I love the bright garish colours of the buses and trams. No douce maroon for our vibrant city.

PURE GOLD. I could weep for the city that was destroyed forever by the planners in the 1960s.

MrPoupard The planners should've been hung.

How cool! Really Space Age! Imagine how great they would look on Glasgow's streets today (let's not talk about Edinburgh's difficulties (the Silence of the Trams, as they say...)

I must admit these trams look a bit scruffy and run down. Part of this film though features Charing Cross as it used to be. So many fine buildings were indiscriminately destroyed in the 1960s and 1970s. The M8 motorway shouldn't have gone any further than Townhead.

jemimallah The council should of been hung for destroying beautiful parts of Glasgow forever. I can't believe they weren't jailed for that at least.

0.42 which street is that and does anyone know the name of the church (?) facing the tram? Btw nice to see Stuart and Stuart furniture shop which was on the corner of Woodlands Road and St George's Road for years. At 1.09/10 you can see the Park Cafe. Next to it I recognise the small retail outlet is a small sweetshop called Hepburns - I know this because I attended Willowbank Primary School grom the mid 1960s 😊

This view is looking roughly northwards up Park Road to the junction with Great Western Road. The (now commercialised) church looks to have been either a We Free Church or United Presbyterian one, depending on which date of map you look at. The National Archive maps are very helpful and interesting, this link might be of further use to you: maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/#zoom=17.68443195480707&lat=55.8747&lon=-4.2787&layers=168&b=1

Can anyone advise who set the routes/moved the points on the ground?

Every successful city in Europe have trams now and stupid GCC got rid of them against public opinion.

Sadly most of the UK made the same mistake. Things can be put right.
