The parties were much bigger there back in the 80's. Remember the huge water balloon fights in the channel? The people would throw water balloons at the boats from both sides as they would come in and the boat would fight back with their own water balloons. Its got so big and out of control they banned the practice. Even the stores were selling water balloon launchers it got so big. Good times back then. Now the channel is pretty tame today.

Havasu is always full because California has the highest allotment/entitlements of the Colorado River. Havasu is the balancing reservoir and more water is released from Lake Powell and Lake Mead so it meets those allotments.

That all said hanging in the channel all day is for the locals that have done the lake a million times and that hey look at me crowd.. there’s a million great places to go on the lake and I can tell you first hand you aren’t going to see them all in one weekend.. I’d drive thru the channel once and head south.. and then once again the next day on my way north. Join the website riverdavesplace.com and post a thread about what to see where to go.. Love Lake Havasu. But Frankly the Boats have outgrown the Lake. It's just not the same. No matter what day you go. Monday thru Sunday.

First come first serve but a lot of people get up at 3-4 am on holiday weekends and park their boats in spots.
