Practice with your stamps on a piece of scrap. Adjust the height you strike from according to the surface area of the character, e.g. less for an "I" than for an "M". This will give all letters similar depth and darkness.

Stamps can be adjusted by filing the right and/or left edges to give proper kerning. Try for a constant distance from the edge of the character to the edge of the stamp. Your lettering will look much more pleasing and professional.

I’ve stamped on metal before. What makes your stamps different from metal stamps used to stamp metal? I already have those. Or can I use your stamps on copper and brass and nickel? Why do you have to wet the leather first before stamping?

I would not recommend using these stamps on metal, as they were designed for leather. The surface of these letters is flat, while stamps made for metal are typically more pointed, allowing for easier stamping on metal.
Wetting the leather slightly before stamping makes it softer, more flexible, and more moldable. The resulting stamp will appear darker, have cleaner lines along the edges, and penetrate deeper into the leather piece.
