    In MacBook models A2442 and A2485, the two ICs that need to be transferred from one LCD panel to another are typically related to the display's functionality. These ICs are commonly known as the EEPROM (Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory) chips or the EDID (Extended Display Identification Data) chips.
    The main functions of these ICs include:
    Storing Display Data: The EEPROM chips store crucial display data, such as resolution settings, color profiles, and other parameters specific to the LCD panel. This data is essential for the MacBook's operating system to recognize and properly communicate with the display.
    Display Identification: The EDID chips contain information about the display's manufacturer, model, supported resolutions, refresh rates, and other capabilities. This information is transmitted to the MacBook's graphics controller during the initialization process to ensure proper display configuration.
    Transferring these ICs from the old LCD panel to the new one ensures that the replacement display behaves identically to the original one and maintains compatibility with the MacBook's hardware and software. If these ICs are not transferred or are damaged during the replacement process, it can lead to display issues such as incorrect resolution, color distortion, or even failure to display an image altogether.
    Flex Cable Damage: The flex cables that connect the LCD panel, Backlight and cameras to the MacBook's logic board are delicate and can be easily damaged during disassembly or reassembly. Careful handling and proper routing of these cables are necessary to avoid tears or bends that could result in display issues.
    Adhesive Residue: Some MacBook models use adhesive to secure the LCD panel to the display assembly. Removing the old panel may leave behind adhesive residue that needs to be cleaned thoroughly before installing the new panel. Residue left uncleared can affect the fit and appearance of the new panel.
    Alignment and Fitment: Proper alignment and fitment of the replacement LCD panel within the display assembly are critical for ensuring a seamless and professional-looking repair. Misalignment or improper fitment can lead to uneven gaps, display misalignment, or issues with closing the MacBook's lid.
    Static Electricity Damage: Components inside the MacBook, including the LCD panel and its connectors, are sensitive to static electricity. Proper anti-static precautions, such as using grounded wrist straps and work surfaces, are essential to prevent damage to sensitive electronics during the replacement process.
    Compatibility Issues: In some cases, replacement LCD panels sourced from third-party suppliers may not be fully compatible with the MacBook's hardware or software. This can result in compatibility issues, such as incompatible resolutions, refresh rates, or lack of support for certain features. This is critical to ensure that you are sourcing a compatible display that not only will work with the MacBook, but also with the IC transfer.

    Dear Maker of this video,
    this was one of the most incredibly nice done tutorial to change a MacBook's LCD. I Stille have some Questions: Why do you need to swap the old ICs to the new Display and would it be necessary for a A2141 MacBook too? Would T7000 glue be also an option and what are the advantages of shock resistant tape?

    • @FIXDPHONES
      @FIXDPHONES  2 месяца назад +1

      Great questions. The ic’s are important on a few on the models but not all. The video description talks more about that. As long as the glue isn’t to viscus then it can be used. Just got to be careful with the backlight. I definitely prefer the tape as it’s accurate and not messy with no cleanup etc.

      @@FIXDPHONESThank you so much for your answer. Does A2141 MacBook's have also a Chip with its ID? And where are you sourcing your panels from? Could it be suitable to contact LG Display or Japan Display to ask for a panel (if they would care) or could it be smart to transfer the panel of a Grade C display assembly to the damaged?

      Yes, it’s the same as OEM which is what allows for the ic’s to be transferred.

    Hey guys! So I cracked my macbook pro M1 pro 16 " display and now Im looking for the cheapest way to replace it. Im thinking into buying the lcd (without frame) from Aliexpress for 350 AUD, and then doing a IC swap with the chips from the original screen(150 AUD). I know a guy how does micro soldering and would be able to do a nice job, Im just afraid the aliexpress LCD will not be compatible with the IC from the original screen. Does anyone knows if that would work or have any suggestion? Thank youuu xxx

    What dimensions of adhesive did you use around the perimeter of the display? Or did that come already attached to the replacement display you used?

    How long does this repair usually take, when everything goes right?
    I have yet to repair one of these because the business that I work for doesn't want to offer the repair, due to the potential for damaging these expensive LCDs while trying to remove and transfer the chips, plus the amount of time that it takes to do the repair...yet they also really want to offer the repair.

    • @MrPnew1
      @MrPnew1 4 месяца назад +1

      16” do not suffer from artifacts only 14” A2442. The 13” M2 Air will not sleep on lid closing with either a panel or full assembly replacement. Therefore 14” A2442 is the only one that gets artifacts if you do not change the two IC’s on the control board.
