The amount of frustration and anger I got when she said i need MORE motes of light to open the fucking chest is ridiculous. This has to be the most unnecessarily lengthy quest Destiny has ever had. All I want is my gun man
I actually despise the amount of steps bungie throws in with these quest,”here’s the chest for the khvostov, now go play overthrow some more and we’ll let you unlock it” banging my head against the wall
You used to have to run end game activities to get exotic chances, but you complain about just playing the game? Experiencing the content? It’s really sad how the community just wants shit handed to them. Go earn your loot and stop whining you have a game to play

Great guide Zwerg! I already had the exotic mote from doing Overthrow and I had found all the Traveler collectibles so I thought I could just open the chest. Didn't realize I had to go back and get the legendary version first so this was helpful for doing the 6 cysts! I think whoever designed moth filled cavern was just having a bad week at work and decided the rest of us needed to be miserable during that experience, lol.
The blue birds are not showing up at the entrances (2 of them at each of the 3 areas). Only if you go into the area a little deeper will you see the birds but them you will not know which one to follow.
That’s okay!!! On the map you should have a mission icon for the cyst. Go there and you’ll find a blue glowing bird near it. Activate it and follow it inside the caves and that will bring you back into a specific type of cyst. Each area zone has two birds that bring you back into the cysts! :)
This quest is still bugged. Sitting at 16/17 motes. All triumphs done. Meatball farmed many times. And no, it’s still not fixed from what Bungie stated or the going to orbit fix.
So... since i have all 6 of them unlocked, do i need to redo the quests again then to unlock the collectable key? cause doing it normally doesnt seem to show it.
Ive unlocked the legendary rifle and got all sphered and I cannot unlock exotic rifle, they keep you in here if I knew it I would have never have done it
Sadly not as good as the original. I mean it’s good but you can’t customize it. I loved the exotic in D1 because you could make it a pulse rifle of scout rifle. Now it’s just another basic auto rifle. I think they should add a catalyst where you can hold down a button and switch between modes.
Edit: I vaulted all my motes and saved meatball for last, killed him with a LMG and kept firing after he died, TADA! got the mote. Hope this helps someone!
finally got the rifle. I don't understand the hype surrounding this rifle. Quite frankly, if I want ricochet, rounds. I could have used my hard light rifle. This weapon it's trash. And from what I read somewhere that this Rifle it's going to be nerfed What a pity. What a shame. All that hard work for all the destiny, 2 players and the community for bungie. To nerf A rifle that people put so much hard work into what a joke
If anyone is struggling to open the golden chest at the end even though they have the exotic mote, I could only get the prompt to open it from a specific angle on the left hand side of the chest. Finally I am done...
you can run them again using the quest from Micah, and yes it stinks but you will have to beat most of them again but on the bright side you have a good chance of getting red bar weapons for crafting

Nah, there are definitely more annoying quests, I don't remember the names, but compared to those, this one is definitely grindy and straightforward.
The quest for Izanagi's Burden was even more tedious ... and time gated too.

there is a way to check which mote of light your missing by going to triump,pale heart,world then click exploration..

There is a bug that has caused the exotic version since you can only get 16 motes of light. Bungie disabled the meatball boss until it is fixed
