I read that this song was one of the songwriter, Virgil P. Brock's first efforts, and he was inspired by a traveling salesman who distributed "Gideon" Bibles.
This is what happens when you allow people to keep their hymn books, and encourage them to read the music contained in it. All that wonderful harmony and those pieces of what used to be called "fuguing tunes (sic)" are the result of people looking at notes on a page, and doing what it says! We have lost that in most churches today. It's all by ear. If somebody wants to sing harmony, he's going to have to figure it out for himself. May God help us find our way back to the way of our fathers, and help us get out of the clutches of the Christian Entertainment Industry!
The Church of Christ denomination believes musical instruments in a church are wrong. They obviously are not rightly dividing the Word of Truth in that (and many other) cases.
I believe it ! They don't what they are missing out on. I love music in the church. I was raise in a Pentecostal church I didn't have anywhere to go for years. I played the piano for years and i prayed that god would send me to even a Baptist church. There was a church that needed a piano player, and praying for one. So God sent a goup that sung and said this church needed piano player. This group sung a special . during that time the church was having a revival. They had already had someone to play for that revival. So when that it was over that week that appointed me to be piano player. i have been there now for 31 years. God is so good. Of course we have our problems but we work through them. We have a great time besides all that. They couldn't even carry a tune. I worked them one that. I read music but play mostly by ear.

Most people said musical instrument wasn't in the church in the New testament. Why are so against it , it makes the music sound better.
