The main source of fuel for national electric grid is coal, they have to burn coal in order to generate electricity, so when you charge your EV you are burning coal instead of petrol.

Aiyya, try asking to try use electric vehicle but please don't say you are saving earth by just using electric vehicle. Except engine, all other parts remains same. Electric battery is not eco friendly until those are recycled properly and I don't see that it can be 100% recycled. Stating electric vehicle as environmental friendly is a myth. Electric bike are cost saving only if you use bike regularly and extensively
