Excellent way to level up the cantena! I had tested some 5db 5.8ghz omnis (typical design of a coil between a ground tube and the signal element in the rubber ducky antenna) and they perform really well for FPV. I should put them in little green tea leaves cans to make 5.8g cantenas for digital FPV, where circular polarization has no significant advantage in its AFDM.

I think the Cisco element get too close to the near field coupling range and is soak up by the can. I agree a larger can possibly the calculated near field limit may provide the right diameter.

You've said 82-86mm diameter was the ballpark as diameter for the cantenna, but this sleeve monopole gets to 82mm high. What should be modded, the diameter of the cantenna or the sleeve monopole lenth?

a while back you experimented with different spacings of the driven element from the back of the cantenna. Can you give us an update from the original list you used a couple of years back. I have a supply of instant coffee tins 97mm D x 210mm L. I would like to try building 2.4 and 5ghz cantennas using the sleeve design. Also, what do you think the optimum length of the can would be if using this as the feed horn for a satellite dish?

I was just wondering what was better, yagi or monopole and asked on another video then stumbled on this video. My monopole that I created just today for the toilet brush cantenna uses one rp sma to sma converter with a 1mm diameter cut down to 31.5mm sewing needle one end and my small usb wifi card attached to the rp sma end and it seems to work ok. It's not glued in/soldered in permanently yet and seeing this now I may have to look into the better monopole or perhaps try a 3d printed version of the pcb yagi. Happy new year btw!
When the hertzian dipole doesn’t work inside a waveguide. Blade antenna with aerosol can parabola also cannot work ? Because it also changes the hertzian bipole balun characteristics ??
