- Experiencing Batanes doesn’t have to break the bank. In this video, I will share with you my experience on the Islands of Batanes.
Airfares going to Basco aren’t cheap but airlines randomly offer promo fares and Philippine Airlines can offer as low as P820 base fare (before taxes & fees). I got a ticket going for only P1631 and a ticket coming back for P1731. My tip is to download the app of Philippine Airlines or visit their website often. There are some promo fares unannounced so it is best to keep checking their website 😂
Cebu Pacific and Skyjet Airlines also fly to Basco from Manila. You can also download Cebu Pac’s app or visit their website. Skyjet, on the other hand, has no app yet to it is best to visit their website and book it directly with them as recommended by the airline.
Booking through travel agencies is fine but they, of course, mean business so your airfare and tours could be more expensive. You can arrange your travel plans or itinerary yourself.
Batanes is fleeting with hometels or homestays. There are no big hotels yet but I really recommend Baletin Hometel because they were very nice to give me a room for P1200 per night which is supposedly P3000, and it comes with free breakfast. They also offer pick up and drop off at the airport. You may message or call them at +63 907 389 7122 or visit their Facebook page / baletinhometelbatanes for your booking. I don’t recommend booking thru agoda or any travel agency as they charge more. Book it directly with the hometel.
The hometel can also arrange your tour; however, I did not do it because it was a little pricey, especially that I was traveling solo. It will cost you P6500 but that includes North and South Sabtang Island tours. I then did it myself (DIY) and found kuya June ( / rodolfo.payawal.7 ) who only charged me P2500 for my North and South Batan Island tours. I got to own the whole cogon ride experience and really took my time enjoying every spot. You can message or call Kuya June at 09217625134 when you arrive in Batanes. He can take pictures of you if you are also traveling alone 😀 I will definitely call him again when I come back in July.

North Batan Tour - P1000
South Batan Tour - P1500
Eco Tourism Fee - P350
Registration Fee - P50
Entrance Fee (South Batan) - P50
Total : P8712

would it be best to get a tour package from an agency or just book a flight on your own and arrange accomodations and everything on your own?
plus I'm having a hard time catching a seat that's on sale with PAL ( i only prefer PAL, no other airline) aby suggestions and tips on how you got your super cheap ticket. for that 3k plus airfare, was that 2 way? and is it just the base fare?
