- MK founder Jabulani Khumalo maintains that he is the registered party leader of Umkhonto Wesizwe. He was speaking to the media on the sidelines of the official opening of the IEC's Results Operations Centre. Khumalo, who was expelled from Umkhonto we Sizwe recently, has approached the courts to have the IEC's registration of former President Jacob Zuma declared invalid, unlawful and set aside. Earlier this month, the IEC in a statement, confirmed that the party leader was Zuma and said it does not involve itself in the internal affairs of political parties.

2. He also accused Khumalo of working to undermine the MK party - which has been rocked by allegations of fraud in the process of collecting signatures to have it placed on the ballot - from within on the ANC’s behalf.
3. Khumalo requested the “immediate removal” of Zuma “as the face of the MKP and president of MKP”.
He accused Zuma of hijacking the party and of fraudulently having him removed from the party’s electoral list.
4. Khumalo said he had registered the party with Zuma’s “political advice and guidance” and that the former president had told him its name should be “aligned with the ANC”, whose brand was “entrenched within the public and the population”.

Zuma knew a long time ago that he is not eligible to be in parliament. So he used court cases to get the attention of the media. MK party was formed by Zuma and he is the owner of that party.
