    THIS is what I was wanting to do from the get go!!
    WOW not only did it turn out, it has remained moist and the texture of real bread for many more days than in the conventional oven.
    PS: We purchased it to try it out fully intending to send it back if it did not bake bread. But it does what it claims and MORE...so we decided to carry it as the ONLY Solar Oven we recommend.

    I am 70+ and have made my own sun ovens over the years and they worked fine, but looked funky, so you remember those stimulus checks?
    Uh-huh . . . BOUGHT me an All American Sun Oven.
    We're cookin' with grease now!
    That's Texan for "doin' really good".
    Thanks for the fun video.

    We are also a homeschooling family, 3 generations now. And I like how you explain and show things, like the clouds which tells people that the sky need NOT be 100% clear. Even in the Sierras, Rockies (real mountains) in the winter as long as its sunny even with snow on the ground we can use the solar oven.

    These ovens are the Best. When you cook a lot, and during summer? I use it and it makes for a so much cooler house!! AC on and using regular oven which heats your house up? No more of that!!!

    I own a Sun Oven and absolutely love it. Made rice, beans, cake, cookies, boiled water. I've also made nachos! My friend (r.i.p.) used to make roasts and soups in his. The food tastes so much better; I say it tastes "gentler."

    • @MillersGrainHouse-DonnaMiller
      @MillersGrainHouse-DonnaMiller  10 лет назад +1

      "Gentler" - that sounds like the perfect word! I always tell folks that it's like my grown up Easy Bake Oven (: It's almost more fun than it is cooking. Thanks for the comment!

      food taste's better because you have to go to a bit extra trouble to buy a solar cooker and want to cook with it, taste is the same as cooking in a wood fired oven as it is not fake energy!!

    Thanks for passing these on. It is my hope they will inspire others to try to do some things like this. Truly if *I* can do this kind of stuff ANYONE can!
    Tomorrow it's pinto beans and cornbread in the solar oven! We shall see how it goes!! (o:

    ....You may also be right in that the rays 'treat' the food this way due to it being a natural way of cooking. All I know is the texture usually changes over a couple of days on my oven baked fresh milled whole wheat and this one has remained the same texture and softness as day one.
    Talk about some happy folks! Free energy and better bread! I'm so stoked!
    I have to tell you a secret...I get to sell a special pack of these soon...email me privately and I'll clue you in.

    @MotherLodeBeth ~ Yep. The only place it cannot be used is in Alaska in those long 24hr dark days! Cool! Three gens of homeschooling! Love it!
    Yes, we live in the 'baby mountains' of NC...nothing to compare with your mountains! I love the west! And you're right, snow is not a road block to solar cooking....just focus the rays right IN and you can really cook! Winters are clearer here sometimes so I'm looking forward to cooking in the cold! (o:
    Be blessed!

    I am now re-thinking my appliances in my kitchen, lol. I am going to forward this to some geeky friends of mine and see if they have an explanation for this. Cool stuff. I'm sold on it. I have too many other small appliances in my kitchen that just "eat electricity", and besides, I want to put this thing through its paces. Maybe it makes toast, too?? Yummy thought...even later in the day when sun allows!

  • @MillersGrainHouse-DonnaMiller
    @MillersGrainHouse-DonnaMiller  13 лет назад +1

    @lsmith254 ~ Yes that is what I am saying. Here's my theory. When I interviewed the Global Sun Oven Pres. on my radio show he talked about how what it does is bring food to the temp inside the cooking chamber...not radiate the heat from top or bottom - but from all around (like a convection oven without the fan) and it would NOT burn...simply meet the temp of the air in the box. So....I think that THAT WAY of cooking the bread made the texture stay better and last longer. (more).....

    Seriously considering getting one of these solar ovens. I looked at reviews online and some people say that food cooked without a lid picks up a plastic-like smell from the cooking chamber. Have you encountered anything like that?

    • @MillersGrainHouse-DonnaMiller

      Depending upon if it stays sunny, if it begins to cloud or darken, you'd get condensation and then the crust would get moist.

    So, are you saying the bread lasted longer than it would have had it been cooked in a regular oven? I wonder why this could be, possibly you are onto something here...I have read how microwaves change the nutritive value of food. Perhaps the sun's rays (unseen by the eyes) do not kill beneficial nutrients. You may have just reinvented the bread "wheel"!! I am saving for one of these Starting Right Now! I had seen them advertised before, but the price was a bit high for yet another "appliance"
