I also plan to order the HB 2x12 vertical Creamback with a Marshall DSL20 head next week. Can I connect one cab at 8 Ohm to the second at 8 Ohm, using a speakercable from the 'through' output from one cab straight into the input of the other cab? That way I can use both cabs at the same time. Is that possible or does the 2nd cab have to be at a different impedance? I really hope you can answer this, I have searched the entire internet and beyond, but haven't found any useful information on this at all... Thanks in advance!
@@IAmWatcher 2x8 ohm cabs connected thay way will get down to 4 ohm, through is usually parallel. Question is, can the amp handle 4ohm as the minimum load? DSL seems to be made for 8-16 ohm, so use 1x8, 1x16 and 2x16, 2x8 will fry it. You could mod the through to serial, but the total of 16ohm will give you less volume. Don’t mix cab loads, especially if you can’t apply ohms law to calculate the total resistance, and even then there will be a volume difference between them. And always meassure the total resistance when linking cabs before connecting them to the amp. Take note that the new Plus series cabs are stereo and not through, but that can be changed with ease too.

Best thing is that the Plus series cabs are available unloaded too. That way the option to use ones favorite speakers in them is there without the need to sell what a loaded cab comes with.
That’s good to know. I get that HB has some kind of deal going on with Celestion to be able to offer cabs at these prices, but not all of us dig the Celestion mid-focused sound.
@@darwinsaye Yeah, plus some of us want lighter speakers in them cabs. Especially when rehearsal is at second floor and the stairs down are a pain when carrying stuff.
All gorgeous. For my ears best overall V30. Best clean V30. Best crunch V30/CB. Another REALLY interesting comparison is speakers wired in series or parallel. I am currently running an open back cab with a Celestion 12" G12L35 and 10" Jensen Alnico5 in series (4W amp) and it is killer! Sometimes you need to experiment.

I caught on Creamback 75 bug a few years ago. It was when no influencer mentioned this speaker. I scoured youtube for every demo of it. In the end, I bought Creamback 75 and paired with V30 to be used on Blackstar amp. The result was underwhelming. I wasn't happy with the tone. But I wasn't give up. Long story short, I currently play with amp sim all the time and the IR that I use are Creamback 75 + DV77 and Creamback 65 + Mesa V30. I can't get enough of Creamback haha.
Liked the video. Thank you for the time and effort put into presenting a thorough comparison. However the external ear of a human is directional and very much affects the sound received by the inner ear. I believe most people would agree that when we try to hear something we face it directly. Therefore, to get a more accurate listener experience, the dummy mic should face the cabinets. Doesn't seem like much, but I think it should make a pronounced difference in the final audio. Thanks again and keep up the good work.
What an incredibly hard choice. I love metal, and I also love super clean Dumble/Klon sound. Maybe the mix is the best solution? V30 is a no brainer for high gain only; great breakup.
It's hard to make much of the clean comparison, alternating across pickups and then across speakers. Neck/neck/neck then bridge/bridge/bridge would make things easier.

All amp test should be done with the binaural room mic. Great. Wish I could get a stereo IR (two mono) of this for bedroom practice with natural sound.

open or closed? I think that when 2 drivers share the same cabinet and have different acoustic output (stereo input or different drivers), then the back should be open! Otherwise the two drivers influence each other via the shared air volume (the air pressure).
Dude. I'm about to make the unlimited hack. Step one: I'm going to buy a positive grid spark, that way I can have any amp match that I could ever want and all my custom tones. Step two: I'm going to get a Harley Benton vertical cabinet and a Harley Benton GPA 100. Step 3: buy a second Beyond Tube PreAmp so I can have tubey compression goodness in a guitar pedal. Step 4: combine all the elements to make the worlds most jank yet versatile touring rig. It's cheap, powerful, loud, lightweight, I get all my custom Children of Bodom tones. I get all the marshall amps I have been able to amp match. Plug your GPA 100 into the spark with a quarter inch to aux. Boom. All the amps in the world in one loud ass tiny package. Come on guys, tell me I'm a genius! You know it'll work!
love to build my own cabs :) But its so important to have cabs like the Harley Benton Cabs - - good quality in a price range for everyone. I am a "Midrange" - Guy :D And there is a huge difference between Open/Closed -- so please test it next time :) (Btw...i am a huge fan of the Harley Benton cst 24 :) )

My ears the close Mic V30 was better for Clean and Dirty, when it went to the room mic, that's when I was like ooo, I enjoyed the Creamback/V30 for clean, then for dirty I enjoyed the Greenback more. Subtle differences, but in the end, it depends what style of Rock or Metal you're trying to achieve.
have You guys think of testing alnico celestion speakers? I´m really intrigued about the blue and cream againts vintage 30´s or the combination of vintage 30 + greenback. Thanks for this really cool video :D
Unfortunately the V30/Creamback combi version has a single input, no separate input for the drivers. The 2x12 Greenback and the 2x12 Creamback versions have the option of stereo input (as seen on photos on the Thomann website). B.t.w. the 2x12 vertical versions with Greenback or Creamback also have unfortunately a single input.
just checked: buying 2 1x12 cabinets, one with a V30 and the other with a Creamback costs only 9 Euro more than the combi. And then you have some flexibility, also with respect to placement (next to each other, on top of each other, different corners of the room, etc.). Hmm, interesting. impedances! I think that all 1x12 Harley Benton cabinets use 8 Ohm Celestion drivers, two of them in parallel gives 4 Ohm (watch out!). I also think that all the Harley Benton 2x12 cabinets uses two 16 Ohm drivers, that is a save 8 Ohm when using in parallel.

Question: I bought the sv20 combo and a 112 greenback cabin. Made a link cable from on speaker to the other. Both are 16ohm. Either speaker sounds good by it's own, but when I connect then on parallel they don't sound good at all. Am I doing something wrong?
@@mischapopischahey mate, I've been thinking of your advice lately. What you say is connecting the speakers in serial which ads their impedance. Just tried both of the cabs in the amps twin 8 ohm ports and I like the sound. Problem is that it's too loud without an attenuator.

Be very careful when you talk about V30 speakers in general. To my knowledge there are at least 3 VERY different versions of it. By different i mean they sound different (tested both in cabinet and without). One version even looks different . Btw. it´s poorly documented and not communicated at all by Celestion as far as i know.

@@RockGuitarVibes With both sold in a new cab, yes. One reason is that watts divided don’t match, so they would need to label it with a multiplier of the 2 GB’s, since if the don’t, some will feed more into it and wonder why the speakers blow.
The combo is actually genius. Two different speakers in one cabinet creates such a versatile and full sound.. I love it.

I agree with what G said bout the Cabs. V30+Creamback is a good choice, followed by Creambacks, with greenback being too muffled for Heavy Gain stuff.

I'm suprised how much I liked the good ol' V30s. Greenback I didn't like, way too scooped. V30+Creamback was very nice too.
Greenbacks aren't scooped in real life man, they are even more mid rangey than v30s but without the high end sizzle.

I like the mix: I use 2x12 with a CreamBack 65 and a G-12T75 Covers quite a lot of ground...!!

I might be strange but I like the v30 for cleans, sounds bright and rich. I don't like it for high gain, I find it way to mutty in the lows.

You could be out of phase. Changing the contacts at only one of the speakers could be the simple solution.

This combo would have a power rating of 120w, not 95. It’s the lower speaker multiplied x2, so 120w.

One reason is that watts divided don’t match, so they would need to label it with a multiplier of the 2 GB’s, since if the don’t, some will feed more into it and wonder why the speakers blow.
