I own this Motorcycle, and it's been a one year or so there are no issues at all. I can easily cruise on highway and ride in Hubli city with this, it's a value for money motorcycle. As mentioned this machine misses 6th gear and ABS which would be added advantage to it. A good video Strell ...
A sixth gear, ABS and slightly better instrument console will seal the deal. Everything else is perfect 👌. No need to change. Ooh and I will prefer red colour, it looks sexy. 😁😁
This is pretty much a relevant bike for it's segment. Offers decent performance in terms of city riding and it can handle medium highway duties (6th gear would've helped alot). Having a big 700-1000cc bike in the garage...this bike can be one of the best second bikes with class leading fuel efficiency figures and decent performance...ABS would've sealed the deal though.
For those of you who are considering to buy the Fz 25, here are the cons from a user perspective. 1. Headlight is not that bright and its high beam throw is useless. 2. Mirrors vibrate after 6000 rpm so you can't see anything that's coming from the back. 3. Engine sound: There is a rattling sound from the engine when it heats up. It is very annoying as it can't be fixed.The heat is manageable and not that much even though its oil cooled. 4. Front suspension is too soft and always dives in, not confidence inspiring on corners or under hard braking but that can be fixed with 20w fork oil. 5. Mud guards are absolutely useless both the front and rear. Even the tyre hugger does not do it jobs and ends up splashing water. 6. Vibrations: There is some amount of vibrations on the handlebar and foot pegs. The motor isn't smooth but is torquey, good for city riding.
Thanks for sharing your experience. I have an opinion about point 4. If you are feeling the suspension to be too soft, may be your fork oil could be less than the suggested level. Or if its correct, you could have a little bit more to make the suspension hard. Cheers.
I own an FZ25 and talking about point 3, there is a way to reduce the rattling sound, just warm up the engine before you ride the bike, or ride the bike at 3000-4000 rpm for about 5-10 mins, and then you could rev up and trust me the noise is much lower.
Engine rattling sound when it heats up might be because of valve adjustment issues. Find a good mechanic and i guess it can be fixed.Also check your air/fuel ratio.
Looks like a fun little bike with some interesting features. Hard to believe a bike in this class actually has an oil cooler and the center stand is a nice touch. Just looking at the ergos I suspect it would fit my 6'1" frame much better than the R3. Shame we'll never see it offered here in the US, but if Kawasaki's Ninja 400 does well here this year I can always hope for an FZ400 at some point.
This motorcycle might be under powered for your riding conditions. May be thats one reason why Yamaha is not concentrating on small segment in US. Btw how has the Ninja 400 priced in US. Its ridiculous here in India. Almost near to its 650 siblings.
I've always liked the FZ line's styling a lot more than the MT's.. I remember being stopped dead in my tracks when I saw a parked Fazer for the first time many years ago.
I think there's probably already too much competition in the segment over here already and Yamaha wouldn't want to undercut it's good R3 sales. The Ninja 400 is priced exactly the same as last year's Ninja 300 here. $4996 USD (336533 Rupiees). I hear it's a lot more expensive than that in India.
If it did have a 6th gear, it could not have had that fat torque down the rev . And you are absolutely true about going for the fz25 over dominar if city riding is the mostly your priority.
Strell macha.. Njn parayate.. Fz25 is a ? Refined, comfortable, efficient, friendly, cheaper and reliable alternative to KTM Duke200! And in that way its a solid Japanese product. Do note: even without a 6th gear, it does 100kmph in quite lower rpm compared to duke200.

True..........the Duke 250 is one of my most favourite motorcycle......but the most important thing I find missing in it is the ABS and better brakes...... I wish KTM brings an updated 250 with ABS n the market

Mohammed Khalid RTR200 ABS as its 13K cheaper than the FZ25.. The FZ has much faster Acceleration but RTR has better Ride n Handling.. RTR is also much safer with dual channel ABS n Slipper clutch..
Strell motor beam has done a drag race with cbr250r and fazer25 it is shown that fazer has more acceleration and cbr has more top speed so I thought i would ask to the rightful owner.
RTR has more package now. Like ABS and slipper clutch. I will suggest to stick to ABS version any day. Maintenance cost will be bit high for RTR when compared to NS. Rest things will be same.
Not a day n age to choose non ABS versions.. All future bikes will have mandatory ABS n you will repent for not buying it.. Overall choice is RTR200 ABS..

Hi Strell, Fantastic video as everytime. Can you help me around to decide between Yamaha Fz25 2018 model and Duke 250 2018 model both non-abs. My first purpose is daily city commute to office with a round trip of around 60kms. What I saw with Fz25 is its quality. The bike is only used 1500 kms and the engine colour coating has already started to come off. On the other hand duke feels premium. The price difference is only 20k for me as I am going for used ones very less clocked. Please help me to decide.
If only it has slightly more power and ABS , it would have been in my parking by now. Just hoping for Yamaha to upgrade this . Probably by end of year, otherwise I would have to look towards other machines

Am in the same dilemma.... I can manage without the 6th gear but ABS is an absolute must for me. Seriously, "NO ABS" even as a F****** OPTION. I mean come on even Hero has ABS now. Shashank Raj RTR200.. The NS200 n RTR200 ABS versions cost same on road.. You get dual channel ABS n Slipper clutch on the RTR for that money, so it's more value for money.. RTR has better quality, more smoother, more driveable in city, better ride quality, more safety.. The NS is faster outright, better highway machine that's all.. FZ25 is much costlier than the above 2.. All it has faster Acceleration than both the above.. It has better quality levels than the NS but equal to RTR.. Smoother than the NS but equal to RTR.. More driveable in city than NS but equal to RTR.. That's it.. Overall RTR 200 Race Edition 2.0 ABS scores more than the other 2..

For a rider, that's debatable. CBR is good for someone like me, who like sports riding. Otherwise fz. But pillion seat us much comfortable on cbr.

Strell motor beam has done a drag race with cbr250r and fazer25 it is shown that fazer has more acceleration and cbr has more top speed so I thought i would ask to the rightful owner.
Dont buy honda selling out old model In Indian market boycott them..i was waiting for honda cbr250 RR

RTR has more package now. Like ABS and slipper clutch. I will suggest to stick to ABS version any day. Maintenance cost will be bit high for RTR when compared to NS. Rest things will be same.
Not a day n age to choose non ABS versions.. All future bikes will have mandatory ABS n you will repent for not buying it.. Overall choice is RTR200 ABS..
Cruising through my area you are, mekhri, Hebbal fly over, towards manyata but instead after review took a U turn at the underpass near Marriott courtyard & back towards the hebbal flyover going to mekhri circle, good..!!!

FZ25 is value for money, any day. Consider CBR if you have big touring plans, with high cruise speeds.

Hi Strell, Fantastic video as everytime. Can you help me around to decide between Yamaha Fz25 2018 model and Duke 250 2018 model both non-abs. My first purpose is daily city commute to office with a round trip of around 60kms. What I saw with Fz25 is its quality. The bike is only used 1500 kms and the engine colour coating has already started to come off. On the other hand duke feels premium. The price difference is only 20k for me as I am going for used ones very less clocked. Please help me to decide.
If only it has slightly more power and ABS , it would have been in my parking by now. Just hoping for Yamaha to upgrade this . Probably by end of year, otherwise I would have to look towards other machines

Strell..I am in a dilemma..Could you pls tell me if I can go for Fz 25.. My needs:
Moderate touring and city rides
1.5 lakh price range
Avg fuel efficiency of 35-40kmpl
Everything looks fair with the fz 25.. But lack of abs and 6th gear.. That's the only confusion.. Is it better to wait for the abs version or go for w/o abs..or go for some other bike..ur opinion would b really helpful..
Abs version will launch in 2019 as govt had made it complusary...wait a little for it
Am in the same dilemma.... I can manage without the 6th gear but ABS is an absolute must for me. Seriously, "NO ABS" even as a F****** OPTION. I mean come on even Hero has ABS now. The guy who decided this at Yamaha needs to get fired and a back slap across his face.. and if they pull the single channel S**T on this bike then they need a kick in the ar$e as well.

Shashank Raj RTR200.. The NS200 n RTR200 ABS versions cost same on road.. You get dual channel ABS n Slipper clutch on the RTR for that money, so it's more value for money.. RTR has better quality, more smoother, more driveable in city, better ride quality, more safety.. The NS is faster outright, better highway machine that's all..
FZ25 is much costlier than the above 2.. All it has faster Acceleration than both the above.. It has better quality levels than the NS but equal to RTR.. Smoother than the NS but equal to RTR.. More driveable in city than NS but equal to RTR.. That's it..
Overall RTR 200 Race Edition 2.0 ABS scores more than the other 2..

@@iamstrell we are really waiting for new fz 25 abs version test and 100-0 braking test as well will it tour with 100 to 120 without stress on engine and what will be ideal mileage on that speed bcoz if it gives 22 to 25 mileage on that speed will dominar a good option .please waiting for your review to get answer on all this parameters.

There are rumors that an ABS version might launch. But not sure about colors. Hope they bring some colors variants then. As of now, only these 3 colors are available.
