    This is how people are meant to live. Not packed into cities like sardines. If you cant piss and shoot off both of your porches, then you are living too close to others.

    My brother owned a nice 4k sqft house and sold it a couple years ago. He now lives off grid on 20-something acres in western Utah, has a well, and a trailer with a solar array/battery. He's in a pretty decent trailer home while he builds his final home, and he just put in his septic system. Says it's the most rewarding thing he's done, but basically has little to no free time - there's always something to be done.

      yes, that's the truth, I don't live off grid per say, but heat with firewood here in upstate NY, don't have cable tv, grow a lot of my own food, and at 58 years old, I'm slowing down, this lifestyle takes a lot of time as I get older and slower.

    Very nice, the road will probably need a few "weeps" every hundred feet or so to drain water off the side so it won't washout. I built my own house, and put in a root cellar (love that for canned foods, root crop storage, etc.),, so plan on building some type of root cellar (in ground, in side of mountain, etc) . Salvage the water off the roof, or dam up a creek, I lived without a well for several years by using the creek by my house (used the pick up truck and plastic barrels to get drinking water from a nearby spring for free). I would definitely get some hens for fresh eggs, maybe a goat or two for milk, they don't eat much, you only need a few. I actually used a composting toilet for several years before I got a septic system, they work great. Hopefully that helps Chris, have a safe an awesomeness week.

    As someone from the Springs, I've often "eye plotted" the range that you normally use, (Justin's, I guess), as being over 'thataway' a tad. I'm glad that you've gotten out of "civilization" and into the woods. This post has succeeded in making you much more human to me. Your presence as a family man grounds you within the realm of my understanding in a far greater fashion than the gun tuber of yore. Just as a word of advice, the closer you get to finishing, the easier it is to become impatient. Have faith in yourself.

    Congrats on your new place. Make sure that your place is "wildfire safe", that is, enough distance between the forest and the house. Here, the fire prevention people say a MINIMUM of 30 feet between the house and trees. If possible, I'd go with 100 feet. Remember, fire usually burns uphill...unless it's wind-driven. Looking forward to your vids on going off grid.

    I know a bit about batteries. Years of RC. Best to go biggest deep cycle 1.2x10 to get 12, or 1.2x20 get 24. Then run inverter.
    The bigger the battery and smaller the voltage the longer it will last, and the more stable C/D will be.

    Насколько все-таки разные наши культуры. У нас пробурить скважину 10$ за 1 метр. Не надо разрешение и прочее. Электроэнергия стоит очень по разному, иногда, дешевле автономное солнечное, иногда можно бесплатно подключить центральное электроснабжение. В любом случае, мечты о хорошем СВОЕМ доме (не в кредит, а в собственность) эти мечты интернациональны. Ты приехал домой с работы, включил приятную музыку, сел у окна и наблюдаешь природу, а не соседских детей, которые дразнят твою собаку. • @adamtheninjasmith2985
    @adamtheninjasmith2985 7 месяцев назад

    I know it's expensive and apparently there is a long wait in your area but a well would be high up on my long term priority list. Trucking in water is going to be expensive in the long run and in a shtf scenario water is high up in the priorities if not the top. Also look at wind generators too. The more redundancy you have the better (I know also expensive). Other than that I only ask how much good timber (if any) do you have available? That can be a source of income or a money saver. I was just talking to my mom about how I don't want to buy a house, I want to buy enough property with enough timber to drag a mobile home and a sawmill onto it and build my own house etc... I also don't want to be completely off grid. I still want electricity but I want the option to not use it if I don't have to or it's not available. Solar panels don't last forever, they actually degrade quicker than you'd think and when they wear out or break they can't be fixed they have to be replaced. Generators of any kind wear out and also have to be replaced or majorly overhauled not to mention the batteries. I'd rather keep that stuff tucked away and safe for when I need it. Granted you have to fire some stuff up and use it and condition it and whatnot but it'll last longer properly stored and cared for than in constant use. From your situation of being off the grid completely I would be looking at cost and longevity of your power sources and storages as well as redundancies. People might laugh but I'd like a large bank of lead acid batteries and backups for worst case scenario situation. Not the best solution but they can be stored dry basically indefinitely and the acid can too.

    Ya know you have an awesome channel and I really do want to see it disappear but I think you are missing a huge opportunity this this project/new style of living. There are hige amounts of off grid channels out there 1 I watch is called Lumnia Acres he is on his second off grid property and does a lot of his own work... lots of useful info in his videoes like his off grid systems and all kinds of stuff tou might be interested in down the road. Also look at what his video's consist off.
    As far as your newer batteries Jerry Rig Everything did a build with those eco flo's his wasn't as intense as yours should be but manybe there is something there that will help ya....
    Maybe start a second channel and see how many subscribers will follow you on your every day building as you are in a totally different type of building process.
    Keep up the good work
