The issue you point out about it "not playing nice" with Steam you just need to set the debounce flag as 1 in the arduino sketch. According to the author, this adds minimal latency unlike other implementations. This completely solved the issue with mapping the controller using steam for me at least.
Sure, even if minimal there must still be an impact, but you could also measure it again just to see how much the DaemonBite with debouncing enabled compares to alternatives.
Overall I think the daemonbite is the absolute best there is for mainly solo PC gaming. What I mean by solo is that you play alone in your house or carry the same laptop everywhere. Nothing beats the ease of use of plug and play the brook offers, not to mention the broad console compatibility.

You can also play Tekken with it.
The arduino is recognized as a analog stick, so you need to use the keyboard to navigate de menus, but the gameplay is flawless.
This is probably true for other games as well, so check it out.

_Daemon_ is an archaic spelling of _demon_ and is pronounced the same way. It's not "daymon".

    Thank you for this video.
Brook updated the firmware on the Universal Fighting Board recently to v3.0 and claim lower input lag in xbox one mode. Could you please test this out. They also claim 1. Input sensitivity improvement

I can check. I know the PS4 mode has boosted a lot for v3.0 and the UP5 upgrade but had issues when lag testing that mode due to weird abnormalities with my Arduino and UFB. I have been planning to do an input lag roundup video with sticks I haven't tested but haven't had the time. I will either post it there or put it on Twitter. Thank you.

I want to play CPS games on MISTer - I don't have an arcade stick, but I want to buy something of the highest quality. - a stick that really feels like an arcade cab. - I am not sure I understand your results graph. - What is the fastest stick you would recommend? - I know MISTer has SNAC for some consoles, - I would assume that for arcade cores, I would be able to use a "real" arcade stick, ie, I guess a stick that is not using USB. - I guess if I can use a good PS3 stick with a DaemonBite, but not sure if thats the ULTIMATE!

If you want closest to an arcade cab feel, there is Hori's Real Arcade Pro Premium VLX series of sticks if you like the Japanese side of things. Basically recreates the main control panel of the Taito Vewlix cabinets for players. There is the EZ Mod for VLX from Jasen's Customs that you can replace the stock PCB (the PS4 models) with that of the Brook Universal Fighting Board which is the fastest board WITH modern console compatibility. Problem is that it's not sold anymore and it goes for high prices second hand. There is also Hori's older Real Arcade Pro models for PS2 and PS3 that is a shrunken version of the Sega Astro City cabinet control panel but as for latency I can't say. Sega also made the Virtua Stick Pro which looks like a chopped off 1:1 Astro City panel but is relatively uncommon unless you check out Yahoo! Auctions Japan. That big chungus of a stick(s) can probably work with the RetroPad32, which is very comparable in latency to the DaemonBite encoder and the UFB, and it can connect to a MiSTer.
As for fastest consumer arcade stick (PS4 mostly), there is the Razer Panthera. After comparing the Victrix Pro FS on one of my videos, which was marketed as the fastest, Razer's stick is faster. It's not close to lagless but still solid. UFB then still does a lot better by comparison. I know folks in the fighting game community replace the Panthera's PCB with that of the UFB via Jasen's Customs' EZ Mod for Panthera.
I haven't looked into SNAC as much so I can't say.
As for putting a DaemonBite encoder on a PS3 stick, it's possible. Just wire the correct inputs to the proper areas and make sure every input is grounded. Since the encoder only has a couple of ground points, consider daisy chaining a good amount of the inputs such as the buttons and the lever having its own.
Apologies for the long reply, especially if it's a lot to take in, and hopefully it helps. Best of luck.

@@brentgreeff1115 If you have not decided yet, may I also recommend the SEGA Astro City Mini Arcade Stick. Great build quality. All quality Sanwa parts inside (just like the Astro City arcade cab). Great arcade feeling. Low latency. Works nicely with MISTer. And you can easily swap out the PCB with a Brooks if you feel like it. Oh, and you can still buy it from new. (PS: I own both the Hori/Taito RAP Pro Vewlix Kuro that Phantomnaut mentioned and 2x SEGA Astro City Mini Arcade Sticks).

Would daemonbite firmware work on a Teensy 2.0?

  • @fuck4
    @fuck4 3 года назад

Most consoles don't even poll at 1ms which is why most controllers aren't designed for that speed except for non officially licensed manufacturers like Brook who BTW uses hacks to circumvent authentication.
