That is a great sound coming from that set up Edward. Back in the mid eighties I had a similar vertical Sharp that also had a built in amp, radio and cassette player and speakers. It worked really well and was surprisingly good sounding.
That is a very neat turntable. Quite good sound from the setup, too.
That's a Nice Record Deck. And Rare I Bet.. It's nice that you are Rescuing this stuff and keeping them going. I owned a Mitsubishi X7 Vertical Stereo years ago, Loved it, sounds wasn't crazy loud but it was nice enough. i also owned a couple of Sharp Vz3000, and a Few Vz2000s. i collect 80s Boomboxes, i have a Lot of Videos on My Channel of my Collection.
From an engineering standpoint, Mitsubishi was simply brilliant. I truly lament their departure from hifi excellence. Now just imagine for a moment, Edward, what that table would be like, stripped completely of all that lexan, and plastic: visualize a body of solid T6061 aluminum and in the case of that clear lexan, thick, BEVELED tempered Pilkington Glass. And now an AVID-style diamond turned platter, and one of Dynavector’s finest tonearms featuring Audio-Technica’s finest mm cartridge, wired with Nordost’s fined gold cables… I don’t care whose lottery I’d have to win, but I’m quite certain if enough cash were presented, Ol’ Mitsu would be more than glad to construct our little (commissioned) one-off museum piece!
Just a thought… I’ve loved those designs ever since they first appeared in the 1980s.
(Now imagine commissioning Sudgen building that amp, and ProAc, those speakers!
I have had a few audio "bits" from Mitsubishi over the years and they always impressed me in the quality, I hung on to this turntable as it just sounded so wonderful!
….and indeed, you made a very wise decision.
