Another year and another adventure. I believe there is a canals to the south of France, but i think there is a very low height and other restrictions. It would have saved you the hazardous journey around Spain and would make another series of interesting videos. Thank you for the updates of your plans.
Wishing you a very happy and safe New Year. Thank you for sharing your travel intentions, I look forward to being a “passenger” as you head towards the Med. Take care.
Cheers and Happy New Year from across the pond and the "left" coast of the US. Sun is shining and about 55 F (12.7 C). Thank you for your 2024 adventures and we're looking forward to your 2025 voyages.
Happy New Year Henk-Jan. What an exciting announcement for 2025 for your subscribers and an amazing adventure for you! I for one will be following along with anticipation and excitement! Looking forward to seeing the episodes to come as you prepare Lady Liselot. 👍🏻👏🙏🛥️
A very Happy, Healthy New Year to you!! I truly understand your "safe haven" as the place you want to be. I am looking forward to following your adventures to the Med. Are you looking to have a particular country and marina to act as your home base for cruising in the Med? BTW, have been loving your summer videos of the trip through Germany to Sweden.
Hi Paul, best wishes to you too. "Getting there, whilst enjoying the ride" is the first goal and then we'll see. I have no particular country or spot in mind.
It’s all Schengen territory so, no customs paperwork. Some fuel docks would be nice. Some times there are harbors behind a lock, that only opens around HW. Would be nice if I manage that so that I do not beach in front of the lock, but then I have additional footage to share.
Happy New Year also to you Henk-Jan. I look forward to your new adventures, but even as a Swede living at the west coast, i look forward to your remaining Videos from Sweden. By the way, the Swedish cookie has a nickname. ”Vakuumcleaner” 😊 You mention you have to sort out some for your business. What business are you doing? and I am curious how you can combine it with your long trips.
Hi Mikael, If you have a look at the last video of season4, then you will see that I mention the 'vacuum cleaner' nickname. In the comments you see more names mentioned. I run an ecommerce business that dropships products from a Dutch factory in Belgium and The Netherlands, so I am a digital Nomad. As long I have internet, I am in business.
Thank you Henk-Jan, you got me addicted to your „Hechmjer……“ or how ever cookies addicted! Lucky I can get them in Edmonton! Cheers from🇨🇦 But yours look much better yet!😋 So I have no choice and gotta come to Holland!😂
You are saving my life Henk!🤣 Btw. Why are you not planning on going via the french canals to the meds? I’m sure you would find a pretty looking sailor, to join you and help you to make it safely through the locks!😉 Or is a pharmaceutical sponsor helping you out on this voyage?😉 Another concern I have are the killer wales along the Spanish coast terrorizing poor Lady Liselotte, that would be tragic!😨
I have seen beautiful video's of the rivers and canals of France but, with the mast down and full tanks, the height of Lady Liselot is 5.1m. Every river or canal from the Rhine to the Rhone (Saône, Canal de Bourgogne, Canal du Rhone au Rin, Canal du Centre, Canal latéral à la Loire, Canal latéral à la Garonne, Canal du midi) has at least one fixed bridge of 4.6m, most of them are 3.5m. From what I have heard, is that the Killer Wales only attack sailboats. 'Attack' is a word that expresses our feeling, but experts says the Wales are bored because of more than enough blue vin tuna. In previous days the Wales were hunting all day, but with enough food, they start getting bored. Almost like human teenagers...
@ oh, shoot never thought about Lady Liselotte’s height, that is too bad. I hope what u say about the killer whales proofs to be right and they will be busy hunting. I heard one sailer saying he kept his speed up and thinks that might be a reason the orcas didn’t attack. Or else let’s hope that the orcas learn to be gentle when playing, considering how smart they are. Btw. A very happy New Year to you and all my best wishes for 2025! 🫶🤗🙏🇨🇦
Mensen zoeken zekerheden in begrenzingen.
Look at our Sweden sailers, Bianca and Eric, they are sailing from Sweden to the Med and doing 1 day trips. How much diesel does your boat consume per hour? She do looks like a fine ship. Maybe install stabilisers for a better ride. Would like to live your boat life but it's just too expensive for a normal Sweede. Have a great 2025!
Thanx for the tip of the sailing couple. I subscribed. All 3 after market stabilizer suppliers have been on board, but the gab between my budget and their invoice (€ 80-100k) is to big.
Moin moin Henk Jan, happy new Year to you and your Lady too. 🙂 Thanks for the Informations of your Plan for 2025. I wish you much success with this plan and hope with you that Neptune will be kind, so you won't have to feed the fish too much along the way. 😉
A really happy new year to you!🎉 And thank you so much for all the nice videos in 2024😃🙏🏻 I am so looking forward to all the new adventures in the coming year😊 And by the way; Isn't it also possible to sail via french waterways and come out in the Med via the Rhône? 🤔 Just qurious😊
Henk Hi, Good news, if you come to Portugal it will be a pleasure to meet you and help you cruising the Douro River (starts in Spain, joins the Atlantic at Oporto), you can't miss it, 216 navigable kms (from Oporto to the boarder with Spain) and 80 kms are world heritage classified by Unesco! Maybe I can join you with my boat for a few days!
Ahh, my plans were not that advanced already, but yes, the moment I see a river, (like the Seine) which I can cruise, I for sure will explore that one to. So many spots to visit and to share with the viewer. Thanks for the invite.
Henk-Jan, we crossed path outside Leeuwarden last summer. Swedish flagged Grand Banks 42 CL that even appeared shortly in one of your videos. Remember? Anyway, I am doing the exact same trip you are about to do along the French and Spanish coast. No stabilizers, day trips. Currently in Normandie with the boat. Maybe we see each other again. Have a safe trip. Greetings M/Y Miss Monipenny
Yes I remember your big smile and wave (stepping out of the wheelhouse) when our paths crossed. (Is your boat an Albin or GB?) That's why I mentioned you in the previous video. You have no video's on your YT account, so is there a FB / Insta / tiktok account so I can follow you?

There are moments that I think about selling her, and going for a cat. Same stability and room, but... I love my Lady to much. I had a wish list of 33 points, and this vessel ticked almost all of them. Being able to handle her singlehanded was one of the boxes, and with the wheelhouse in front, it's very easy to handle. Most boats leave the skipper somewhere hidden whilst docking. Or on the fly. Both bad situation when I am asked. So good luck, with finding your soulmate.

Happy new year Hank. Here in South America, Brazil to be more precise, I thought there was a way to cross France from the North down to the Med via channels/rivers. Are you sure that cannot be done?

Besides the 3 after market stabs, I also looked into paravanes. BUT I also asked a couple of users of paravanes (when they published on FB or YT) and the lesson I learned from that, is that paravanes do help, but are a enormous hussle to get ready and get back on board (at sea never easy waters to retrieve when you want to go in a harbour) and the effect on stabilization is 'just' 30%. That's more then nothing, but since I am on my own, I have to take the retrieving part in account. For 'zero-speeds-stability' paravanes just with concrete buckets are enough, some one else told me.
You must have studied the French canal system when planning to head south, I assume you have a height restriction problem. I'm a bit confused by that because some of those large commercial barges that use the system look taller than "Lady Lisalot", Can you comment please? From your past videos, your experiences of being on the open sea in your "Lady" hasn't been all that good. Even if you hug the coast, you'll be in exposed waters most of the time. Wish I could be with you though, sounds like a dream trip. Happy sailing...

Laat je me iets weten. Thx. Grtje, Ruud.
I have seen beautiful video's of the rivers and canals of France but, with the mast down and full tanks, the height of Lady Liselot is 5.1m.
Gr. Berend

👍
Some seamen steam TO the Med.;some sailors steam TOWARD the Med,,tacking as they go. Either way seems sensible to me. SUNSHINE!
As long as we get there I am happy!
Happy new Year and good luck for 2025 !
Happy new year Hank. Here in South America, Brazil to be more precise, I thought there was a way to cross France from the North down to the Med via channels/rivers.
Are you sure that cannot be done?

Hi , am on ardent follower of the channel, why not go through the French Canals, or does the ship not fit somewhere?

@@LadyLiselot Bummer, in any case it will be exciting videos
Why not taking the route Rhein, Maas, Saône, Rhone ?

Okay… that makes sense
, height is an issue….do you know the RUclips channel of Motorboot Pastell?
How about paravanes? Would that work for you?

@@LadyLiselot That explains it. However, if the weather's OK the open sea route will be fun. Good luck, will be watching with interest.
Laat je me iets weten. Thx. Grtje, Ruud.
Hallo Ruud.
