    I would love for VA to have an education voucher system! #schoolchoice

      Yeah I wish the voucher system was more openly accepted. Having been a public school teacher I do think most public school teachers aren't worth the amount of money they get paid. And they're always constantly complaining they don't get paid enough.

      @@Chygoda955 I would say they don't get paid enough. My cousin who is a teacher outside of Atlanta is expected to deal with kids with behavioral issues even though that is not what she is trained in.

      @@grizzledmillennial4765 I don't know your cousin, so I can't say but I taught at a title 1 school and the teachers there don't deserve what they got paid. Most teachers I know don't unfortunately. While outlier teacher exist and deserve better pay most of the teachers I would with were lazy, complained about everything including the kids. If they hate kids so much go find a different job. Voucher systems would allow people to pick where they get to send there kids and well would force teachers to up there game otherwise they would have no job because only the best would stay and the chaff will fall away.

      @@Chygoda955 My best friend teaches at a title one school, he has had students that he has tried to help be murdered outside of school for various reasons. Within in his school there are a lot of people that care. So your anecdotal experience is yours and his is his. I am pretty sure he would agree with some of your criticisms of teachers. I watch him struggle to help kids within a vary limiting and restrictive system. I believe he is under paid for what he does. There teachers buying clothes for students, materials and even housing sometimes. With THEIR OWN MONEY. That may not be YOUR experience but I know more than one teach who has. Are voucher systems accountable to tax payers? NO. What system has been laid out so that ALL parents get vouchers? So far the data is showing that most recipients are from well to do families, were being home schooled or already enrolled in private schools. How is this equal for everyone? This is info coming out of Arizona and Iowa. Also it is looking like vouchers cost MORE per student than public schools. If the conversation about schools and vouchers was more about the quality of education and less about "my kid is learning gay stuff" or "learning about slavery is hurting my kids feelings" then maybe we would be having a decent discussion. Hell the guys on this podcast often get basic history wrong so how am I to believe their claims on the quality of education that they claim their kids are getting? I think anecdotally all of us can remember teachers that sucked and teachers that really inspired us. To act like this is a new phenomenon is absurd. Lets look at HOW schools are actually funded here in the united states, let's look at some of the possible systemic failures from the beginning and go from there. Right now we are complaining that a pie taste and instead wondering what is in the ingredients we are looking to change ovens.

    That people let's be clear there is one other note I want to point out nowhere in the Constitution is there a statement of separation church and state that phrase only comes up in a letter written by Thomas Jefferson to one or two people I know one of the people he wrote it to is his wife. The context was very important he was saying that the government should have force people to believe in Jesus Christ however during I don't remember which continental Congress the majority of the founding fathers all agreed that the Bible should be used as a foundation for morality in this country and that is very clearly documented.

    • @grizzledmillennial4765
      @grizzledmillennial4765 6 месяцев назад

      Even the deist founding fathers of them there was more than just Jefferson? Have you ever taken a peak at Jefferson's Bible?

    • @Chygoda955
      @Chygoda955 6 месяцев назад

      @@grizzledmillennial4765 Yes I have looked at the Jefferson Bible it has removed every miracle. It does not however change the morality of the Bible. And yes Benjamin Franklin was a deist and several others were I believe John Hancock was also a deist. Again I will try to find the exact Continental Congress that it came from but it was an open agreement that the morality of the Bible was acceptable. Family Fathers were never for forcing someone to be a Christian, but again none of them disputed the morality of the Bible being a good standard.

      @@Chygoda955 Oh I am no way saying the bible has no influence on our constitution but you are right our founding fathers were never about forcing anyone to be Christian. Although one could say that they did argue the morality of the bible when it came to slavery. Jefferson had to remove somethings out of the initial draft. Furthermore he was often trying to justify to his french friends how the US could proclaim to be moral and just, yet have slavery.

    Ok I know i said lastly, but i forgot, at minute 23 i think Tim is his name says that if you have parent involvement it doesn't matter where you go to school. Which is complete nonsense. My child had to fight on the bus because of the color of her skin and i am very involved in her education. Trust me it matter where they go to school. This the shit I'm talking about when i say you guys don't know what you are talking about.

  • @Chygoda955
    @Chygoda955 6 месяцев назад

    I don't know your names but dude in the white room with a beard I would say the average teacher does say you can't evaluate how a teacher doesn't the classroom. Having just left teaching for 9 years I think that is a complete BS stance to take because I think I myself could be very clearly evaluated as a teacher versus what I'm doing and what part my students are choosing to or not to do. One of those evaluations I would say not to brag but I start a robotics program out of school where they had nothing and in 4 years we turn that program into a million dollar program and the students going from never doing robotics placed 6th in the world out of 16,000 teams that a competition I would say that is a fair assessment of hey this is what I can do for students as long as the students are willing to engage. And also I would like to point out there are two schools systems that are still using curriculum I developed I have nothing more than a bachelor's degree in animation yet I was teaching robotics and engineering and these things because no one else was. The thing that's sickens me about most teachers really in the public school system which I come out of is they're there because job security not because of the kids not because anything else they know that they won't get fired because good valuable teachers are not going in because most of those teachers don't feel like they're valued as an individual. But I think there's this push for leniency on teachers when that is like one of the most important jobs as a society people have and the people who should be teaching need to be of impeccable character from biblical's perspective teachers it says will be judge harsher. Yeah I totally agree with you guys The system is currently soft but I don't think the answer is for us Christians to retreat but maybe for Christians to go and take back what was stolen and that is children's minds. you know I didn't have to preach about Jesus in my classroom for my students to understand I love them and I cared about them and I wanted them to do better. Their parents knew I care about their kids and I want nothing but the best for their kids they can see through the facades most parents just want people who genuinely are there to help advance their children and I think we need more Christians willing to step out to be able to be those teachers and I think it would have a great impact on public schools. I do apologize for the rambling I just hit this point in the video and it spark something so love you guys.

    I am not a christian, but saying that I will go to hell doesn't offend me at all. I am pretty sure there are plenty of religions on this planet where I am not following the rules. One of the main reasons I watch is because I am genuinely curious as to how some Evangelicals think. So far what has been most frustrating watching you guys is often your lack of knowledge on topics and the lack of nuance when discussing things. Now you guys may joke about being 4 white men speaking on a topic you shouldn't, but here is thing if you knew more about the topics no one would care. The small disagreements that you all have are often very very small. So small that I find it amusing that anyone would think you all don't get along. What kind of egg shell worlds are people living in? There was an opportunity here to discuss the history and structure of public school funding and how it has effected poor and people of color in how it was structured, and how that very structure has helped create some of the poor results we see today. But NOPE, you guys just keeping missing it. Or how about mentioning how during desegregation some localities simply closed rather than integrate. The state I live in now(Virginia) was notorious for this practice. It is like complaining about how so many roadways are dangerous and not the engineer that keeps designing them. Look up Lynchburg Christian Academy and its history. Nicks food comparison was weak considering that soo many people on food stamps live in food deserts. Again I am still trying my best to listen through and truly understand where you all are coming from but before I can disagree from a non christian point of view, I just have to shake my head at the lack on knowledge and nuance on many of the topics you all discuss outside of church. And it is smothered sometimes in hubris and cynicism. Also the focus is soooo much so on culture exposure with some focus on quality of education but what happens when science and the church clashes? Why mentioned the homogeny of European countries but not mention how in most of the countries all public schools are funded equally not based as much as zip codes? Do any of you know any half smart non christians that could question or even push back on / challenge your views? Because it often looks like a circle jerk. This wasn't as bad as the last episode but yall boys still nasty. Lastly project 25 has a lot more in it that I find troublesome but perhaps that is a different topic all together.

      All right first I know you and I disagree thoroughly on a lot of things but I do appreciate your post here I think your commentary here is very important for people to understand. There is nuance they say it doesn't matter with parent involvement I've been at a school teaching where I didn't need parents involved because I gave everything I had for my students. What makes it a blessing is when I have parents involved as well because together we can push students further. My goal as a teacher was always to make my students better than me. Unfortunately the school I last taught at they were roughly 70 teachers and hate to say it but 65 of them should have been fired. The unfortunate thing about the current school system is we reward mediocrity when it comes to teachers. We don't push for the strongest teachers to be in the classroom they want to push agendas and push these ideologies on kids how about we just teach him math how about we just teach them English how about we teach them signs history we don't need a push our personal agendas on people. For crying out loud I taught engineering why do I have to have an emotional feel good message of the day about whatever agenda my principal wanted to push. And I agree with you the whole food stamp thing cuz I've been there I'm a white boy but I've been there and I would agree they're analogy there was week. I do appreciate your commentary because it's necessary for change to have proper discourse because no one's going to know what you feel or how to actually talk to people if someone from the other side doesn't bring that conversation to light. Again I know you and I have disagreed on multiple posts and I am probably never going to be able to change your mind on stuff but I will say this You're the first person to be offended by someone saying non-Christians are going to hell. I appreciate you I pray God helps your daughter because it is not right that she has to fight on the bus going to school or just terrible and there needs to be some grown ups who take charge and stop that crap from happening but really unfortunately the public school system is lost its backbone. Seriously I wish you nothing but the best God bless

      @@Chygoda955 I have an ex that is a Principle in New York City, my cousin is a teacher outside of Atlanta and my best friend is a teacher at a really rough school in Virginia, now there are some similarities when it comes to administration and some differences. I can agree that there are some useless teachers. But in the same breath there are some overworked and burnt out teachers. I think that in all jobs there is a degree of administrative nonsense. It can really burn people out. I am sorry if I misspoke but what I said was that I was NOT offended by them saying I was going to hell. I am not sure if the school system has lost its backbone per say but it has lost something and I think they are still trying to figure it out. My daughter was 8 when that happened and we live in a gated community with plenty of people that "claim" to go to church. Now we drive her to school everyday. We are fortunate to be able to do that and not everyone is.

      @@grizzledmillennial4765 no I had a typo. I was meaning your the first to not be offended when a Christian say if you don't believe you are going to hell. I am sorry those who say they are "Christian" are not walking in love like Christ. While I will never condone sin, I also am not the judge of those who do. The only place I have been told I can judge is those within the body of Christ itself. Those who profess Christ yet go against his teachings should be rebuked. Those outside of the church need to see love and well I pray they see Christ in my actions and then they ask why I am the way I am and then I can speak to them about what God has done for me. I am glad your daughter is free from that and you are able to do that for her. Thank you again for engage with me in hospitable manner
