Luke Edmonds May he Rest In Peace, it seems like he gave a lot of his life/time into trying to help others.... I’m sure he was a very brave man and I’m glad this video is here to show people how important this issue is.
I'm very sorry man, I hope all his hard work allowed him to bring peace to the death girl's families, and at least make consciousness about this horrible problem
Unfortunately, the comments here reflect the same mentality that is brought up in this video. Simply because many of these women led lives of desperation, doesn't devalue them. Also, the jokes are inappropriate. Apparently, people who haven't experienced any tragedy in their lives think they're immune from losing a loved one to violence. I suggest coming back down to earth and realizing that, fundamentally, no one is special.
Justin Hopkins I haven’t seen a lot of comments other than people calling racism. It is horrible! I pray that some new, outside group could be allowed to investigate
Is there a way of contacting this private investigator? My mother has been a missing person since 1993. Finally put on record in 2003. I was just a little girl when she disappeared. She left 2 children and 5 siblings and a mother behind. She, too, was living a "rough" lifestyle. We thought she may be involved in the Robert Picton case, however, I don't believe this to be true. Of course, nothing has ever been done about this. I was separated from my, only, sibling from this and only recently met my sibling. I have spent majority of my adulthood seeking answers. Zero closure, no body... I need someone on my side to finally help me find that closure.
men like Ray inspire me to be man hunters, it takes some serious balls to look into unsolved murders and poke around, possibly stepping on the killers toes.
It takes more education, interviewing skills, critical reasoning and problem solving skills plus ultimately very solid writing skills among numerous others in order to successfully investigate homicide. Let me briefly summarize my path to making homicide detective, but keep in mind, most folks don't get there as quickly as I did, but they didn't do the extra work like volunteering. I served in the Marines, went to college and obtained a bachelor's degree, during which time I performed plenty of community and volunteer service and studied under a professor who specializes in forensic science. I served as a student intern in a crime lab, in a jail, and in a sheriff's department patrol division before I was sworn in as a reserve officer. I attended and graduated from a reserve police academy, then a regular police academy, and over the next few years was a patrolman. I never said no to any case rather than forward it to detectives, insisted on writing my own search warrants, performing my own follow-up investigations, suspect interviews and interrogation. I worked plenty of overtime, worked my days off, and often worked both for free. I wanted the knowledge and experience rather than the money. Ultimately, I put in for the position and was promoted over a bunch of guys who were there decades before I was but never went to college or did anything to indicate a strong desire to do the job. Rather than ten to twelve years of working and waiting it took me about two and a half years to get the gold badge. It was the hardest job I've ever had, but the coolest, most fun, scary, exciting, often dull and slow, thankless, but fulfilling career I think one could ask for. If I could go back to the beginning of my career and do something else I think perhaps I would try and get a tour on motors (motorcycle AKA traffic enforcement) or go to K9s and work only at night with the dog. Obviously I offered more than some are willing to read, but if that's the case, obviously I didn't write this for those people. Today it is more important than ever to get as much education as you can before entering law enforcement. An English degree with plenty of foreign language folded in is ideal. The current trend in any case is towards a minimum of an associate's degree.
To all my fellow first nations people in Canada, may the families of those women one day find the answers and comfort they are looking for. From an Aboriginal Australian.
You are not Australian Aboriginal and these First Nations people are really Siberian’s who the USA government reclassified as the First Nations all the while they were enslaving the dark skin copper colored Indians of the Western Hemisphere
+renan giroux remember the whole pickton farm? this is probably related to some extent... aka cops are involved.... why police don't want to dig too deep is my guess... how ever Ray is one of the good guys. good on him, this is what a hero cops really looks like.
my heart aches thinking about all these women, their poor lost souls, my condolences go out to their families and friends. i hope they get their justice
They will get justice the day the RCMP and all Canadians do our duty. Today is Canada day and Canada needs to get it right. I am a white female Canadian and these murdered and missing sisters deserve the best our police forces can do to find them. This and the school scandal hang heavily over our Canadian heads today. 🇨🇦😔
In all honesty I've driven this road many times and when you're passing through the tiny little communities you realize the desperation and hope for something else that drives these hitchhikers.
My grandparents own a camp directly on the highway of tears. I was just there this past summer and I noticed an aboriginal girl hitch hiking by herself which was a bit startling due to the fact that there were signs EVERYWHERE saying it was extremely dangerous to do so. Scary what people will do sometimes
Hello Aemelia. By your name & reply it reveals "3 years ago." Have surveillance traffic cameras been installed then or after that 3 years ago? Hitchhikers in a stretch of highway are desperate to get to their destination which makes them easy prey for the hunters of humans. When an individual is desperate they are not thinking with a clear mind. And if the person hitchhiking is sedated it makes them more vulnerable to the predator.
I live in the 🇺🇸 and I have known about the highway for atleast 15 years now. But I saw a documentary about a girl who lived close to the highway and was also killed and left there. The family had never heard of the cases or the Name high way of tears. I found that strange when there are tons of signs and i know about it.
I knew Roxanne Thiara. She was about the age of my littlest sister. She lived with her mom a block away from us in Quesnel as I was growing up. My mom still talks with her mother. She hangs on each little update about her daughter's case just like the families interviewed in this piece. I can't even imagine what it would be like to lose one of my siblings or my child this way. No matter the circumstances. Such a sad story. Someday those responsible, in this life or the next, will be held accountable for their actions.
I was born and raised in Terrace B.C., and went to school with Lana Derrick. She was an amazing person with a beautiful soul, I was very sad to hear of her passing. My heart goes out to her and her friends and family. We can't trust the police to find these killers it would be next to impossible, just know that justice will come to them in the end, may they be eternally tortured in hell.
I know a couple who moved from England to Prince Rupert, BC in 1975. The lady particularly remembered getting a bad vibe from the highway they drove to get there and a fearsome river that ran alongside it the likes of which they’d never seen back home. They didn’t know it at the time but this was the Highway of Tears.
I''m always suspicious of police when they won't do interviews especially when a lot of these cases are old and could do with extra exposure! Is it because people in power are involved in the murders? Are the police inept or just don't care about aboriginal women? What ever it is they should be doing more!
SuperGooner75 you could be right. Especially concerning the younger girls. I wouldn’t doubt it if there is a cover up happening, to protect the interests of some higher ups who are involved.
@Zerro Fox but consider that this cases have been going on for more than 40 years. E-PANA (the special unit created to investigate this dissapearances) began working in 2005, it's been 13 years and they haven't solved anything, not to mention that they stopped searching at least since 2015. Man, this is pretty weird
@@let_your_weird_light_shine_2.0 seems the most possible thing to me 🤔 anyways, scares the crap out of me just to think that I did some hicking in BC not more than 6 months ago. Hope this gets solved soon, all this people deserve to know what happened
We can't do more, that would be racism and targeting Indians. But if we don't do anything, it's racism and we don't care about Indians. We need to give them autonomy on their reservations so as to not be racist, but we need to solve all their problems with handouts, otherwise it's racist. Expecting them to handle their own problems would be racist.
my aunt is Ashley Simpson went missing on this highway, breaks my heart how many other indigenous women have gone missing but the 8 that get attention are Caucasian women. amazing work you're doing here thank you so much for your help with these cases
@K L there are predators that dont care about race but its clear most of the women missing are MMIW (missing and murdered indigenous women), yes white women are taken as well but those are the women who get the news coverage and the few the cops actually care about and look into. 44 others agree with this post so I think its clear the typical news coverage focuses on those who appear more Caucasian. although race has nothing to do with those being taken you are right it does infact alot to do with who is found or even looked for
@K L I most definitely think there is something else going on, 3 years after my aunt disappeared her wallet was found in the bottom of a dirty oil tank where truckers frequent, details like this aren't ever mentioned we found out not by the police but by a local citizen who was on site and recognized the last name, I pray these women are found and thier families get closure no matter thier ethnicity
@@katymcginn4644 Ashleys body was discovered this weekend after 5 1/2 years of searching through family is finally able to start healing. I pray for the closure of every other missing persons case especially in these situations, my heart goes out to families still searching
no way would i hitch hike i live on highway 16 and I'm stuck here now because greyhound closed its route!! even when it was running i had to wait near the prince George depot in the small time i stood outside i was approached and watched by many men so i ran back into the depot for 12 hours till my bus came!! natives told me to hitch hike id get a ride fast!! no way will i do that!! i waited twelve hours hidden in the bus depot!
Christopher Schott in Ford ord ,before it was built on ,a woman was killed there , she was walking her dog .and she was missing and they found the body. Took a while to solve.
I would never trust random strangers and hitch hiking especially seems like Russian Roulette to me. But teenagers are known to make stupid decisions - they should be especially protected.
5:00 The guy who is more motivated to solve the crime sends the RCMP some information they reply with a stop order... wow talk about embarrassed that a member of the public with little to no training is getting more head way in the investigation then all of the RCMP
I think the Police know that these aren't all murders. They don't want People poking around. David Paulides could not get a simple list of who was missing in the National Parks. Military has conducted their own side by side investigations but refused to co-operate. They know something very weird is taking People, it's not all Serial Killers.
I still struggle to understand how we as a human race can lack so much compassion for one another. How have we not learned from our tragic history; how is it that we continue to mistreat those who undoubtedly require the most empathy from us as a society; and why are we not interested in healing together as a nation. It makes me physically ill and leaves me emotionally tarnished. I'm sorry for anyone and everyone that has been affected by hatred, intolerance, ignorance, and bigotry. We all deserve better and we must continue to demand better.
That highway is used to dump bodies.. It's not the location where the killings took place, it should be monitored alot more.. have cops stop traffic at random (nighttime) hours on random locations along that route, to check the trunk.
More realistically, it’s people who have the knowledge that reservation police forces can’t punish them if they aren’t in their reservations. I think it was ~60% or so of these attacks on Indigenous people are committed by people not from their reservation. Also, fun fact, Indigenous men are disappearing at higher rates but nobody talks about that either. It’s a horrible way to live when you can’t control what happens to the people who hurt your people. :(
@Anthony PUKY D Holland What's 'the cmp' dude. Lmao. RCMP. With your limited knowledge & execrable grammar, you actually are dumb enough to be a cop. At least one of the killers involved in the Highway of Tears is likely a cop/RCMP. Locals have suspected this for years, & the cops are dragging their heels in the investigation. Just like the cops did in CA to prevent the public learning the Golden State Killer, who'd raped at least 50 women & killed at least 13 people, was a disgusting cop too. Have a nice day.
Vice thank you so much for posting this video. for far to long the highway of tears has been kept quiet in canada. thank you for giving these families and these victims a voice.
I picked up 2 girls hitchhiking on 16, outside of Jasper AB. They were going to Hinton ( the next town over) for a youth bowling event. One girl was mentally challenged. I was horrified they were hitching because I knew about the stats. I dropped them at the bowling alley and alerted the adults in charge of the youth group, and exacted a promise they would drive the girls home, letting them know I would check in person. I also chewed their little butts off for hitching in the first place.
I was in Prince George last week visiting a family member. So at the tiny international airport when the flight landed & I was waiting to be picked up, this shady ass dude who was also on the flight I was on starts randomly talking to me. He says I work for this company and then looks at me thinking maybe I don’t understand English (I am brown), and I said ok.. so he continues “I work for this company & they ll pick me up, you can come it’ ll be free.” I said no, thank you, I am being picked up. This guy keeps hovering around the airport talking to random girls as I am waiting. Three East Indian girls come to pick up their mother & he starts talking to them asking them if they are Mexican & bla bla. This was a 50-ish white guy with long hair & was wearing a cowboy hat. Real real shady!! First experience of PG not even out of the airport yet.
@Raiders Husky I- do you not understand that some guy was hovering over women that don't look like they understand fluent English? It's clear he was trying to do something and pinning the person who wrote this comment as the problem is a big yikes from you-
Why hasn't the RCMP put into place some sort of prevention? They are handling it so old-school. Instead of putting in the efforts to catch those responsible, they are telling these women not to hitchhike when there are no other viable options to get around. Why can't we put some sort of surveillance on certain parts of the road? If its one long winding highway, why can't we put cameras near every entrance/exit? That way, if a woman does go missing, we would be able to pull up surveillance and see what license plates entered at a certain time, track those people down, and instead of declaring it a homicide we might have a chance to find a missing person alive.
Natalia you hit the nail on its head, surveillance cameras. Thank you!. There's someone with political influence that does not want these murders & future murders resolved. No money is a real lame excuse to not resolve this heinous deadly stretch of highway.
Because when they do, it's racist and they're targeting the Indians. When they don't though, it's racism, and they don't care about the Indians. They want autonomy, and handouts to better their lives, but when there's taxes to be paid and problems to be solved, that's whiteys problem.
As someone who’s lived here all my life, BC is a beautiful place but the looks of this province is incredibly deceiving, it’s dangerous as hell, especially for the women here😞
I was in Prince Rupert once and it was stunning, but even just looking at the road leading out of town sent a shiver down my spine. I wasn’t aware of this then, so now I understand my ‘irrational’ concern. It’s absolutely devastating for all concerned and I hope that they can eventually find out what happened to their loved ones.
@Ocean Summit Well I'd say that it's more than just circumstantial evidence when one of the suspects' father virtually admitted what his son was planning and carrying out.
I feel for all these people affected by this. I'm so sorry to all these girl's who lost their lives. They deserve to have someone fight for them. I couldn't imagine going through this with no one to help.
Mthammere2010 the problem is it seems like the police got better things to do which is I don't know thats what bothers me Canada doesn't seem like a place for Gang Violence like Chicago LA Miami Camden New Orleans whats even more disturbing these cases actually been on the First 48 as well and these women are being ignored seems like the Police might be corrupt up there or some systematic Racism is going on sad thing is White Women are being killed too yet they call this a Native American Issue or First Nations or Aboriginal Issue
+Amanda Flores well i know they caught a very young guy ..like about 20ish years of age....he had a dead girl in the back of his pick up truck...when they pulled him over.....but the killing have been going on for a long time...thats why the rcmp believe theres more than one killer roaming the highway
This needs to be talked about by everyone. I've also been writing songs and producing films about this and i hope that more people speak out about every aspect of this. it's horrible and it needs to be dealt with so that everyone is safe. safe.
My mom was raised in Smithers and she was friends with someone who was murdered on the highway of tears. I drove on it this summer during our trip to see where my mom grew up
I was born and raised in Prince George, This has been going on for what seems like forever. My bets are it's a truck driver and probably native himself.
+paradoxdesigns living in smithers you hear about this all the time, especially while I was in highschool. I am with you, I think its a trucker, or several different truckers. All I wish is that more people would learn NOT TO HITCH HIKE on this stretch of road
I was working in Kitimat and commuting from either Edmonton or Vancover about once a month or so . A very long drive and often found myself on the higway of tears in the early hours in the winter. One night about 3 am doing about 50 mph or so in the middle of no where surrounded with snowy forest and sub zero temps a very loud impact sound came from my right side passenger door. As if I had been hit by a rock. It was very loud and sharp sound. I didnt stop but just kept going. There isn't any population centre of any kind for hours in either direction and what ever that was it wouldn't do me any good to find out then and there so I pressed on. The next day I inspected the door and found a slight impact dent but not from a sharp object like a rock. Well I chaulked it up either to an owl or a sasquacth . My point is that something really weird is going on along the highway of tears and be careful when traveling it! It is very long and for the most part isolated!!!!!
Denise Stilwell was abducted on December 27, 2003 from the DTES, Vancouver. The man who abducted her was last seen driving a white Ford Taurus, Oregon license plate # ULE 008, on January 24, 2004, driving down Water Street. No cop ever investigated. BC Provincial court Judge Galati stated, "Police are not obliged to investigate reports of abductions". July 2015. The abductor has a device that interferes with surveillance cameras. Denise lived in Bridge Housing for Women.
@@chrisp5796 Very bright infrared LED lights around, and shining onto, lic plates are said to interfere with security cameras while not being detected by normal vision. Or maybe the guys who install them are gullible, I don't know. It does seem possible that the light would interfere with picture quality.
I lived in Prince Rupert for 46 years.. it’s very sad that a lot of these crimes haven’t been solved. There is so many truckers driving on that highway... u never know? And Hitch hiking was always going on there... seems not many care. I appreciate this man for working on this👍🏼🙏🏻
I heard Claudia give an interview on cbc radio about her missing sister. So sad that she still doesn't have any answers. My heart goes out to her and hope she can find her answers.
To the contrary it's really typical when it involves racists. Prostitution and drugs fuel it and racism sealed it. It's a growing problem in developed countries where accountability and responsibility of the authorities are replaced by fantasies by the authorities. Therefore the law enforcement and judicial/ education systems of North America are in need of serious reform; not tomorrow, not the distant future: today.
You're right, racism is a huge problem in North America, and it especially reflects through police. But this situation seems to involve not only that, but a lot of different causes at once. The lack of police response is just the catalyst for public anger. Reform is definietly needed but the people should look at themselves too: what can I do to help to solve this problem? And I mean not only those who were directly linked to the victims, but everyone.
+tomaats banaans (tomaats24) the RCMP is notoriously racist against Native American people. If you want to know more about some of the modern atrocities against Native American People in Canada look up the boarding schools and First Nations in Canada. Its horrific what generations of Native American people went through up until recently.
+tomaats banaans (tomaats24) These cases are decades old and decades cold, I don't thinkthat the police want to give up or stop working on them but there comes a point when you have to put this at least on the back burner. People are angry about nothing being done but if tonnes of money was being put into this and a shitoad of work was being done then people would be angry about the neglect on more recent and likely to be solved cases. It's a lose-lose for the police. I'm 24 and from Vancouver and I've been hearing about these cases for as long as I can remember. I'm not trying to come across like I think the police are doing the right thing but as a person who's from the area I understand it.
I am a current Prince George Local and I'm very happy this is finally being talked about. Being from Northern BC you hear about these missing women all the time yet The RCMP seem to do nothing about it and the MP's and MLA's dodge the subject constantly as well. Hopefully VICE can bring some light on the subject and get people talking about this issue more
I am from BC and just recently went back there with my wife and seen the Maddy Scott posters still up and she would have been our age and it really hit us both something needs to be done about this and as a father, husband and brother I would not stop until I got the answers I need. We both are spending all of our vacations next year in bc to help search areas as I know how rugged and brutal the terrain can be!!!
Nah, most bodies/remains have been found. Also, it’s sad they have to die and get murdered by these devils, but if it was me, I would just rather be dead then be human trafficked and most likely become a sex slave.
It is truly tragic to see everyone dancing around the painful truth here. If you talk to the people in these ares, live here, or like myself have been in a relationship with a first nations girl, you get a clear and very sad picture..Most of these missing woman come from very troubled abusive backgrounds, no stable family life, lots of substance abuse and they are attracted to a very dangerous lifestyle and in turn dangerous people. Many woman who emerge from this cycle of abuse are attracted to violent men. Violence in native communities plays a huge role and is the elephant in the room. No one wants to acknowledge that reality, or the refusal to operate with authorities and community silence regarding the issue. Most native Canadians talk about this reality openly and are seeking actual help but it is a narrative is too off script and uncomfortable for white people who want to virtue signal rather then offer support needed to solve a very real problem. The RCMP knows this reality, knows the covering up, silence and hostility to their intervention and investigation, the community pressure for people to keep quiet and not cooperate. There is the aspect where non native people seek out easy targets which these girls almost certainly are, but this almost certainly is the minority. There probably are serial killers involved but it isn't the main problem. Very sad situation, and the mess of the current inquiry was very predictable..Everyone wants to pretend they are doing something, that they care, but in reality they are just going to write the same predictable nonsense that seeks to obscure reality rather then engage with it. God help these poor woman and all Native Canadians caught up in this mess.
Evan Brown I'm not Canadian and I've never been to this place. But my thought when I saw this was there probably being killed by family members or people they know. And possibly some which is probably a minority that are killed nutcase strangers. Sad
biggest problem is the native community not banding together and creating a stricter society for themselves, in tailand parents let there children go into abandoned mine shafts people already got stuck in regardless of the weather, weastern parents let there children play in the front yard all alone and don’t check for 3 hours then seem shocked they could have been taken... our children pay for our shitty parenting
Most of your comment is understandable until the sentence, "... woman (women) who emerge from this cycle of abuse are attracted to violent men." Most women, girls, men & boys that emerge from a cycle of abuse happens because its what is familiar to them, its deprivation from not being taught how to live safe. If not learned at a very young & impressionable age one does not recognize a threat to their safety & well-being. Some of these women that become prey on this long stretch of Canadian highway desperately use the exchange of sex to get to there destination. Even when in grade schools it is taught about stranger danger what percentage remember the importance of one''s own safety? I do value your perspective. Thank you for sharing.
@@YourGraceMyLady the majority of murdered first nation women in canada is due to first nation men. Believe the stat is like 70 or 80 %. But, nobody wants to talk about that.
apply. my friend had an interview but he took a lot of theater light and sound classes and got certified then he also took film sound classes. he became an editor for them.
I can’t imagine the pain these families endure, with these missing woman. No closure, no answers. My heart goes out to all the families and friends of these victims and my heart breaks for the woman. I hope one day all of there families get peace and closure so at least a little justice can be served for all the lost lives! ❤️☀️
As a white man, I am just as repulsed by this neglect by the police. That's a shame. At the end of the day there are no different races - we are all human beings.
Nataschia Wilisch Is that all you really have to add to this comment section? That something worse is happening elsewhere so it doesn’t matter here?. Gtfo
I just heard about this for the first time today from a podcast called “Dark Poutine”. I don’t think they’ve done an episode about it yet but they mentioned something about it so I wanted to look it up. This is so heartbreaking. I can’t imagine what the family and friends of those people have gone through. The police need to do better with this case.
This is really eyeopening. I have heard of the highway of tears over and over again. Only recently have I started to study it. Each case is so sad. And it is frustrating that these cases have not been solved. I am disappointed that the RCMP have dropped the ball on this.
I believe that there needs to be a complete forensic audit of the RCMP and local police force practices in Canada, in relation to all of the missing and murdered Aboriginal women cases (open and closed). For years there has been evidence of criminal negligence and complicity on behalf of the RCMP and local police forces. Regarding the whole nightmarish Picton affair, there was even evidence entered into the Provincial Missing Women Inquiry, that should have ripped a hole wide open into revealing complicit police practices, but it never happened. I still want to burst into flames over the gross mishandling of that case...
It's a combination of a lot of things. An incredibly remote and poorly policed area that is an ideal dumping ground. A population that is not well treated (or cared about) by the officials, although that is slowly changing. These murders have apparently been ongoing for 30+ years, they figure that it is the work of multiple serial killers. It is also the work of some non-serial killers, drunken individuals who murder out of alcohol (or drug) fueled rage without being serial killers. They did arrest a man out of Texas (?) who was a long distance trucker and was linked to several of the murders. The numbers are astonishing, in the hundreds.
+Le Kre The Highway of tears is quite remote between Prince George and Smithers but I wouldn't say it's not well cared about or policed. It's actually a really beautiful and safe place. I lived there for a while and the only sketchy part about it was obviously this highway.
Le Kre We have a few places like that in the US.One in Texas and another in NY.NY is mostly long island serial killer but there were other bodies that had different MO..
My heart just broke for Claudia. That poor, poor woman. Anyone, regardless of circumstance, for whatever reason, who could even think for a second that one human being’s grief and heartbreak are less valid or valuable than anyone else’s. And the fact that another interviewee felt the need to emphasize that these were “individual women who meant a lot” to their loved ones...that speaks volumes. Bad, sad, terrible volumes. Knowing that anyone could actually say “it’s an aboriginal issue” was absolutely chilling. Knowing that it actually WAS said is chilling beyond words. Many of my older relatives were refugees from nazi genocide, and they had to live their entire lives not only with the knowledge that their families and friends were tortured and murdered...but with the knowledge that it was allowed to happen, because so many people saw the annihilation of millions of innocent, helpless men, women and children as “a European issue,” or “a jewish issue,” or “a political issue.” Knowing that was the reality is bad enough, but knowing that this same callous disregard for humanity is happening right now, in North America...It’s almost beyond my capacity to comprehend. Everyone matters to someone. Hell- everyone matters, period.
I live real close to PG and we all know this story is bigger than anyone knows. I hope Vice plans to follow this story as our new PM has a federal inquiry looking into this starting in a couple weeks
Damn and I wanted to go by myself studying in British Columbia for one year. Thought that Canada was a friendly peaceful and secure place.. Gosh this makes me sick. :/
I lived in both Prince George and Prince Rupert way back from 1993 onwards. PG was a rough place then and I heard lots about the missing women in the North and clearly got the sense that the RCMP did not give a damn about taking those cases seriously at all. I did a solo drive from Prince George to Prince Rupert when moving for my first job and that highway is creepy no doubt. Prince Rupert itself had its own issues and often felt very transient. I pray that these crimes will be solved one day and the families can have closure at last.
When this kind of thing happens in the USA, the perp is in the police or a local person of power. It's probably the case here. There's an impressive amount of incompetence here.
I traveled through this route alone recently all the way to Prince Rupert. Sleeping along the highway and random camp sites where I was the only person there outta like 25 sites which was super creepy even for me.
Heartbreaking...Among the signs of moral downfall in declining social order is the incredibly high incidence of violence within the family, the increase in degrading, cruel and abusive treatment of spouses & children and the spread of uncontrolled sexual violence out into all unstitutions of society. - One Baha'is Thought
I love the obvious hints to "Dogman" on the RCMP cops background on his laptop. Half Wolf, half man..... Missing 411 series are great books for those of you who haven't read them yet.
"Stepping on toes" shouldn't be an issue when looking to solve a murder. Don't care whose lil piggies are stomped on to get a murdering rapist of the street. Stomp away, Ray! An amazing man who gives his time, money, energy, empathy... God Bless Ray + others who do this on their own time. May all victims of the Highway of Tears Rest In Peace 🙏
Thank you for posting this video! I'm watching a documentary about Loren, the one who was found thanks to the stoppage of a car in which there was a filthy killer bastard in Bordeaux !!!
Any one of us could have easily been born into a situation like any of these women. They didn't choose to be born into their situation and neither did we. It's pure luck that many of us were born into well adjusted families. We should treat everyone the way we would want to be treated. I don't understand why I didn't learn about this in school. Every country has its problems and controversies but as Canadians we should own up to our issues and address them. These are people's lives we're talking about.
It's discussing to the whole world that the mudders are not cought yet and that this case is just being spoken of. I never thought i would be scared to visit Canada. Sick to my stomach.
Ray is so nice and kind I hope he's still living if he has children there lucky to have this man kind man as a father there's just something bout him that calms my nerves he's just a good kind man love you Mr ray
honestly, I felt lucky to grow up in central Alberta I only spent the summers living in a town on the highway, we moved there permanently early last year, it's scary to think about stuff like this I hope that it can all be resolved
It's strange to recognise a voice and then see the person it belongs to. I listened to a podcast that Claudia was a part of, about this horrible crime. I wish I could remember what it was called because it was really good and if you get the chance you should listen to it. I don't expect it to be that hard to find really.
Scary stuff. I live in Victoria, so the Highway of Tears is not all that far away. I've been interested in these missing cases for a few years now. Try Google Earth street view and travel down it a ways. Isolated area folks. Perfect stalking grounds for serial killers.

Luke Edmonds aww sorry
Luke Edmonds May he Rest In Peace, it seems like he gave a lot of his life/time into trying to help others.... I’m sure he was a very brave man and I’m glad this video is here to show people how important this issue is.
I'm very sorry man, I hope all his hard work allowed him to bring peace to the death girl's families, and at least make consciousness about this horrible problem
My condolences
Sorry for your loss, he seemed like a real stand up guy.
Justin Hopkins I agree with you 💯 %.

No it doesn't. You just don't have any balls
He is a real man. Someone to be admired. He has integrity and bravery for sure.

Aemelia Mead the
Unfortunately, The struggle is real.
Did you talk to her or help her ?
it's you?!
As a Canadian, this needs more exposure.
The elite don’t expose it for there own reasons.
@@moregoldmoregold It has nothing to do with elites. The masses simply don't care about it as much as they care about celebrity gossip and other news.

Great job you are very mature and responsible, thank-you!

Did you saw him again
Should have taken a photo of him from a distance. Just incase
@J and tell them what? Do you think my story would have been enough to get him arrested?
Why hasn't the RCMP put into place some sort of prevention?
They are handling it so old-school. Instead of putting in the efforts to catch those responsible, they are telling these women not to hitchhike when there are no other viable options to get around. Why can't we put some sort of surveillance on certain parts of the road? If its one long winding highway, why can't we put cameras near every entrance/exit? That way, if a woman does go missing, we would be able to pull up surveillance and see what license plates entered at a certain time, track those people down, and instead of declaring it a homicide we might have a chance to find a missing person alive.
Natalia Anderson Seriously there are so many viable options to try and make the highway safer and they're just putting up billboards!
You're damn right, that may be a very good idea. Seems like the Justice does not want to do anything. So sad
They would need a Million cameras. It's a great idea but ???

A very heavy and sad story, but the RCMP doesn't seem to do anything, which is really weird.

This is the work of multiple killers. Most likely one or both live in or work in the area of the dumped bodies.
Or a group of elites flying in amd getting off on the sick shit..
Yeah, other natives.
Robert Pickton eluded to there being 15 people occupying the area where the highway us and picking off people, but he has yet to give up any names
@@outlawm1 good joke.
Human traffiking...
Nah, most bodies/remains have been found. Also, it’s sad they have to die and get murdered by these devils, but if it was me, I would just rather be dead then be human trafficked and most likely become a sex slave.
Rcmp would pick them up and dump them
@Garrison Nichols wrong
Merri Cat so you think all these Native women are being killed by Native men? Wow, you’re really ignorant
@@YourGraceMyLady the majority of murdered first nation women in canada is due to first nation men. Believe the stat is like 70 or 80 %. But, nobody wants to talk about that.
We have the same problem here in Montana. People are organizing on the Reservations and state wide to bring more attention to this problem.
God bless this man and his journey and the work he does.

People who do this have a heart of gold and are soooo brave.

What a kind human being, instead of using his retirement, he uses it to find Justice for these long gone women
Althea Crawford and the US to
Madison Scott has nothing to do with "The Highway Of Tears" cases. She is missing from a camping trip, not hitchhiking.
+Le Kre Yes i belive the man they arrested was from Texas...
+Chris 420Hell where else from......
^^Hahahaha!
+Le Kre The Highway of tears is quite remote between Prince George and Smithers but I wouldn't say it's not well cared about or policed. It's actually a really beautiful and safe place. I lived there for a while and the only sketchy part about it was obviously this highway.
Le Kre
We have a few places like that in the US.One in Texas and another in NY.NY is mostly long island serial killer but there were other bodies that had different MO..
Many of my older relatives were refugees from nazi genocide, and they had to live their entire lives not only with the knowledge that their families and friends were tortured and murdered...but with the knowledge that it was allowed to happen, because so many people saw the annihilation of millions of innocent, helpless men, women and children as “a European issue,” or “a jewish issue,” or “a political issue.”
Knowing that was the reality is bad enough, but knowing that this same callous disregard for humanity is happening right now, in North America...It’s almost beyond my capacity to comprehend.
Everyone matters to someone.
Hell- everyone matters, period.
Seems like Ray was one of the few decent RCMP. Too bad he retired.
Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere
I live real close to PG and we all know this story is bigger than anyone knows. I hope Vice plans to follow this story as our new PM has a federal inquiry looking into this starting in a couple weeks
Damn and I wanted to go by myself studying in British Columbia for one year. Thought that Canada was a friendly peaceful and secure place.. Gosh this makes me sick. :/
You. Need to go to the ghetto or get back into reality
Guelsah Akman it is a beautiful place. I been here for 50 yrs ... You are missing out. Yes lots of missing people but I think it is everywhere sadly
You honestly expect a country of 36 million to have only angelic citizens? We are a wonderful country but like all countries, we have crime.
Maybe you should just study in Turkey and fix Turkey's problems, we are overwhelmed with foreign students.
Bowraville Australia. 3 indigenous children killed in small country town. Most people know who committed these awful crimes ..however no one charged.
When this kind of thing happens in the USA, the perp is in the police or a local person of power. It's probably the case here. There's an impressive amount of incompetence here.
I'm intuitive and always felt a cop (s) are involved
Good on you, Ray. May God bless you!
I traveled through this route alone recently all the way to Prince Rupert. Sleeping along the highway and random camp sites where I was the only person there outta like 25 sites which was super creepy even for me.
If only we had more people like Ray M to help!! What a great man!!
These are people's lives we're talking about.

honestly, I felt lucky to grow up in central Alberta I only spent the summers living in a town on the highway, we moved there permanently early last year, it's scary to think about stuff like this I hope that it can all be resolved
It's strange to recognise a voice and then see the person it belongs to. I listened to a podcast that Claudia was a part of, about this horrible crime. I wish I could remember what it was called because it was really good and if you get the chance you should listen to it. I don't expect it to be that hard to find really.
I listened to it too www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.cbc.ca/amp/1.4556030
Scary stuff. I live in Victoria, so the Highway of Tears is not all that far away. I've been interested in these missing cases for a few years now. Try Google Earth street view and travel down it a ways. Isolated area folks. Perfect stalking grounds for serial killers.
