who live in America understand the reality of living in this foreign country. Many want to come over but do not understand what awaits them. Anyway, its a land of opportunities to hustle 💯.

If you are making less than £2000-3000 a month in USA, you are struggling. Unless you are hosted or cost sharing expenses. The most expensive thing in America is healthcare.
We don't use £. We use $.
If you do get sick and are hospitalized please ask for someone in the charity department of any hospital to help. They will cancel your bill. Do not be afraid to seek charity. Hospital bill are astronomically surreal.
I find housing more expensive bcoz healthcare there is insurance.

You can still be successful there are a lot of successful diasporans but that part does not get covered much. You have to come and work hard especially in your early years. When you are done with college make sure to connect with your peers and professors and if they can write reference letters for you even better. Make sure to professionally connect with those who have been in your field for long and can be your mentors or coaches. If you are young and you get a chance to go to America take it. There are a lot of opportunities.
You can say that again @ Essy Kimz....I have noted that lately this Kenyan RUclips showbiz seem to be obsessed with highlighting negative narratives on Diaspora living.....it’s a pity cause this the same with western media which would rather cover poverty in Africa, posturing hungry malnourished children with flies all over their faces.... BUT not show an average professional family setting off to work - Mom and Dad with their 3 children donning school uniforms setting out from their fairly decent Home, hopping into their fairly decent Family Car, dropping the kids in a fairly decent school while they proceed to their offices... it’s annoying....
@@peacebestill1485 Yes there are many successful diasporans as much as there are those who are struggling. There are a lot of Ivy League educated diasporans who work in some of the biggest Fortune 500 companies They are in all industries and fields but most people like only to highlight mostly the struggling side. There are people who only work 9-5 jobs and they make 6 figure salaries and live very comfortable lifestyles. When you go to America like any country one has to work hard for your dreams. Go to school that is key. There are also a lot of successful entrepreneurs as well. Not everyone is struggling. It depends with the people you meet and what goals you set for yourself. America is the melting pot for everything and there are a lot of opportunities.
America is about discipline. When it is time to work go work. When its time for family its time with family. When its time to sleep sleep. Strict time management. Think of the future and work towards it. Its a land with opportunities.
