Interface in BGA is so much better, you can see everything. In app checking opponents is quite slow. But I like challenges and that you can play against AI. when you are not certain that you have time to finish game. Tier 2 challenges lets you choose different maps, you are not limited to basic map
It's still in early access, so everything should get fixed up. I noticed earlier today that Sponsor Magnet is not instant but instead done at the end of your turn (bug)
Thanks for showing this off! How buggy is it? Most board-game apps (such as Terraforming Mars and Brass) are notoriously buggy, which results in a lot of unsatisfying games. That said, Dire Wolf Digital seems to have a pretty good track record. Oh, and does this app allow you to play asynchronous (e.g. Turn Based) games? Or only synchronous/real-time games?
There are a few bugs which likely get fixed before it comes out of early access. You can play Async with a timer of 3 days per turn. Real-time games are 3 minutes per turn. Doesn't look like any way to adjust those time settings.
Almost all boardgames apps suck for competitively minded players unfortunately. Overproduced interface which is cute but not as clear as BGA? Check. Online multiplayer but it's dead? Check Terrible AI which is only 'competitive' because of tremendous headstart? Check The only exceptions really that i know are Through the ages, twilight struggle and classics such as chess/go/backgammon where online play through app is good. In an ideal world BGA would just make their API available for developers of their licensed games and we would have cross play. You could have apps for people that like the nicer looking interface, solo play, AI, challenges etc. but you could also use it to play online with easily found opponents, ranking etc that BGA provides. But i dont see it happening, i doubt BGA backend was designed with that in mind plus you get into a difficult situation of who is responsible for testing and fixing bugs introduced by interaction between the BGA backend and app. Would be cool though if BGA cooperated closer with an app production to enable that. But the audience for boardgame apps is typically just different than that for BGA
The interface looks terrible to me ... If I wish to play a game solo on my PC/device I would defitinely not choose Ark Nova over a gazillion of other games: I would play a game specifically designed to solo play. BGA's impementation is just better in every aspect (not considering it's free) and now it even has the Marine World expansion...
I am not the biggest player of solo board games either, but there is a market out there (my wife) :P Agreed though I will stick to BGA for most of my playing, with the exception of the Special Challenges which I'm enjoying.
If it is to play against the AI, I think the AI should play better and not start with advantages.
This is true, but also probably easier said than done. I don't know much about AI learning. Maybe it's using early access to improve 👀

Ah, thank you. That's useful info to know about the challenges
I think some rules are implemented incorrectly, for example, card gained from assertion or resistance is revealed to opponents.

I still don´t like the interface, but I do like the challenges. I have completed ten of them already. Pretty fun.
