I played it for around a month when it launched. Calling it p2w is fairly accurate. You don't "need" the rolled characters, but your progress is going to be 1000x slower if you don't pay up. And it's always going to be an uphill battle, since more characters are constantly released. You're genuinely better off just not bothering and playing a different game. The waifu pictures, of varying degrees of spiciness, are just a quick net search away, for free.

Am I a weirdo for liking puzzles. I actually liked the sudoku-esque puzzles in Inazuma. Also, I really enjoy both the story and lore, unironically. It's a bit of a slow start and Inazuma's main story feels a little rushed, but yeah.
@@far4955 Yeah. I think too many people were like 'the puzzles are too hard' so they changed them. There's still some good'ns, but generally they were a little too easy. That being said I understand that Genshin appeals to a larger demographic than puzzle lovers, and making them easier makes sense.

But there is a plot, it's always been present, in Mondstadt, in Liyue, in Inazuma, and in Sumeru, the Fatui was always scheming, The Abyss Order is also but that's more related to the Traveler and their Sibling. It's just the most recent Sumeru section of the Main story got a really big step up writing wise... Besides this game has like 0 fanservice unless you're actively trying to look for it, the Fanservice is quite tame and it's amount is quite small in my eyes

Even in the actual STORY there is a lot of moments where fanservice was present, not to mention other quests and characters themselves.
Here’s the thing, Mihoyo didn’t expect the game to be as popular as it got, so the first 2 regions stories don’t have as much effort in them, but they’re not bad. Inazuma was…rushed due to a certain event *cough*. But it’s fun in its own way. Sumeru though, that’s where everything ramps up to maximum intensity.

As a fictional theorist and a story writer, the plot is actually the main reason that I play the game. It’s massive, deep, amazing, complex, interesting and intriguing. Not as much as Elder Scrolls, Murder Drones, or any soulsborne game ever, but still amazing. However… the hentai is an added benefit. (The age of consent is 18 years old)
Main problem with the game is the community tbh. As for the game itself, people are pretty bias against it because they can't control their gambling urges and blame the game on their poor financial decisions. Story is pretty good (although it's pretty huge so it's not really something you can explain in 1 min) and the game is pretty fun, just takes a bit of time since the first chapter is a snoozefest and you do need a little time to start being able to get more characters. It's in a very weird spot tho, there's not really a traditional end game so grinding is only really necessary for the story bosses. Also literally the only gacha game where you can literally do everything in the game and get most of the characters that you want without spending any money. No game is good if you never get through the tutorial and only listen to the negative feedback. It's a braindead mindset. Look at the people who hate elden ring for an example of that.
its pretty crazy how someone usually as based as nux who found the brilliance in the story of fucking eminence in shadow of all things cant find the obviously goated plot of genshin...i actually play for the story .the story is absolutely goated so far .....and i hope maybe one day nux stops being so one sided and actually tries going into it
IMO the story of genshin got pretty good and continues to get better after about the halfway point of Liyue ish. When we meet the Geo archon and beyond is when I think the plot genuinely gets pretty good. Before that, Mondstadt was really boring and uninteresting imo and Liyue was kinda the same. I'm just past the dream part of the Sumeru story though atm and im really enjoying it. Also just picked up Nahida and Kuki for a lovely hyperbloom team.

As a genshin player(who loves the lore and the wamen and the men honestly) who's been a fan of Nux for years now, I fucking love how so many genshin players don't seem to realize Nux is fucking with them. He pretty clearly knows there is a plot in the game that people like, if he didn't he wouldn't go out of the way to point out boobs specifically before it's addressed and take the time to disregard it.

Well, Max0r is right. That green baby (nahida) you see is the god of wisdom and she is one of the best archon because she gave you information about your siblings, drop a lore bomb, have the best story, meta in game, and many more :) soon she will have her 2nd story quest in 3.6 version.

If you want plot, you watch MoB’s playthroughs and streams. We’re the lorekeepers of the game, and it is our passion. There’s a very deep lore to everything, but the reason it’s hard to explain or understand is because it’s just mind-bending. Like, Kingdom Hearts mind-bending, or probably more so. I still believe it makes more sense than Kingdom Hearts, but there’s just SO MUCH more content than that game, that it’s harder to talk about. You can literally talk about it for a whole day. And yes, I’ve nearly 100% every region. I just have the latest area to complete.

What is up with people thinking people only play game for "plot". Alot of people play only for lore and stories and also world building. It has been great lately. I haven't pulled for a character in months and only play for story.
Listen I won't deny that most people play the game for the "plot" but the story is actually good (if you take the time to understand half of it cause you probably won't get all the lore that you need to seek out and you don't need to)
The reason I started playing Genshin was because I heard that there is a library of characters that you can see in different angles so I wanted to trace and learn how to draw anime characters. Then, I saw kaveh for the first time in an add (if you know you know) and fell in love. But I definitely stayed for the plot. It’s actually amazing 😂

I'm not really in deep into the community but honestly so far I've only see people play the game for the lore, the music, the exploration, and the combats (spiral abyss, grinding etc). ofc there are simps among them but I don't feel like that's biggest reason for them to play.

I havent got into it yet because I dont have alot of time, and every time I open genshin I got hooked with grinding for my chars. But inazuma is also very good. There are also alot of good Side quest that expands the lore, with vastly interesting explorations. The mystery the get solved are very interesting
I’m an enjoyer of both characters and lore, I actually shed tears in numerous occasions, such as Scaramouche’s story, Fontaine archon quest and the chasm quest. During the chasm quest cutscene i was literally in shambles because I thought they were gonna kill Xiao off right there and I was so relieved when his dad (zhongli) came to the rescue. Also as you can tell I am a very devoted Xiao enjoyer and i will forfeit my soul to him any day i swear to go
The reason most people don't play for the lore is simply cos the lore in the early game is confusing af until you watch some of the trailer, play the side quests and watch a lore breakdown video or two. After all that when you do play for the lore you have to wait two months for the next update to it and you forget all about it and start playing for the more available "lore". Though I personally think that the lore past the flaws is super interesting.

I think people should know that on what opinions they have whether be saying p2w, waifus, no exploration etc etc. You can't deny on why players are increasing in numbers, yeah, one reason it gets me is the improvement of story and exploration and the music. As someone who started genshin because of my ex gf. It is SHOCKINGLY good story once you get past the botw ripoff era. That being said it's so ironic that the sword boob lady is so sought after and I got her on accident and didnt want her and still don't....

technically genshin was also made for mobile, they just made it playable for pc and consoles and honkai is also playable for pc. "Honkai is better" probably refer to the story as it is indeed way better than genshin by a long mile, gameplay wise? Hell nah. Honkai's gameplay is just doing the same rotations over and over again but unlike genshin you can't be creative with teambuilding and character builds as it is already predetermined with their signatures. Anyone saying honkai's combat is better than genshin's are just people who likes button mash and braindead gameplay.

I would say Genshin fundamentally has better lore since it's based of, or in reference to, actual mythology, and religion, and has less of a pretentious fictional history than honkai's lore. Like Genshin has 5000 years of lore on genshin wiki, it's kinda insane and it's like a play on Greek mythology (3 moons, primordial ones, descender, etc) and the concept of demiurge, even satans, norse mythology, and other references. I mean, Elysian realm character and story is the best thing there is in honkai story, but the rest is not even worth mentioning. That's just how bad the overall story is for honkai, especially the shtty and weeb sci-fi like lore and cringy pseudo-philosophical lines of character attempting to sound smart only to make themselves sound dumber (kevin, dr mei, aphonia zoo analogy, einstein, etc). Genshin's definitely made for pc first. I mean, just look at the size of genshin, insanely massive. By the time we get to natlan it's probably gonna be over 120 GB on PC since Sumeru is freaking massive already. If you don't play honkai you can skip my rant here, as a lv 88 captain on agony 3, but: It's worth noting that honkai also has the messiest of writings, convoluted storytelling with a lot of skipped over information that gets explained 15+ chapters later or not at all, action first explanation later rule (like a typical mobile gacha story game where the story doesn't get respected early on and we have to pretend to know what's happening until chapter 20), terrible character and relationship introduction (maxed frienship, we don't know who these characters are), over repetitive use of anime power up after talk-no-jutsu like how kiana talked to her doppelganger HoV (the entire basis here is naruto, ninetail fox sirin, her parents, kiana's personality, naruto vs sasuke moment, etc) or when the final chapter was just us pressing W for 10 minutes listening to a long filler conversation while playing as kiana or mei into an anime powerup, getting a new form, from the help of nothing. the entire final arc on the moon, why they when to space testing a ship ride on the moon, project stigma happened off-screen at the perfect time, why there's a base on space with the serpent discarded members, why the moon is safe, why kiana's dad is on the moon when he got stabbed by that one herrscher and died on the spot, how and why mc went from one scene to another (sometimes they skipped the entire explanation as if they rushed through it), and so on. And yeah, $300 in honkai's about 40-50 pulls, in Genshin, that's 180 pulls (guarantee 2 5*). Getting 40-50 pulls per $300 while not counting the total pity for each rated up unit (240+ pulls, wep + chr banner), it clearly indicates that Honkai is a p2w game not even by Genshin's standard alone, it's somehow even more p2w than nikke. I mean, just look at how many unit went obsolete now that HoT, HoO, and HoF powercreep everybody. Imagine spending real money for aphonia, vill v, mobius, etc, and came to the realization that they just wasted actual time and money. they really need to make gacha cheaper when 99% of the characters get powercreep almost every 3 months.
@@Qopa Nah genshin WAS definitely made for mobile because mobile market is big especially in asia and everyone have phones so they wanted to make a game that caters to the general people rather than actual gamers (honkai was a bit too niche), it's the reason why genshin is a casual game with no endgame content and why they keep on trying to minimize it's own size by cutting early story chapters instead of saving them and made replay available while also having these varieties of events that is not based on combat. For the story, it is definitely better simply because it had the time to be better. If given the same amount of time i wholly believe that genshin can catch up to the quality of honkai's story and even be better as the base of genshin's world and teyvat in general is already great. As for your own personal opinion of the story i have to disagree. Just because something is not based on something else that you know doesn't mean that it is bad. Honkai just took a bunch of famous people's name, genderbent them and then use them as their own character without having any relations to the real ones, that's pretty much it. Plot being explained in details 15+ chapter after the initial info was given is usually being followed by tiny bits of hint along those 15+ chapter, this is simply called foreshadowing which can be good and bad (honkai has both tbh).I can say for sure that most stuff was foreshadowed in the early chapters (like how the real kiana was said to be on the moon implying that the moon is an actual accessible place). Also ending a conflict by talking does not equal to bad writing as you need to understand the context and execution of said conversations and events (HoV and HoD was pretty bad, HoS was decent, Otto, Durandal and the flame chasers were amazing). I do admit there are some parts that's just either bad, unnecessarily long and straight up fillers like how mei joined the jormmungandr and especially the arc before that with raven, and don't get me started with the first 8 chapters. But the recent chapters are doing a pretty good job at "retconning" information from the past. The moon ch was indeed full of explanations and made me feel like i wasn't playing a game and also made a lot of the stuff sounds more complicated than they actually are, but i'm fine with that. I do hate anime powerups but as long as they give me a justifiable reason then i am ok with it. As for the gacha, yeah it is bad lol. The worst thing is that honkai players likes to think that "oh yeah getting stuff is easier" and then you realize that getting a character is not enough, you need their stigmas, their weapons and especially their supports which also has their own stigma and weapons. By the time you completed your 1 team, another team with the same element appears and powercreep your team who you've been trying to build for a long time. The game literally wants you to keep on rolling new units so you don't get left behind which is either a scummy move they do intentionally, or they are just bad at balancing the game. I agree that this part is shitty and made me glad how friendly and great genshin's power balancing are.

Honkai was incredibly niche coz it was just a hardcore weeb game with heavily built-in sci-fi fictional historical lore that just all sounds nonsensical for a lot of new players starting out since it assumes that you knew everything before honkai 3rd (1st and 2nd) before starting the game. No one will ever read the manga before trying out the game, that's just not how that works. Pretty much they couldn't squeeze everything in because it's a phone game. The overly protective and simp-like community are a turnoff for a lot of new players too. At least for ones who aren't familiar with anime games or had only played a few anime games. Honkai players would go for their throat if they said one bad thing about himeko or kiana lmao. Like a true virgin army. "HoF kiana showing armpits?! REWORK that SHT THIS INSTANT DEVS!", even though they're the one who made this fictional character. Genshin's story has a true beginning for us unlike how honkai started the story from a certain point in the mc's future so ofc we will be lost on what's happening for at least 50% of the total chapters. Like you said, some chapter just felt like an info-dump but I wanted to add that Honkai didn't properly built any of its exposition at all so it made the whole experience even worst. Genshin also slowly introduces you to the new characters and not just assumed that they're somehow best friends when we never seen kiana meet any of the characters before. They hold that explanation off for 15+ chapters (how mei met kiana, their old school) so it's hard to even follow or feel anything for the characters if you didn't fell for the trick that they used by appealing to our emotions (us being attracted to characters being sad) to distract us from the bad and messy storytelling; Honkai story is heavily carried by the characters, not the story. I feel like people just got that confused and didn't want to admit it I actually only like the HoS arc and Elysian realm, personally. I feel like they've made a mess of every story apart from these two. HoD arc in the beginning was actually really good, the Seele backstory was interesting, until they messed the whole thing up later on. Especially with HoD being defeated. Fu hua and bronya had their neck broke and their powers were sealed, but somehow, plot armor, kept them alive and they still uses their herrscher power anyways. It was hella random when they suddenly got their power back and somehow assist Kiana in her new form as if that made any sense. And I get that it's not terrible by default when characters get their powerups through conversations but when characters went through multiple inner monologue inside of their head, also flashbacks/fillers, with no obvious catalyst to cause it, like absorbing another herrscher core or something, it was just dumb. Being forced to press W for 10 minutes so you could stop the flashbacks and finally give the characters their new power isn't just my cup of tea. Having to slow-walk in the story was just so painful for me. Literally, the gameplay was legit just a dmc 4 moment when we fight the final boss kevin like he's the evil pope boss or something. I honestly can't take the story seriously when it felt like a bad parody of dmc and naruto. And yeah, the gacha is awful. I just keep hearing honkai players defending this so it's always weird when they said genshin is far more p2w than honkai. Stockholm syndrome is really cool, I guess.
I can see how many people still see the game in a negative light due to the design of the female characters, but I'm sure that there are a decent amount of main stream games that have the same thing. Due to the media, it will continue to be seen like this because of all the noise, but I truly do appreciate the story. I have been playing the game since the beginning, so this will almost make it 3 years of playing the game. I won't deny that I like some characters due to their looks or their playability, but after experiencing the lore the game has to offer, my way of playing became more validated. Cause of the depth of the lore, I'm not gonna explain it unless I need to.
I must say I have not played sumeru but played inazuma. The best thing this game does is funding honkai impact XD. I mean he ended the video with a honkai song.

Yeah, it do be like that. Most people that i see going into the game without bias against it are people that heard about the game through its music.
I played it for around a month when it launched. Calling it p2w is fairly accurate. You don't "need" the rolled characters, but your progress is going to be 1000x slower if you don't pay up. And it's always going to be an uphill battle, since more characters are constantly released. You're genuinely better off just not bothering and playing a different game. The waifu pictures, of varying degrees of spiciness, are just a quick net search away, for free.

Am I a weirdo for liking puzzles. I actually liked the sudoku-esque puzzles in Inazuma. Also, I really enjoy both the story and lore, unironically. It's a bit of a slow start and Inazuma's main story feels a little rushed, but yeah.

But there is a plot, it's always been present, in Mondstadt, in Liyue, in Inazuma, and in Sumeru, the Fatui was always scheming, The Abyss Order is also but that's more related to the Traveler and their Sibling. It's just the most recent Sumeru section of the Main story got a really big step up writing wise... Besides this game has like 0 fanservice unless you're actively trying to look for it, the Fanservice is quite tame and it's amount is quite small in my eyes

Even in the actual STORY there is a lot of moments where fanservice was present, not to mention other quests and characters themselves.
Here’s the thing, Mihoyo didn’t expect the game to be as popular as it got, so the first 2 regions stories don’t have as much effort in them, but they’re not bad. Inazuma was…rushed due to a certain event *cough*. But it’s fun in its own way. Sumeru though, that’s where everything ramps up to maximum intensity.

As a fictional theorist and a story writer, the plot is actually the main reason that I play the game. It’s massive, deep, amazing, complex, interesting and intriguing. Not as much as Elder Scrolls, Murder Drones, or any soulsborne game ever, but still amazing.
However…
the hentai is an added benefit. (The age of consent is 18 years old)
Main problem with the game is the community tbh.
As for the game itself, people are pretty bias against it because they can't control their gambling urges and blame the game on their poor financial decisions. Story is pretty good (although it's pretty huge so it's not really something you can explain in 1 min) and the game is pretty fun, just takes a bit of time since the first chapter is a snoozefest and you do need a little time to start being able to get more characters. It's in a very weird spot tho, there's not really a traditional end game so grinding is only really necessary for the story bosses. Also literally the only gacha game where you can literally do everything in the game and get most of the characters that you want without spending any money.
No game is good if you never get through the tutorial and only listen to the negative feedback. It's a braindead mindset. Look at the people who hate elden ring for an example of that.

IMO the story of genshin got pretty good and continues to get better after about the halfway point of Liyue ish. When we meet the Geo archon and beyond is when I think the plot genuinely gets pretty good. Before that, Mondstadt was really boring and uninteresting imo and Liyue was kinda the same. I'm just past the dream part of the Sumeru story though atm and im really enjoying it. Also just picked up Nahida and Kuki for a lovely hyperbloom team.

If you want plot, you watch MoB’s playthroughs and streams. We’re the lorekeepers of the game, and it is our passion. There’s a very deep lore to everything, but the reason it’s hard to explain or understand is because it’s just mind-bending. Like, Kingdom Hearts mind-bending, or probably more so. I still believe it makes more sense than Kingdom Hearts, but there’s just SO MUCH more content than that game, that it’s harder to talk about. You can literally talk about it for a whole day.
And yes, I’ve nearly 100% every region. I just have the latest area to complete.

The reason I started playing Genshin was because I heard that there is a library of characters that you can see in different angles so I wanted to trace and learn how to draw anime characters. Then, I saw kaveh for the first time in an add (if you know you know) and fell in love. But I definitely stayed for the plot. It’s actually amazing 😂

I'm not really in deep into the community but honestly so far I've only see people play the game for the lore, the music, the exploration, and the combats (spiral abyss, grinding etc). ofc there are simps among them but I don't feel like that's biggest reason for them to play.
I play mostly for the combat (at least so far, got it like 5 days ago) but the plot is kinda interesting (and so incredibly anime it's crazy)

I heard sumerus story is the best. I havent got into it yet because I dont have alot of time, and every time I open genshin I got hooked with grinding for my chars. But inazuma is also very good. There are also alot of good Side quest that expands the lore, with vastly interesting explorations. The mystery the get solved are very interesting

I’m an enjoyer of both characters and lore, I actually shed tears in numerous occasions, such as Scaramouche’s story, Fontaine archon quest and the chasm quest. During the chasm quest cutscene i was literally in shambles because I thought they were gonna kill Xiao off right there and I was so relieved when his dad (zhongli) came to the rescue. Also as you can tell I am a very devoted Xiao enjoyer and i will forfeit my soul to him any day i swear to go
The reason most people don't play for the lore is simply cos the lore in the early game is confusing af until you watch some of the trailer, play the side quests and watch a lore breakdown video or two. After all that when you do play for the lore you have to wait two months for the next update to it and you forget all about it and start playing for the more available "lore". Though I personally think that the lore past the flaws is super interesting.

kinda funny seeing how some chats were saying that "Honkai is better"... Did these people just try to say that a literal game made for phones is better than a game made on pc and console? Like wtf? It has even less budget than Genshin by like billions of dollars. That said, just beware if you're going to do anything genshin or honkai related content: the honkai community is really delusional.
technically genshin was also made for mobile, they just made it playable for pc and consoles and honkai is also playable for pc. "Honkai is better" probably refer to the story as it is indeed way better than genshin by a long mile, gameplay wise? Hell nah. Honkai's gameplay is just doing the same rotations over and over again but unlike genshin you can't be creative with teambuilding and character builds as it is already predetermined with their signatures. Anyone saying honkai's combat is better than genshin's are just people who likes button mash and braindead gameplay.

I would say Genshin fundamentally has better lore since it's based of, or in reference to, actual mythology, and religion, and has less of a pretentious fictional history than honkai's lore. Like Genshin has 5000 years of lore on genshin wiki, it's kinda insane and it's like a play on Greek mythology (3 moons, primordial ones, descender, etc) and the concept of demiurge, even satans, norse mythology, and other references. I mean, Elysian realm character and story is the best thing there is in honkai story, but the rest is not even worth mentioning. That's just how bad the overall story is for honkai, especially the shtty and weeb sci-fi like lore and cringy pseudo-philosophical lines of character attempting to sound smart only to make themselves sound dumber (kevin, dr mei, aphonia zoo analogy, einstein, etc).
Genshin's definitely made for pc first. I mean, just look at the size of genshin, insanely massive. By the time we get to natlan it's probably gonna be over 120 GB on PC since Sumeru is freaking massive already.

It's worth noting that honkai also has the messiest of writings, convoluted storytelling with a lot of skipped over information that gets explained 15+ chapters later or not at all, action first explanation later rule (like a typical mobile gacha story game where the story doesn't get respected early on and we have to pretend to know what's happening until chapter 20), terrible character and relationship introduction (maxed frienship, we don't know who these characters are), over repetitive use of anime power up after talk-no-jutsu like how kiana talked to her doppelganger HoV (the entire basis here is naruto, ninetail fox sirin, her parents, kiana's personality, naruto vs sasuke moment, etc) or when the final chapter was just us pressing W for 10 minutes listening to a long filler conversation while playing as kiana or mei into an anime powerup, getting a new form, from the help of nothing. the entire final arc on the moon, why they when to space testing a ship ride on the moon, project stigma happened off-screen at the perfect time, why there's a base on space with the serpent discarded members, why the moon is safe, why kiana's dad is on the moon when he got stabbed by that one herrscher and died on the spot, how and why mc went from one scene to another (sometimes they skipped the entire explanation as if they rushed through it), and so on.
And yeah, $300 in honkai's about 40-50 pulls, in Genshin, that's 180 pulls (guarantee 2 5*). Getting 40-50 pulls per $300 while not counting the total pity for each rated up unit (240+ pulls, wep + chr banner), it clearly indicates that Honkai is a p2w game not even by Genshin's standard alone, it's somehow even more p2w than nikke. I mean, just look at how many unit went obsolete now that HoT, HoO, and HoF powercreep everybody. Imagine spending real money for aphonia, vill v, mobius, etc, and came to the realization that they just wasted actual time and money. they really need to make gacha cheaper when 99% of the characters get powercreep almost every 3 months.
@@Qopa Nah genshin WAS definitely made for mobile because mobile market is big especially in asia and everyone have phones so they wanted to make a game that caters to the general people rather than actual gamers (honkai was a bit too niche), it's the reason why genshin is a casual game with no endgame content and why they keep on trying to minimize it's own size by cutting early story chapters instead of saving them and made replay available while also having these varieties of events that is not based on combat.
For the story, it is definitely better simply because it had the time to be better. If given the same amount of time i wholly believe that genshin can catch up to the quality of honkai's story and even be better as the base of genshin's world and teyvat in general is already great.
As for your own personal opinion of the story i have to disagree. Just because something is not based on something else that you know doesn't mean that it is bad. Honkai just took a bunch of famous people's name, genderbent them and then use them as their own character without having any relations to the real ones, that's pretty much it. Plot being explained in details 15+ chapter after the initial info was given is usually being followed by tiny bits of hint along those 15+ chapter, this is simply called foreshadowing which can be good and bad (honkai has both tbh).I can say for sure that most stuff was foreshadowed in the early chapters (like how the real kiana was said to be on the moon implying that the moon is an actual accessible place). Also ending a conflict by talking does not equal to bad writing as you need to understand the context and execution of said conversations and events (HoV and HoD was pretty bad, HoS was decent, Otto, Durandal and the flame chasers were amazing).
I do admit there are some parts that's just either bad, unnecessarily long and straight up fillers like how mei joined the jormmungandr and especially the arc before that with raven, and don't get me started with the first 8 chapters. But the recent chapters are doing a pretty good job at "retconning" information from the past. The moon ch was indeed full of explanations and made me feel like i wasn't playing a game and also made a lot of the stuff sounds more complicated than they actually are, but i'm fine with that. I do hate anime powerups but as long as they give me a justifiable reason then i am ok with it.
As for the gacha, yeah it is bad lol. The worst thing is that honkai players likes to think that "oh yeah getting stuff is easier" and then you realize that getting a character is not enough, you need their stigmas, their weapons and especially their supports which also has their own stigma and weapons. By the time you completed your 1 team, another team with the same element appears and powercreep your team who you've been trying to build for a long time. The game literally wants you to keep on rolling new units so you don't get left behind which is either a scummy move they do intentionally, or they are just bad at balancing the game. I agree that this part is shitty and made me glad how friendly and great genshin's power balancing are.
@@HeseliqMikav If genshin was made for mobile then there shouldn't be a console version for xbox and other consoles since a phone game made for phones shouldn't be avaliable in those platforms. And yeah, Genshin's at 66 GB right now on my pc, and it's only 4/7 nations that got introduced. But if you're just talking about their target audience then I agree with you. But more than half of the total player population definitely plays on PC > mobile. Like, I never seen anyone plays on mobile lmao. the controls are so trash too when I tried it.
Honkai was incredibly niche coz it was just a hardcore weeb game with heavily built-in sci-fi fictional historical lore that just all sounds nonsensical for a lot of new players starting out since it assumes that you knew everything before honkai 3rd (1st and 2nd) before starting the game. No one will ever read the manga before trying out the game, that's just not how that works. Pretty much they couldn't squeeze everything in because it's a phone game.
The overly protective and simp-like community are a turnoff for a lot of new players too. At least for ones who aren't familiar with anime games or had only played a few anime games. Honkai players would go for their throat if they said one bad thing about himeko or kiana lmao. Like a true virgin army. "HoF kiana showing armpits?! REWORK that SHT THIS INSTANT DEVS!", even though they're the one who made this fictional character.
Genshin's story has a true beginning for us unlike how honkai started the story from a certain point in the mc's future so ofc we will be lost on what's happening for at least 50% of the total chapters. Like you said, some chapter just felt like an info-dump but I wanted to add that Honkai didn't properly built any of its exposition at all so it made the whole experience even worst.
Genshin also slowly introduces you to the new characters and not just assumed that they're somehow best friends when we never seen kiana meet any of the characters before. They hold that explanation off for 15+ chapters (how mei met kiana, their old school) so it's hard to even follow or feel anything for the characters if you didn't fell for the trick that they used by appealing to our emotions (us being attracted to characters being sad) to distract us from the bad and messy storytelling; Honkai story is heavily carried by the characters, not the story. I feel like people just got that confused and didn't want to admit it
I actually only like the HoS arc and Elysian realm, personally. I feel like they've made a mess of every story apart from these two. HoD arc in the beginning was actually really good, the Seele backstory was interesting, until they messed the whole thing up later on. Especially with HoD being defeated. Fu hua and bronya had their neck broke and their powers were sealed, but somehow, plot armor, kept them alive and they still uses their herrscher power anyways. It was hella random when they suddenly got their power back and somehow assist Kiana in her new form as if that made any sense.
And I get that it's not terrible by default when characters get their powerups through conversations but when characters went through multiple inner monologue inside of their head, also flashbacks/fillers, with no obvious catalyst to cause it, like absorbing another herrscher core or something, it was just dumb. Being forced to press W for 10 minutes so you could stop the flashbacks and finally give the characters their new power isn't just my cup of tea.
Having to slow-walk in the story was just so painful for me. Literally, the gameplay was legit just a dmc 4 moment when we fight the final boss kevin like he's the evil pope boss or something. I honestly can't take the story seriously when it felt like a bad parody of dmc and naruto.
And yeah, the gacha is awful. I just keep hearing honkai players defending this so it's always weird when they said genshin is far more p2w than honkai. Stockholm syndrome is really cool, I guess.

I can see how many people still see the game in a negative light due to the design of the female characters, but I'm sure that there are a decent amount of main stream games that have the same thing. Due to the media, it will continue to be seen like this because of all the noise, but I truly do appreciate the story. I have been playing the game since the beginning, so this will almost make it 3 years of playing the game. I won't deny that I like some characters due to their looks or their playability, but after experiencing the lore the game has to offer, my way of playing became more validated. Cause of the depth of the lore, I'm not gonna explain it unless I need to.
