Even though the movie is controversial, it was a movie my paternal grandmother held close to her heart. She was Kiowa and even though she did enjoy the classic cartoons of the 50 60s and 70s, she tolerated how they portrayed Native Americans. Peter Pan was her favorite ironically. So when She heard that Disney was going to make a movie based on Pocahontas, she did not hold her breath and just assumed that they were gonna make it silly and stereotypical. That is until she saw it, she cried tears of joy when she saw animated characters that looked exactly like her. And even though she was very vocal about how inaccurate it was, she was happy that for the first time she could see indigenous people portrayed the way they were supposed to be. She's gone now and I deeply regret never asking her more about our culture.

Pocahontas is a beautiful movie. I saw nothing wrong with the movie. I see it as them changing the story for the better. Changing it to what could have been had the colonists not done what they did and lead with patience, courage, and understanding the way Pocahontas did and willing to change for the better like John Smith did. And so many people keep saying that in some cases of the depictions of many Disney are racist, but I don't see that. I see beautiful characters being their genuine selves. But what everyone forgets is that some of the people in the movies are adults and what are adults about? 🤫🤭 😱 How frollo is the negative side of that. A lot of people see Disney as frollo like if frollo created those women. They can't and won't accept that it may not even be sexual to frollo's extent. You can still see someone as physically attractive and not sexualize them. Also, the pan flute is one of my favorite instruments. And you played so beautifully😊❤.

Pocahontas is a beautiful movie. I saw nothing wrong with the movie. I see it as them changing the story for the better. Changing it to what could have been had the colonists not done what they did and lead with patience, courage, and understanding the way Pocahontas did and willing to change for the better like John Smith did. And so many people keep saying that in some cases of the depictions of many Disney are racist, but I don't see that. I see beautiful characters being their genuine selves. But what everyone forgets is that some of the people in the movies are adults and what are adults about? 🤫🤭
😱 How frollo is the negative side of that. A lot of people see Disney as frollo like if frollo created those women. They can't and won't accept that it may not even be sexual to frollo's extent. You can still see someone as physically attractive and not sexualize them. Also, the pan flute is one of my favorite instruments. And you played so beautifully😊❤.
