The worst part is the belief that Mr. Grizz was the only mammal left, but that couldn’t be possible. DNA samples would need to exist *somewhere* and Judd proves that there are still mammals in this world. Mr. Grizz was better off trying to find what remained of mammalians to rebuild what was lost.

Something about the split second shot at 0:24 just breaks my heart. The choice of the song along with all the moody colors is just incredible. It’s videos like these that make me really want to see more of Mr. Grizz maybe in upcoming DLC or something
He kinda already did. At the final moment after beating him before he blasts away, he says something a long the lines of “I see, it seems there will never be mammals and sea life has taken over” or something
Always nice to see another Splatoon animation :D Nice to see some appreciation for Mr. Grizz, especially after his backstory reveal (which...seems to be quite controversial, depending on who you talk to). This is also very smooth, great job!
Not gonna lie, I found Mr Grizz’s backstory somewhat sad. He came back from 10,000 years back to earth off of the arc Polaris and he was the last bear to ever exist. Heck, the last mammal besides the Judds. I had no idea that was the whole reason why after I read the backstory. Also great animation by the way. It is incredible
hope he gets redemption tbh, his backstory is really sad since he saw the dead remains of the other animals and humans (unless they decomposed, I find it unlikely since they were on a spaceship) salmon community service time!!!
Bear #03 had rejected change in his grief of the past. Expecting a world where he could live normally, he used everything unnatural in an attempt to bring it to his own standards. Grizz was more similar to the humans than the inklings and octolings in that way.
It didn't really click with me just how sad Grizzs story was until I watched this. Now I've teared up a couple times for it lmao. It doesn't justify anything he did in the slightest, but man.. if only he realized sooner that bringing mammals back was impossible and pointless. Maybe then he could've found a home with the new apex species like the Judds did.
this animation is honestly heartbreaking. seeing grizz screaming in agony at the sight of all of his friends dead in the wreckage is absolutely soul wrenching really begs the question whether or not mr grizz was truly evil or if he just wanted his kind back after living potentially thousands of years of torment knowing he's the only one left
I’ve been watching this every day I fucking love splatoon lore and the stuff you make really encapsulates how cool the world of this franchise is. I found your channel through this vid and I’m excited to see what you make next, splatoon or not!
this hits HARD and I love it. honestly, the majority of the song fits too, even though you only used a small part of it here, and I'm going to be thinking about this forever now, thanks-
God this is so good. Mr Grizz has become my favorite splatoon character, the lore is so deep and dark and his backstory is so horrifyingly sad, part of me wonders if things had been a little bit different (maybe if he had met the Judds or if the humans had managed things differently and left a future a little bit brighter for mammals) would he have been different? Someone less vengeful, maybe even a friend?
Beautiful 🥺 really well animated, and it conveys so much emotion. Mr. Grizz is a surprisingly tragic character, and his actions are an example of doing the wrong thing for the right-ish reason. To Mr. Grizz, this was the right thing, as he lost everything and wanted the world to be how it used to be for the better, and genuinely thought he was "saving the world". Trauma can really mess up someone's point of view on the world too. Honestly? I'd like to see Mr. Grizz get a redemption arc similarly to Octavio. It's implied that he's still alive at the ending, and maybe they'll be able to help Mr. Grizz overcome his past trauma and accept the new world. Maybe he'd become friends with the Judds. Who knows. Imagine seeing all of the other species of your kind dying right in front of you, and knowing you're the only one left. That must have been TRAUMATIZING. hmm.... maybe if he's still alive, they'll find a way to clone him in a way similar to Lil Judd so Mr. Grizz can have another bear friend? And maybe it'll be a female bear, and they'll be able to make bears come back? That'd be really sweet ALSO CAN I REPEAT, AMAZING ANIMATION!!
@@lunanote-cassettemeower As happy as I am for him to be alive? Eh? I'm not sure how he was able to survive that explosion. Unless if the experiments he received made him extremely resilient. Hopefully that's explained later on.
@@impaster2166 he is like… 1200 years old I think it said? Some of the experiments may have made him live longer. Judd was injected with an immortality serum, maybe Mr. Grizz had something similar happen?
Bro, me and my friend joked all the time about how hilarious it would be for mr. Grizz to be the final boss, and when we found out he actually was, we went CRAZY! I hope we see mr. Grizz in the DLC. Maybe the salmonoids could be the villains now and mr. Grizz is the only hope to save everyone. Like they say, “the enemy of my enemy is my friend.”
i don’t know why i’m boiling this down to the most minuscule details, but this is so perfectly fitting considering a bear is in the same living tombstone song
fun fact: mr grizz wasnt the only mammal aboard the rocket, but sadly all of them died except Him. im kinda wondering if he hibernated, if he didn't then dear god
I was so upset seeing Mr. Grizz realize the errors of his ways, only to either be blasted into orbit or killed in the explosion. Then after beating After Alterna it felt worse. I cry a lot over characters and their backstories but man, I think the last time I really felt this much pain was with Gamma from the first Sonic Adventure game
Tho what he did wasn’t right, you can kinda understand why he did it. His so lonely, he really just wanted someone even a little closer to him. Imagine being him, being the last of your kind. Only being left around some wired creatures that are not close to you in anyway.😢
I applaud you! The quality of this is amazing and wonderful choice of music! This inspired me to make my own thing (not animated but eh it’s something)
I like his lore, its very interesting. But it's also a disappointing end, bro just didn't want to be alone but he gets his shit rocked by a child and hisbpet fish and a mega laser containing 5K gallons of Lead paint blasting at a rapid speed that can cause the loss of body parts.
Judd is a mammal too, and that didn't stop him from living among the Inklings. Mr. Grizz knows inkling language too, he already went through the hardest part. But he was so fixated on his past and what he lost that he never once thought of the life he could have had in this new world, and did the unforgivable by brainwashing thousands of innocent Octarians, making money from the slaughter of the Salmonid race and plotting to destroy life as marine people know it, all for his own selfish wish. He realized his mistakes once he was defeated, but it was too late, the damage was done, and his loneliness would now last forever. Mr. Grizz is a tragic character. We can understand his motivation, but his actions are far from justified.
Oh my god I was listening to this song earlier and oh my god you are so big brain for putting this song and Mr Grizz together. The art is fantastic and I think the bear himself would be pleased

The crash also gives us insight on the Ruins of Ark Polaris map for Splatoon 2 salmon run. That rocket was where Grizz came out of, and also explains the active bear area sign, yet it still makes no sense. We know he’s a bear, yet who would put that sign up? Couldn’t be local Inklings or Octolings, since they don’t understand English. Sure, they know he’s a bear but not really. Although it may be an insult, Callie calls Grizz an “overgrown fuzzball”, not a bear. If they only know about humans, they probably don’t know that Jud and li’l Jud are cats. So what would let them know what a bear is? Then again, humans can’t put that up. There’s no way one of the humans survived the crash, specially put up the active bear area sign, and just dip. Grizz's actions were justified. He woke up, knowing he was the last mammal (except from the Judds) in the whole of Earth, a planet that was dominated by his kind. He got so close to returning Earth back into mammal's rule, and was stopped by an teenager from a species of evolved sentient squid. And in his last moments he realized that it was too late, and that Earth would continue to be ruled by evolved sea creatures.
I always wondered about the furry Octolings we fought a few times. Is that the final result of cephalopods touching the furry ooze instrad of that fur ball we become touching the ooze in the overworld or when we fail to stop Grizz, or were they part of an earlier experiment by Mr. Grizz? Also were they considered mammalian by then, or were they just a horrid hybrid? Last, why did they fight for Grizz? Did they really consent to being mammalfied by him?

I'm happy I stumbled across this masterpiece. Keep up the WONDERFUL work!
i hope he makes a return since hes just floating in orbit rn
In the end, he accepted that this is how the world was now, and there’s no undoing it
@@slippyy4252 I hope so too!! He's one of my favorite characters. I hope he doesn't get shun out after that huge reveal in Hero Mode and stuff, but atleast mentioned in the WIP DLC the Splatoon devs are cooking up. 🙏🙏
I do wonder if the DLC will star Off the Hook finding the mysteries of Grizzco Corp. And what are the eggs being done of. Maybe we can even get to explore the factory.. I dunno man but I'm excited!
@@slippyy4252 yeah, it would be cool that he becomes an ally in a DLC or another game, like Dj Octavio in the end of the game
The fact he have the perfect world and the perfect impact on the present is insane
He manipulated all Inkling and Octoling to bring him Golden eggs and said the Salmons were dangerous and could invade us when it only happen very rarely every several years, which could be a sign he’s trying to extinct the Slamons
We saw a little salmon can beat his plan and eat the fuzzle, so if he could get rid of all of them by the same way he can earn eggs for his plans and for cities´ eletricities like why Salmons runs is here
He’s appearance in the story mod was perfect
i dont know much about splatoon (been meaning to bc it looks like so much fun), but i watched this and genuienly started crying a bit. even without knowing the lore, the amount of EMOTION that is in this is just.... its amazing. and the colors? the scenery?? the fact that the song had been slowed to that perfect point where the tune is much more somber? absolutely phenomenal work!!!!
I think it’s implied that the ooze is made out of his own DNA samples which is really sad
Yeah, I have a theory that the marine animals are still at the bottom of the food chain, and that vertibrates are still the dominant lifeforms, we just don't see them alot.
*_Mr. Grizz after just surviving a near 0.000001% chance of death from space re-entry, finding out all the surface dwelling mamals are dead and everything has gone to heck_* : At least I can get a bite to eat from this stream, here comes a Salmon now...
-Proceeds to get slapped by a frying pan
Something about the split second shot at 0:24 just breaks my heart. The choice of the song along with all the moody colors is just incredible. It’s videos like these that make me really want to see more of Mr. Grizz maybe in upcoming DLC or something
Why do I want to make a story where grizz becomes a better person after the ending of splatoon 3, his backstory is just honestly so interesting gods.
He should be like a ref in turf wars or something along with Judd and lil. I feel so bad for him.
He kinda already did. At the final moment after beating him before he blasts away, he says something a long the lines of “I see, it seems there will never be mammals and sea life has taken over” or something
do it.
DUDE THIS LOOKS SICK I LOVE IT!! THE SCENERY IS AMAZING AND YOU CAPTURED MR GRIZZ SO WELL!!
To those who finished that blasphemous stage, welcome true agents
Thank you fellow agent
Thank you!
Thank you friend, I salute you
Thanks a lot!
Thanks dude
Always nice to see another Splatoon animation :D Nice to see some appreciation for Mr. Grizz, especially after his backstory reveal (which...seems to be quite controversial, depending on who you talk to). This is also very smooth, great job!
I like how they were screaming at us that Grizz is something unusual the entire time
The composition and lighting here is absolutely stunning. It portrays Mr. Grizz's backstory so vividly.
It is incredible
hope he gets redemption tbh, his backstory is really sad since he saw the dead remains of the other animals and humans (unless they decomposed, I find it unlikely since they were on a spaceship)
salmon community service time!!!
0:33 i don’t know why but this scene where Mr. Grizz laughs with the ooze is just…exquisite
Bear #03 really has the saddest story in all of splatoon.
this animation is honestly heartbreaking.
seeing grizz screaming in agony at the sight of all of his friends dead in the wreckage is absolutely soul wrenching
really begs the question whether or not mr grizz was truly evil or if he just wanted his kind back after living potentially thousands of years of torment knowing he's the only one left
I love Mr. Grizz so much this is pure gold
your pfp has fuzzy ooze
Fuzzy ooze
@@netx7377 wow it does kinda look like that huh

I suddenly wondered what it’d be like if Splatoon was an anime. It’s already a manga, it couldn’t be that bad.
Because of you, I’ve learned that Spatoon has actual lore behind it, and at some point, I have to play these games
Please do, they have some of the best worldbuilding of any piece of media imo
If I hadn’t played splatoon and someone told me this was a splatoon animation I genuinely wouldn’t believe them.
I’ve been watching this every day I fucking love splatoon lore and the stuff you make really encapsulates how cool the world of this franchise is. I found your channel through this vid and I’m excited to see what you make next, splatoon or not!
Fr I've watched this 2 to 5 times everyday since it came out. Sad this video only has like 125k views
This animated interpretation of Mr. Grizz’s backstory is so cool! And pretty accurate to how I imagined it when I first encountered it!
this hits HARD and I love it. honestly, the majority of the song fits too, even though you only used a small part of it here, and I'm going to be thinking about this forever now, thanks-
i used to love epoch years ago. never thought i would hear it again in such a cool splatoon animation!
I haven't beaten After Alterna yet but I don't care I'm eating this video because it's so good
Edit: I BEAT IT FINALLY OH MY GOD
HONESTLY GRIZZ DESERVES MORE LOVE AND THIS IS A PERFECT EMBODIMENT OF JUST. HIM. AS A PER- BEAR? BEAR.
“It’s just a kids game about squids”
I’ve no other words but this gave me chills. Literal chills. This is a beautifully animated masterpiece. You should be proud!
The funny thing is that the ad before this video featured a spaceship.
This is so cool omg! It shows the backstory perfectly ahaha
Mr Grizz is such a cool character and it sucks how people are underestimating him, etc
Beautiful 🥺
really well animated, and it conveys so much emotion.
That'd be really sweet
ALSO CAN I REPEAT, AMAZING ANIMATION!!
Where is it implied that he's still alive? I'd like to see that
@@impaster2166 It is floating in the upper right at the end of the ED.
@@impaster2166 during the credits scene he’s seen floating around in space!
As a wise man once said:
“grief can make you a monster”
THIS IS AWESOME OH MY GOD
this was done so fast too!!
i loved the story mode for this game, it was absolutely incredible
Bro, me and my friend joked all the time about how hilarious it would be for mr. Grizz to be the final boss, and when we found out he actually was, we went CRAZY! I hope we see mr. Grizz in the DLC. Maybe the salmonoids could be the villains now and mr. Grizz is the only hope to save everyone. Like they say, “the enemy of my enemy is my friend.”
i dont know why but as i put it on loop, i just wanna cry....it hits hard
He is honestly my favourite Splatoon villain and is so tragic :(
The world would’ve lived if we hadn’t hated each other so much but I guess mother nature really had to replace us in the story of splatoon
THIS IS AMAZING!! Finally something about Mr. Grizz, it's hard to find anything at all, so thank you so much for making this!
This is fantastic man! I actually got emotional watching this 😭😭💖💖💖
it's the most beautiful spoiler in my life
XD
good animation, and epoch it's the actually mr grizz's theme
Just love your Splatoon animations
It's almost crazy that this is Splatoon
He was thinking. For 10000 years. Alone in the dark empty void of space.
No way i got the fnaf movie trailer as an ad before this 💀
i don’t know why i’m boiling this down to the most minuscule details, but this is so perfectly fitting considering a bear is in the same living tombstone song
Grizz is my favorite bear and villain in the splatoon franchise.
I’m glad he didn’t die so now he can have a redemption ark
GOD DAMN THIS IS SO GOOD
OMG THAT IS SO SMOOTH🤩 I wish I can animate like that❤️ I hope you have a wonderful day and keep up the great work :D
Everyone not an inkling and or octoling wants the human society to come back and end up failing horribly
fun fact: mr grizz wasnt the only mammal aboard the rocket, but sadly all of them died except Him. im kinda wondering if he hibernated, if he didn't then dear god
I think he ate them all in a desperate act of survival.
This is like a story its so cool and that animation the purest this is so FANTASTIC!!!
Well it is the story of Splatoon 3
yeha this animation is an iteration of in-game "logs" for splatoon 3, basically detailing lore and such
I love the way you draw Grizz omg he’s so Chonk 🥺
Tho what he did wasn’t right, you can kinda understand why he did it. His so lonely, he really just wanted someone even a little closer to him. Imagine being him, being the last of your kind. Only being left around some wired creatures that are not close to you in anyway.😢
mr grizz is my poor little meow meow
I applaud you! The quality of this is amazing and wonderful choice of music! This inspired me to make my own thing (not animated but eh it’s something)
This is amazing work! Poor Grizz, I feel sad for him.. 🙁
I dint even know about the splatoon lore and this still gives me chills what-
This is why i will never complete story mode. Mr Grizz is not evil, just broken.
HOLY SH*T THIS IS SO GOOD AND FOLLOES THE STORY
this is absolutely amazingly well done i love this so much
Oh my god I was listening to this song earlier and oh my god you are so big brain for putting this song and Mr Grizz together. The art is fantastic and I think the bear himself would be pleased
Jesus christ this is amazing.
Poor bear man:(
*when mom finally says it's your turn on the xbox:*
Anyways this animation is absolutely fire it's so gorgeous holy shit I love it so muchh uahhduwhdh I love how atmospheric your choices of color are here
like sureee he was going to commit basically mass genocide but i still feel bad for him
HOW DID YOU DO THIS SO QUICKLY AAAAA.
ALSO- I didn’t know you liked splatoon- SJSJJSD
I LOVE Splatoon, and I love this animation plus your art style, you make me have more appreciation for this game
Still so many questions to be answered, and I’m sure we’ll get some when the DLC drops. If we don’t? Well that I don’t know. Almost forgot to say, amazing animation! You did great on it!
well, shiver, big man and frye know what a bear is, callie is smart, she probably just called him that as an insult
@@netx7377 just remembered how the Captain said the bear is filled with fuzzy ooze, so that would probably make sense. I’m still assuming that they don’t know English, so the active bear area sign is still a mystery
@@danbrads4711 yeah cuz one thing i noticed especally from jaymoji, marie says she wishes she knew what the signs n stuff said, even though it looks like squid language, but maybe since it doesnt look like normal, it could be like english but since they havent been able to understand english it looks different? but maybe they were able to understand some types of english that made up the active bear area sign, but thats splatoon 2 so maybe it changed a bit
OOOUHH I LOVE THIS SO MUCH!!
Mr.Grizz is one of my fave splatoon characters and you animated his backstory so well!
I feel like the song suits mr.grizz rather well in a sad and depressing way
dude this video was the one thing that motivated me to beat after alterna I was like 'gotta get through this so I can watch the bunnycat video' and it was WORTH IT
I LOVE MR GRIZZ SO MUCH, THIS IS AMAZING AAAAGH
Bro I got actual shivers good job man.
BRO I LOVE THIS WHAT A MASTERPEICE.
I LOVE THE FUNNY BUISNESS BEAR AND THIS ANIMATION IS WONDERFUL AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHH
He is subtly a sympathetic villain. An I love that. Don't agree with what he tried to do but I understand why he wanted to.
i wanna hug him and then be his little friend, sitting on his shoulder
When the bear can read charts
I always wondered about the furry Octolings we fought a few times. Is that the final result of cephalopods touching the furry ooze instrad of that fur ball we become touching the ooze in the overworld or when we fail to stop Grizz, or were they part of an earlier experiment by Mr. Grizz? Also were they considered mammalian by then, or were they just a horrid hybrid? Last, why did they fight for Grizz? Did they really consent to being mammalfied by him?
It says that Fuzzy Ooze makes a Cephalopod lose their sense of self, so it's like being Sanatized.
I think i have a new favorite nintendo character
I HAVE NO CLUE WHO THIS GUY IS but he's cute and i feel bad for him :((( also this is so dang pretty this rules ❤️
This animation and art is pristine omg
THIS WAS SO COOL!! Almost heart wrenching!
Yes, Mr. Grizz may be a villain but it doesn't mean he deserve to be alone without his kind. So we hope can find his kind again.
