- Dominic Miller - Guitar, David Sancious - Keyboards, Vinnie Colaiuta - Drums. From Sting's 40th Birthday Concert at the Hollywood Bowl October 1991. This was taped on the Disney Channel in 1992, which featured most of the concert interspersed with interviews and video clips. The entire concert is on a rare Japanese laserdisc.
I love how colors looked on vhs. Classic
Great keyboards!
what an amazing voice and vocal range. Great musicians too.
i remember renting this & sting surprised me again. i ended up watching the full movie Bring on the night & i enjoyed it, it gave me good & funny memories with the best music & i still enjoy it to this day & want it as part of dvd collection. God Bless u Sting
Dominic Miller is bad ass
❤❤❤
This was the pay per view version, very scarce!
La mejor formación sin dudas
Anybody who says this performance sucks is I guarantee not a musician.
Nobody says that, c'mon.
This is a kickass live version of both songs!! Glad to have stumbled upon this gem.
Check out this version, - ruclips.net/video/5eGe2R1QY50/видео.html
Brilliant band 👍🏻 I love both these tracks .
Yes, kickass versions of both songs by a kickass band!
Simply incredible. The piano solo was truly musical. One of the best live rock concerts I've seen.
Saw it live. My jaw just dropped during that solo. Unbelievable. So glad it been posted.
@@jeffoscodar3124 This band was great. I saw the "Soul Cages" show at the Wiltern in L.A. in early 1991 about 7 months before this Hollywood Bowl show. Just like at the Bowl show, Andy Summers came out for the encore. Vinx opened the show. Not sure but I think the English Beat were at the Wiltern show too. Joni Mitchell was in the audience about 6 rows in front of me!
Solo maravilhoso do tecladista. Um dos melhores que já vi. Mais alguém no Brasil em 2019??
por favor, veja o original com Kenny Kirkland nos teclados....Desculpe, mas não dá para comparar com esse solo.
what a four-piece. bass/vocals, guitar, keyboards, drums. on point!
I like the sound of his voice. Great singer
Andy Summers is always the "forgotten one" of The Police, but his guitar chords were awesome.
Keep in mind that al the real harmony was brought by a single guitar.
I strongly recommend to listen to his solo albums or altogether with his great friend Robert Fripp.
Most definitely. Andy Summers provided the cool harmonies all coming from his guitar / guitar synth. Easy to take that for granted, but the band would not have sounded the way they did without him. His solo CDs are awesome, my favorite being “Last Dance of Mr. X” from 1997. Thanks for listening.
Incredible solo of David Sancious!
What a great performance by Sting and his band is incredible here!
Min 2:00..Siempre me pasa igual con Mr. Sting.. Estoy viendo una actuacion impecable pero esos 💪💪 distraen mi atencion😍😍😍
Thanks for the comment. It's funny, but the sound on this Disney special from '92 is much better than the original Japanese laser disc that it came from. The laser disc is rather flat and bland sounding. They really made the sound happen for the Disney special. I believe that Miles Copeland may have been involved in the Disney production. It's too bad they didn't feature the complete concert from the laser disc - there's like 5 or 6 more tunes, including 'Purple Haze'!
My God! No words...incredible!
Vinnie Colaiuta wasone of Frank Zappa's favourite drummers, can't imagine why, lol.
Seen Vinnie a coupla' times with Jeff Beck, and Robben Ford, before that. Vinnie is a RHYTHM BEAST!
@@tswrench Did Vinnie play with Chick Corea and his Electik stufff!!??
@@abrahamgamboa - Good question! I had to look that one up. He played with Chick Corea on 2000 Live From Blue Note Tokyo.
@@tswrench thanks man!!!
Stewart Copeland still can’t be beat on this old Police material though…..class
Esta versión es exquisita
This guy on keyboard is no "corn flake" !
Damn that keyboard player is smokin it!! WOOOO!
David Sancious !
Maravilloso 😍
Thank you so much for posting this, what an amazing show !
Kenny Kirkland was the best pianoplayer of this song, EVER!!! RIP
That’s not Kenny. I believe it’s David Sancious.
@@The_McD : Kenny Kirkland was the pianist on both the dream of the blue turtles and the soul cages albums. Rip
Kenny Kirkland....
ruclips.net/video/1zzzby2tAQM/видео.html :'v
Yeah, David did a great job here but ultimately Kenny Kirkland brought us out of the earth’s orbit , fact
Ha! I recorded this too when it came on pay per view in 1990! The Disney Channel ran it again a few years later. Very fine production with a neat instrumental remix of Mad About You in the prelude that I could never find on b sides or CD singles. Hmm
Lean, mean rock machine that`s Sting. I wonder what that blonde looks like today ,mmm?
Or that ultra hot brunette chick in the audience.
Dominic Miller
Sting usually plays a Fender 1951 Precision Bass, not a Fender Jazz Bass.
Sting was playing a variety of basses at that time.
That whole front row was Sting's harem. Eenie-meenie-miney mo.
Clearly. Taking them to Tantra town.
@@MrPrice2U eat 'em Sting they love it!!! I play sax and love to leave the ladies trippppping!!!
hey, that´s a sexist remark... kidding - it was hollywood in 1991 after all... hear me Weinstein?
@@ThvonS Wait, Weinstein? What does he have anything to do with these female fans who happen to be adoring their favorite musician up-close, front-row, trying to catch his attention with the hopes of getting offered an apertif with Sting after the show? Zilch! You're off-base, even if ur kidding. Just a snarky comment about groupies. That's all. Nothing more, nothing less. Sexist? Take that up with the entire music establishment. Let's not taint a Sting video or fanbase with that name ever again, OK? Okay.
Like Kane Agreed
God was playing the boards that night.
Great show. Glad we have that to share man... Be well....
Min 7.06. Girl's hot
I had a taped version of the concert and wore the dammed thing out years ago. Thanks so much for the upload were I can once again visit with one of the best live songs (concerts) ever. Dominic Miller and his solo work in this song inspired me to learn how to play guitar (Still do :). Any idea how I can get my hands back onto a copy of this?
Thanks again... Sparks...
You're welcome. As far as this show, your best bet is to track down the laser disc from Japan. I don't think it ever came out on DVD. The Disney show which this is from on VHS tape was only broadcast on the Disney channel in 1992. Sometime I may post the entire Disney broadcast.
I like the jazzy Bring on the night ...the way the chorus is different, you’d think it wouldn’t work but it totally does
Guy on the keyboards is badass!
Are you serious? You have to listen to the album verison
@@lautaro_jz_ I am serious and what makes you think I've never heard the album version?
@@GSGExtreme44 I misread your comment, sorry!
@@lautaro_jz_ exactly, poor solo. Listen to this make us miss Mr Kenny Kirkland, who killed himself. He recorded the album. That solo is anthological
Guy on keyboards is David Sancious
Carajo q finura de jazz
Excellent la façon dont sont partis les solos
He must be English.
he must be hahaha
Most of them govern the world with their sincretic songs.
in rock music they are the best his song an english in new york is one of his best
Any bass players out there know what that slapped note is at the start ? Open E string ?
This band KICKS ASS!
Misterioso tu comienzo pero esperanzador tu final.. Bring on the night and when the world is running down...
Part of Sting's musical genius is that he is humble enough to let other musical geniuses showcase their talents. This video proves it. Love it!
+Dawn Billmyre Aaaaahh, just mindblowing solos!!!
I guess Dawn never saw Stewart Copeland's drum heads.
increible!
mi maestro siempre sera
Great upload!
My favorite song
ufffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff!!!
Great team in action here
per caricarti un po' alla mattina!!!!!!!
stai andando?
no oggi risto con piccolo giro pomeridiano ma domani mi scateno un bel 180k si incomincia a fare sul serio
ℳassimiliano Bucciol e tu sei in procinto di????

Rolled pretty hard @ the Disney TV advert!! Hahaha!!
lol yeah, that was beyond my control
Kick ass !!!
sabes que te falta copeland y summers.
Great band but nothing can replace the police.
R.I.P KENNY ❤
Non
A genuine attempt to somewhat address Kenny Kirkland's solo on the famous album from 1986. Sorry, but it cannot be compared with Kenny Kirkland's rendition, which is now part of music history. Kenny Kirkland was one of the most talented jazz pianists of the second half of the 20th century. And the aforementioned solo he created is the work of a genius.
David Sancious did an OK job, but it is impossible to get near KK.
I see many people does not know Kenny Kirkland's solo and that's why it needs to be addressed.
Kenny Kirkland’s solo on the original (and subsequent live versions) took me out of the earth’s orbit. Fair play to David but as great as it was it still pales in comparison to Kenny’s
@@therealrussellsmyth well said!
The sound of 85 was greatly modified with Dominic Muller. The keyboards weren't up to Kenny Kirkland
At 3:14 are when we deeply miss Mr Kenny Kirkland.
He mangled this horribly.
And the Q&A with B Marsalis also leaves a lack weird at the song.
Sell out and it shows..
Yeah that arena is packed
Pale, noisy, sloppy. Very bad version compared to the original with Daryl Jones, Hakim and Kenny Kirkland. While Sancious is grooving, Miller's guitar is noisy as hell and completely out from the mood Sancious have taken. Then Sancious himself gets trapped in the noisy guitar climate and everything falls apart. Well...
