We all have skill in building our layouts, and each his own specialist subject. Mine is track laying and ballasting and yours is in my opinion one of THE most difficult skills...understanding the technical side of buildings. I am enthrawled by your accuracy and stunning ability to achieve what you set out to do. Strangely every morning when I open my Ready Brek packet I think of Chandwell!!! Thanks for such huge value enjoyment. Cheers, Bob
Sorry for your loss. Hope the family is doing ok. I think this format works for the final assembly vid. The voice over is great for the regular vids though. I like the explanations of the successes and mistakes, and your dulcet voice makes you sound like the most damn pleasant fella in all of England.
Thank you Mark. We are all doing well, thank you. I won't be making very many videos like this... my dulcet tones will return! But I'm not sure I'm the most pleasant fella in all of England, mind you! :) :)
You have made a small part of Chandwell almost legendary. What a magnificently realistic, inspiring and entertaining body of work you have shown today. Thank you.
I continue to be astonished at the incredible results you achieve with such humble raw materials. In this age of last cut wood, cast resin and 3D printing, your models are an inspiration to modelers everywhere.
I hope you build some Victorian proto-skyscraper 20-stories tall that Sir Christopher Ravenwood Chandwell built after founding the ironworks (or something!) lit up with some parts now derelict. (Well, just kidding, LOL!) Seriously, it's so evocative and I just love watching you build this stuff from nothing. Thanks for showing us this backdrop for unique stories. Love it!
You are quite good at this modelling malarkey aren't you Michael... A pleasure to watch, as always. Sad to see that its a memorial to Kathryn. This is a great tribute. P
Beautiful fine work there Michael, and the end result is truly a work of art. The pan at the end along the street shows a simply amazing succession of top level modelling. Stephen
and as usual, the most amazing feat id that all this is just cardboard, printed paper, celluloid, glue, paint, weathering, and patience and love... in N scale. Not forgetting cheesecake wrapping :-)
Hi Michael, lovely video and as usual the comments relate just how good a modeller you are and in such a small scale, I know! I hope you’re all well, my best wishes to you from all of us here at Exehaven, cheers Michael, John
Thank you Don. The sun never shines in Chandwell, of course, but I know what you mean! Maybe the clouds will get less menacing! Thank you for the kind words. :)
Thinkng of the scale and matrials, what you finish with is just amazing! also your vision on what fits and looks right is also amazing and the combination of these makes the scenes so lifelike and well detailed enough that a visitor is able to see more and more details! WOW!!!
@@Chandwell Downloadable model railway buildings. A proven business model, already you use some of John Wiffen's textures. Once the start up work was done, you would have a largely passive income stream, a new building design every once in a while. You would need to think of a standard range...houses, office blocks, engine shed, station buildings etc.the designs you print onto a4 sticky labels. Turn them into downloadable PDFs. You would sell so many downloads! You could offer bespoke custom downloads at a premium. I would like to commission a 60s tower block of flats lolz.
Sorry for your loss. I was just watching the new Elvenhome video then this one and you started to cut the circular windows with a scalpel. Stephen has a few tools from OLFA, and he was demo'ing them. couple of them were tools for cutting circles, thought it might be worth your time to check them out as it might save a bit of time here and there with circle cuts. One their website it's called a compass cutter and there looks to be a few interesting bits of kit there as well. Really looking forward to seeing this when it's all done, it looks awesome so far.
I love watching your videos. I was a Draughtsman in an earlier life and feel I should be able to come up with something; I found s building in Glasgow on Google Earth but nit sure his to capture its dimensions. Think you described your approach but cant remember which one it was or which video to look fir…?
Thank you! I think it was this one where I described using Google maps to measure buildings. Scratch building from Google Street View - Building Market Street Part 9 ruclips.net/video/aJozFZv4e7E/видео.html

Thank you so much Bob! That is very kind.
Incredible that someone could make all that in just 4 minutes and 46 seconds!
:)
Love the use of Lego Man he looks like such a Giant on your layout.
It’s surprising how large he looks isn’t it?
Sorry for your loss. Hope the family is doing ok.

Also, that building looks amazing. Nice project and a great bunch of vids! Thank you!

Many years ago I knew two professional model makers, both of whom were very gifted craftspeople, your work easily stands beside theirs.
Wow, thank you James. That is very kind.
Beautiful tribute Michael, so sorry for your loss. Roy
Thank you Roy.

Absolutely stunning Michael.

That's a cool final build summary. Nice recap.
Hope all is well with you and yours. Sun will shine on Chandwell.

Sorry for your loss. Great to see the whole project in one go 👍🏻
Thank you Simon.
Sorry for your loss mate. Perhaps 1 - 7 Market Street could be known as Kathryn Thompson House in memory. Arthur
Thank you Arthur. That’s a good idea.
Just brilliant and amazing work. Sorry for your loss, time is a healer.
Thank you Peter.
With each building you complete I am more convinced that you should be in business!
Thanks Phil... what business were you thinking..? :)

Sorry for your loss.
Thank you David.
Your work is such a great inspiration. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Mark.
So Amazing, Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Dave!
Am running out of superlatives. Again your patience, skill and attention to detail is second to none. What is going into the middle of the row?
Thank you Robin. The hole is currently being filled by three more buildings. Dirty and dingy of course. One of them is in a state of renevation.
That looks absolutely stunning. The precision of your work never ceased to amaze me!
Andrew🙂
Thank you Andrew

Beautiful video and a moving tribute 😪
Thank you very much, Paul!
The stairs look really difficult, would you consider utilising a 3d printer to make the process easier? I Enjoy your videos.
Maybe one day in future, but for now, I’ll keep trying to do what I can by hand. I enjoy it in a strange way.
Superb
Thank you Colin
Where is Chandwell or is it a figment of your wonderful imagination?
Chandwell is very loosely inspired by Bradford and it’s surrounding towns but other than that, it is completely made up!
The best
Thank you Chris!!
Ihave no idea what your occupation is in life but you enrich so many other people so sorry that was the little gap was Michael.
Thank you Peter, that is very kind and means a lot.
