I don't hate the new Rainbow High stuff, but I feel a little let down, especially since they got rid of the wrist joints. I wonder what goes on in those boardroom meetings. Rainbow High's been making some questionable choices since the beginning, with the sometimes glossy faces, the pricing of certain dolls, or even features like the swappable flat foot legs.
Yeah, RH has definitely had their ups and downs, but this is a very big drop down 😭 I just watched Darling Dollz's video where he discussed the swim dolls and fashion packs. He made a good point that the lack of wrists is so that the hands don't have to be removed, probably because kids might break/lose the hands. But I think this could make it harder to dress them because of the fingers getting caught in everything 😒
I cannot wait for Monster Fest Clawdeen. This is how I felt about her Monster Ball doll (the only one I have of her), but I might like this one even more!
I was very slow to get into RH originally but once I got my first one I was floored by the quality of them, seeing what the line is becoming now feels like a big step back for the line as far as I'm concerned. Now, I have no idea if RH/SH was losing money for MGA and this is why they've changed them, but maybe if they hadn't tried to saturate the market so much with so many releases they may have fared better and lasted longer.
This drastic change of direction is odd. Considering there is a recession coming, maybe they just adapt to the economical context. It is true that they saturated the market but look at the MH releases in the US, they don't seem to have any pause in between. They will suffer eventually the same fate. It took me a long time to truly appreciate RH. I especially love SH dolls. Most of them are so amazing. It will be sad if SH dolls are not produced anymore.
It's true, there was a point where there were so many RH/SH dolls that ot was difficult for collectors to keep up, especially completist collectors. For kids, I think it was probably more a situation of picking their favorites, because parents couldn't buy them all. But still, I don't think this would cause a loss overall. Maybe on things like big Amaya or the house, but the dolls always sold well from what I saw on shelves. There could be a bit of brand fatigue going on. I felt that when series 5 came out, the ideas were kind of running dry. And the fact that they spread themselves so thin with OMG, Bratz, Dream Ella, Mermaze, etc. I also feel like maybe they decided to just fuse Dream Ella and RH, since Dream Ella seems to have disappeared. 🤷♀️
I agree that Cleo doesn't look very wintery but I think the sheer fabric coming off her hands has snowflakes on it. I'm also really vibing with Festival Clawdeen and I think it's for the same reasons you mentioned. I like the idea of the Unicorn Academy doll but will definitely need to see them in person first.
You're probably right, I bet it does have snowflakes. I can't wait to see better pics! And Festival Clawdeen...🤌 I hope they lean even more into the celestial for her going forward. I agree, it'll be easier to judge UA when we see stock pics or live pics, but I'm hopeful. I really did love Mermaid High, so I'm hoping it'll be their spiritual successor.
Oh Rainbow High, I will never understand. Howliday Cleo looks gorgeous! Thankfully I’m not into the Howliday Claud and Draculaura which means I’ll save money 😂 Ooooo I really like Monster Fest Clawdeen!! Oh I think that’s why I like her, too-because of the constellations instead of the animal print. I don’t know enough about Bratz so I didn’t realize these upcoming releases aren’t just reproductions! It looks like a computer rendering to me too, but I hope the Unicorn Academy dolls look similar to those! So are these made by the same company who did Mermaid High??!
Yaaaas I really love the lean into celestial for Clawdeen. I need more of that!! And yes, UA is from Spinmaster! So I am really hoping they'll be the spiritual successor for Mermaid High. I know they weren't the most incredible dolls but they were a good mid-level doll choice.
Excited for the Festival Clawdeen and Unicorn Academy. I've also been vibing with the LOL omg tweens lately, even though they've scaled back on some of the circulation and stand.
I didn't realize they took the stands from the tweens! That's a shame. This latest series of them is actually my least favorite that they've ever done 😕
On the RH dolls, it does look like the thigh(you can sort of see Sunny & Skyler's) & wrist articulation are gone and the Jr's all have flat foot shoes. Idk if it's because they are Pajama-themed though.
I wouldn't be surprised if the thigh twist was gone. Whatever they can cut back to make them cheaper. As far as flat feet for the tweens, I think that's not a terrible idea, just because they are younger, they wouldn't probably wear heels.
Maybe Poppy will split off to pursue baking. Maybe Scarlett's Storywood is the source of the poopsie pets from another dimension? Maybe Storywood will be a sci-fi universe where they can bring back Novi Stars. I think Shadow High will continue on in some form for the collectors. Either way, I'm probably buying bathing suit Ruby, new Core Sunny, some of the fashion packs, and some of slumber party junior high. It's a win-win for MGA because collectors will still buy some of the new, and they can possibly reach younger fans to ecome the future collectors. As to Monster High, I hope they give us some new characters, not just updates of the old
I would love it if they would make collector dolls for us while 'Poopsie High' went it's own way, but I think it's too much to ask for 😆 I might, MIGHT, get the Sunny fashion pack. It's kind of cute. And possibly the pajamas. Otherwise, I can't see myself getting any of the dolls. With the wrist joints gone and the fact that I have superior versions of the characters anyway, I have no need for them 🤣
IMO rainbow high is dead to me now that it slime and kid friendly. Good for the kid but as an adult, I no longer care for it. The 2 detail outfit was my favorite part and now it is gone. Also the cute base but the base been getting worst with less hair, blad spot, misprint etc and now there even less articulation. I am sad but it was good while it last. At least now I can finish my collection with the few new series since I won;t get anything with slim or budget line in it. (I get it on clearance to dress the old doll if it fit but not for much else) I am so sad. Imagine a full detail PJ like the 3 slumber doll? OMG so cute and all the different sleeoing bag. Now everything just a dream.
Yes, it's really sad that this is the way they had to go, but I will always cherish the dolls I did get. But MGA is going to do what they think is going to bring the most money, so we adults will just have to move on.
Ohmygosh I love that the new bratz appear to have arm articulation!! I never got the bratz movie Starz dolls that had that back in the day so to be able to get it now would be awesome! I still love all the reproductions because I didn't get many bratz as a kid, they just weren't as available in my area as barbie was, so the ability to get them now for an affordable price is amazing. But to get new styles is great too! I'm not a mh fan, but I was laughing at your commentary on clawd's outfit 🤣 that is truly ridiculous looking 🤣 I've said this before on other videos sharing images of the new rh reboot and rather than repeat my entire rant I'm just going to say that I'm truly sad and disappointed that this is what we're getting in return for how much money we've been spending on this brand and how popular we've made it. Because yes even tho their targeting kids, in the end we're the main ones who promoted them everywhere and made it to where they were sold out in many places. And especially The adult collectors who bought multiples to customize, or have in box and out of box versions. At about 30 dollars a doll that gets expensive. Bah. Anyway, I haven't seen that unicorn academy thing yet either, but if they actually make the doll and unicorn look better I might consider starting that. Overall tho bratz is what I'm most excited for and can't wait to see the rest of the girlz😊
Hmmm... To be honest, I think it is MGA's marketing who promoted RH very cleverly. The adult collectors buying multiple dolls to restyle are a small section of the market. The money people spent on these dolls was their choice. Thinking about it objectively, it has been crazy to have dolls so amazing (especially some of the SH for me) for that kind of price. G3 MH dolls cost the same as RH/SH in Europe. I would not pay £30 for a G3 MH (except for Venus but there are always exceptions!).
I think I'm not as excited about the repro Bratz because I had a lot of them myself when I was younger, so it's not as exciting for me. But I do think it's great for others who missed out! I think as far as RH, there were multiple factors that made them popular, not just us collectors, and not just marketing. Even at their high price, they were just so eyecatching in the aisle, they were pretty, different, stylish. I will sorely miss them in their classic designs and I really hope that Bratz will kind of fill that void. 🥲
Rainbow High... well... They are just designed for a younger age group. The og RH were not kids friendly and SH even less so. Some SH dolls look like collector dolls rather than play line. It could not last. Totally unsustainable for MGA. Cleo is great, as usual. Cleo always manage to look great in any generation. The Draculaura and Clawd 2 pack is so ordinary. I don't collect G3. I don't like them that much. I only have core Cleo but... have you seen Venus? Wow! She looks great. This is the first G3 doll I really love and the first one with a "monstery" vibe. If the other characters were as fierce as her I would have collected them. I just don't have the space. It would have been a disaster. Unicorn Academy is not for me. If you give me the choice of unicorns, I'd rather have the Poopsie ones coming with RH!
I mean, I don't think RH was totally inaccessible to kids. They always reminded me of Bratz in the way they had repeat characters and certain themed lines, and the outfit quality was so high. Some Bratz dolls back in the day had a collector vibe too, but I loved them as a kid. I think it depends on the type of child you are. I do really like this Cleo, and it is kind of disappointing Drac and Clawd are only meh. But I have Vampire Heart Drac, so I can just look at her and sigh dreamily 😆 Venus is pretty spectacular. I would have liked her skin to be just the tiniest bit lighter green, but I'm kind of warming up to it. She's not one of those immediate buys for me, but she's on my radar.
I really don't think RH were a good playline. For adult collectors or display purposes, yes. To play? The clothes have the tendency to fall apart if removed only a few times. The shoes are also difficult to put on and break easily. The articulated joints for the hands break easily too. The dolls are quite bulky compared to Barbie, MH or Omg. I don't think all these factors are great for kids. Maybe I am wrong but that's how I see it.
@@darklight4251 I mean, I have dressed and redressed my RH dolls, I haven't had clothes fall apart. Shoes, yes, they could be delicate, but not every type of shoe. As far as their bulk, I find it quite pleasant to have the weight of them in my hands. Light dolls feel cheap to me, like the have no substance. And I think any doll with wrist joints and removable hands has a chance of breaking, not just RH. I'm not trying to be argumentative, but I don't think RH are impossible to play with. If I had them as a kid, I know I would have loved them more than any Barbie (no shade to Barbie).
They are not impossible to play with but they are really not the best. Children have small hands, and they play with their toys. They don't handle them like an adult collector do.
And they carry them outside with them too. I have seen little girls carrying omgs with them. I think RH are great for adult collectors and older kids but not for proper play.
Look listen up… I know people keep saying how sad they are about the quality drop and stuff of rainbow high but honestly it’s for the better. They still have quite the amount of quality but the things they had before were just too much and too unnecessary for playline dolls. Was it nice ? Yes. Collectors loved it. But the play value of the dolls was horrendous. Clothes would rip just by putting them on carefully. All beads etc. would fall off even on collector’s dolls who obviously don’t play with them like kids would. Also the dolls were mega heavy because of that and very hard to move and stuff. Not to mention the absurd price of the dolls because of that. Like kids would “collect” monster high back then but no kid can “collect” rainbow high unless they are a mega rich family who lives in a 5 story mansion. And let’s be honest.. do doll boots really need to be Fabrik? No no they don’t. They bump up the cost like crazy, you can’t get as much detail and they are really hard to put on. Like at the end of the day you need to REALLY think about the play value
I hear what you're saying, but I can't agree. There needs to be a middle ground. Just because a doll is made for a younger demographic, doesn't mean you can't put throughtful, high quality designs on it. Take Bratz, for example. They became my favorite dolls when I was a kid because they had cool clothes, mix and match outfits, and were really different. Their clothes felt like real clothes a person might wear. They stood out from Barbie, that's why they got wildly popular in 2001. I never felt like I couldn't play with my Bratz. In fact, they were all I played with for years. And yes, maybe they were pricey, but that doesn't mean kids wouldn't be able to pick their favorites. I was never trying to collect every single Bratz doll as a kid, I just picked the ones I liked (same as now lol). You don't need to have every one to enjoy them. If you want a modern example of a doll line that's kid and collector friendly, look at MH G3. The designs are thoughtful, they keep to the character, and the clothing is nice enough to be easy for kids to play with while giving details for the collector. They have that balance that, if MGA gave some effort, RH could pull off too. It's not enough to say a doll needs to be basic for a kid to be able to play with it.
Kelsea, Bratz are totally different to RH. Their bodies are quite small, not bulky at all. They have minimal articulations. They are difficult to break unless you guillotine them or take their body parts off (it sounds like terrible episodes of our history!).Their clothes were detailed but would last. I have bought lots of Bratz clothes in boot sales. They are really great quality and totally suitable for play. Easy to take off and back on numerous times. It seems children always have to loose parts of their dolls. If it is not the hands it ends up being the feet in the case if Bratz! Nothing is perfect!
As an adult collector G3 MH is not for me (unless they improve them, it is also a possibility). Venus is the only one that really impressed me so far. She is the first G3 doll with a monstery vibe. She is gorgeous, fierce and has an edge. I am glad because I always had a soft spot for Venus. When I finally (finally!) saw Ghoulia, it was a huge disappointment because of the terrible mouth they gave her. She has one of my favourite G1 mold and it made me sad to see her new face. Clawdeen looks like a Cave Club doll. I like CC dolls. They are cute but Clawdeen is a Monster High! I don't like Frankie's face either. Toralei... she does not even look like a cat to me and I don't like her face either. I am not very impressed with their outfits. We don't have many lines released here in Europe. I have only seen the core dolls. Ghoulia has been available in shops here only about one month ago. Abbey is cute but she is just cute, no edge, nothing fierce and no monstery vibe. I only have core Cleo. She is the only one I liked. Her jacket reminds me of Barbie Extra clothes. I have found a Barbie Extra jacket with fringes in a boot sale. It is about the same quality as Cleo's jacket. I hope they will improve them. The new core dolls are an improvement for the faces. I don't have any nostalgia for G1 MH. I was an adult when I started collecting them. It is just my point of view on G3 as an adult collector.
@@KATC of course and that’s no doubt. However bratz didn’t have as much details as rh at some times. And those extra bits of quality were just to much to be used as a play object
The search has begun for new fashion dolls, im pretty sure im done w rainbow high bcause of the wrist movement, whats next? You know something will come next.😢

@@darklight4251 exactly. That’s a really good point
The search has begun for new fashion dolls, im pretty sure im done w rainbow high bcause of the wrist movement, whats next? You know something will come next.😢
I'm done with RH too 😆 I'm putting my focus on Monster High, and probably Bratz.
