Take me back to happy days! I loved Supercar and Fireball - can just remember Four Feather Falls, but had grown up by the time Joe 90 arrived so never watched him. Corgi did a lovely die cast toy 'Supercar' and Kitmaster made a plastic kit of Fireball, which you had to save coupons from a particular brand of iced lolly to obtain. It was quite a good model, too, with a detatchable nose / cockpit which contained two tiny figures - Mike Mercury and, I think, the robot. Foreshadowed the Lunar landing Modules!
What a crazy story! Only Gerry Anderson could both tell stories of exciting adventures...AND be a part of one as well! Can't wait to hear some more #FABFACTS!
Gerry Anderson did talk about the incident on both the DVD Commentary of Supercar, and the FILMED IN SUPERMARIONATION Documentary, and this is probably why they switched to the Rolling Sky technique from STINGRAY onwards! #FABFACTS
I remember that year they had the Thunderbirds outlines in the Maze maze - My dad fell off one of the viewing platforms in the middle and broke both his hips
Your poor dad, crikey... That's awful. I hope he recovered okay. Is the Maze maze by chance the one at Leeds Castle? I tried Googling "Maze maze" but I couldn't find anything concrete.
I am _surprised_ that airplane Gerry flew on was NOT carrying some form of bottled oxygen, considering the pilot[s] must have known they would be flying at that altitude.
Nice to hear about the blue-sky thinking that they did back then...but you would at least make sure that everyone would be able to breathe easily up there.

Fantastic, they did use backdrop projection in Supercar, same for Fireball XL5 and Stingray when the characters are in a vehicle
I watched all of these shows as a kid in the 60's, Fireball XL5, Supercar , and The Thunder birds. 😁

Super car was my most favorite shows when I was but a wee boy! 60 + years ago.
To be fair, they might have shot in Portugal because the weather was less prone to change unexpectedly, making it easier to match shots.
Mistakes were made. But A+ for effort. #NeedToKnowBasis #TheyNeededToKnow That was great nice work.

another interesting fact aboult the footage for the back projection was it was also filmed in colour, despite supercar being made in B/W.
They've just made new breakthroughs in Fusion. Supercar could be in our future! 😊🍿
that supercar would be enormous built around the JET powerplant, how far can it fly in 5 seconds ?
@@jyvben1520 not what is possible now but in the future. How far will they progress in 30 yrs?
I loved Supercar - what a great story.
Fantastic stuff!
Agreed 😎🙃
So.... Odd question from my other half wants to know how the other lung was lost?
That's amazing. 😁
Great story. I just heard last month about Earth's second known Trojan asteroid designated 2020 XL5. Who knew it was out there all along?
Could this have been an unconcious inspiration for Thunderbirds!? Trapped in the Sky infact. XD

😎awesome
