You're the reason I stopped using oils, went vegan whole food plant based, began intermittent fasting, and improved my workouts immensely! 👍 Thank you so so much for that 😄 p.s: 1.3k thumbs up and 8 thumbs down holy heck man that likes:dislikes ratio is unheard of!
i also stopped using oils and have to say .. never been better , i changed my lifestyle ( at least in eating ) 180 degrees ; now i eat vegetables , whole grain bread or whatever it s called , chicken , fruits and that s it , lost 25 kg in 6 months just by changing food
Ha! I made some yam fries earlier today and didn’t want to use oil. I sprinkled some water on instead but they got too soft. Thank you for showing me that no water is necessary even though I figured that out the hard way. Definitely trying to stay away from oils when possible.
So I made this tonight. Yeah, amazing! I don't eat kale, I replaced it with arugula. I added garlic and cilantro to the avocado. I used sweet potatoes instead of yams. Otherwise, same recipe. And, wow! Thank you so much!
Today I am making my homemade fries very 1st time which I try with oil and bake. I just put the tray in the oven and check on more video , then I found you. I will try no Oil next time as I prefer the most.
Try slicing them super thin, and throwing a BIG bunch on the tray. Can be several layers and messy as long as you mix it once it is crispy on top. Don't mix more than once and don't mix too early. Mix sweet and regular potato. Comes out AMAZING. :)
I watched this today and made these fries for lunch, great no oil recipe and very tasty with some avocado and ketchup. Thanks for the healthy fry idea I will definitely be making these again!
Since going vegan and eating mostly whole foods, I haven't eaten fries, which next to pizza is probably one of the only junk foods I really miss. Feels so good to be able to get some back into my meals, thanks for the awesome video!
Super dish. I have been eating it for 3 days and counting because I love potatoes. Absolutely delicious and ridiculously simple. I subscribed, please keep sharing such wonderful, amazing and surprisingly simple dishes.
My first time commenting, i love you guys, great meals for a longer life, watch all your videos and follow the meal prep too, from a 65 year old on no pills in NB.
Great fries in oven. I'm watching your video at 7am. You made me hungry- i'm going to go make oven fries for breakfast. Thanks!! God bless you from grandma Katie in Oregon
I make oven fries using Old Bay seasoning. It’s a very popular spice in Maryland USA and surrounding states, and is known for its use on steamed crabs. Makes amazing “fries”! Try it! You’ll like it! 😁
amazingly done, i discovered the trick a couple of weeks ago and i agree it was yummmy and the biggest and the most fantastic junk food turned healthy. I finally can eat fries with out feeling sick. I tried it with butternut squach man that was amazing (without seasoning and salt though) thanks Derek you're awesome
Just discovered your channel, You’ve inspired me!!! Ur upbeat, positive and do ur homework. I’m a mom who’s always cooks healthy just finished the muffins, 👍. bought a silicone mat and giving a try tonight with fries. Keep up the good work!
I found this video at just the right time. For heart healthy reasons I just became a vegan, following Dr. Esselstyn and not using any oil. I cant wait to try these fries tonight!! Thanks for sharing this great recipe.
It's kind of weird to consider literal pure liquid fat as healthy. I would also highly recommend trying the yam fries with peanut sauce. I always find that a well made thai-style peanut sauce complements the flavor of yams so well.
Hey Derek! Love all the amazing content and I hope you know you are an inspiration to many of us! You personally helped me to make the plunge from vegetarian to full fledged vegan. Love it and I feel healthier than ever! Anyway, you mentioned about how these fries are SO much better than "some fries out of a deep fryer" I couldn't agree more! Not sure if its possible, but ever think of doing a recipe series of "Modern American Foods Easily Made Vegan", or something to that avail. It would be awesome to have a bunch of your recipes to bring to a family event that are kinda familiar, but with a vegan spin (i.e. burgers, fries, wings, pizza, etc.) Thanks again for everything! - Drew from Pennsylvania
Wow Derek those fries looks so delicious. thanks for showing us that you don't need oil for them. I'm going to make some of those soon as I buy more potatoes.
I love your energy! The Trader Joe's seasoning sounds interesting! Gonna have to try it! I am DEFINITELY loving the no-oil cooking! Medical Medium says oil's bad for the liver - even the healthy oils, since it's difficult to process - so I am so glad to see your method works! Thanks!
oil is as "bad" for the liver as fructose or protein is. Liver is the one doing the work to process it (and that include extracting anything useful/needed).
Hay Derek love your crisp oven fried recipe without oil. Your right its is so good and crisp wow! We ! Its like going restaurant only without oil and my stomach doesn't feel oily
I’m going to try this tonight, did you flip them at all? I’m so glad you serve bigger portions and not “instagram portions” I eat a lot but still don’t get enough calories so I’m glad to see it’s not just me who eats big
Some funfact for you Derek : Paprika is just the german word for bell pepper and in case you didn't know it is crazy high in Vitamin C, even if it is dried by heat. Keep up the videos. they are awesome ;)
I use parchment paper for a lot of baking, saves washing the baking sheet, lol! Loved the toppings you made, my mouth is watering! I listen and watch your vids while I cook. I now am making black bean burgers for supper.
As someone from Germany (where bell peppers are called ‚Paprika‘) it was admittedly a bit surprising to hear that apparently it’s surprising that paprika is red bell pepper 😁 But thanks for the video! Currently working my way backwards through the channel and I’ve found a lot of amazing content 💕
Yes right here right now. Me too that is why I'm here always want to do better. It sucks being such a fussy eater, that I am.😣😒 😜Next time my pots will be like these😉
Nice to see this! Before last October, I never wold have entertained the idea of no oil because it would seem as if the seasoning would fall right off. We were always told that adding (or cooking with) the oil "brings out the flavor". Well now as a whole food plant based lifestyle, I know it's not true and you make the simplest meals not boring at all. Great work here! What are your thoughts on incorporating honey into your meals? I've read that it is the byproduct of bees and is really THEIR food supply that we are taking from so it should be avoided. And that it has probably been through numerous processing methods so it no longer has the nutritional value.
Thanks for making this video! I have now been plant based vegan for 1 year now, and I'm always looking for ways to do veggies and stuff without oil. I'd love to see more oil free meal ideas! :)
Few years ago i believed that vegans were weird, but that all changed 5 months ago i got pregnant and i couldn't stand any animal products, all I was left with was vegan option. Long story short today m and m family are vegan we regret not doing it early. Thanks to vegan style m pregnancy have been a smooth ride no issue nor vomit or morning sickness none of that crazy stuff i went through m 1st born. Thx for all the tips
Nice, love the option for no oil! I agree that consuming the least processed version of good is a great goal, however I'm a little concerned that people may confuse the idea of avoiding processed fats with the old idea that all fat is bad to eat. Your body needs fat
I love seeing jacked vegans such as yourself sharing delicious traditional comfort foods like this. As much as we need to eat our broccoli, thank you for showing the world that vegans eat a hell of a lot more than just broccoli.
So much love for the potato fries. We cook them on a cookie cooling rack instead and the clean up is super easy and both sides get nice and crispy without having to flip them. Def gotta try your guac recipe! Thanks for sharing! 👌😊
Derek...ur videos make me lol. Ur looney tunes and animated which makes ur videos so appealing while keeping our attention on the main point ...Quick Vegan Cooking! 🤩😁🙃😀 BTW...how do u sharpen ur knives?
Hey Derek, I wanted to ask you if you could make a video about eating with liquids? How much time should you wait after eating to drink? What counts as a liquid? Please🙏🙏🙏
Wow your baked french fries look. Delicious. Going to make sweet potato fries- my favorite!! Great recipe- thanks for sharing. God bless you from grandma Katie in oregon
100% kid approved. She’s making her shopping list 😂 she hates oil. Also “bonus points for kitty” Also she said to tell you that is NOT a little squirt. That’s a big one
Simnett Nutrition she does too 😂 I’m always buying ketchup. Making fries now. You made her day. She loves homemade fries but I’m not much of a cook. Now that my Mom lives in Texas and we’re in NY she doesn’t get home cooked fries to much
Another great tip is to briefly boil the potatoes in lightly salted water, they will turn completely crisp on the outside and nice and soft on the inside!!
You're the reason I stopped using oils, went vegan whole food plant based, began intermittent fasting, and improved my workouts immensely! 👍 Thank you so so much for that 😄

Youre the reason i stopped using oils! especially on my potatoes. Keep it up bro.
Might be the best looking plate of fries on the internet right now.
looking like a SNACK
Yes Casey now you can enjoy them with deer heart 😉
aw remember when you didnt contribute to animal enslavement and suffering
Shut up traitor
You should make some for once instead of torturing yourself :DD
Ha! I made some yam fries earlier today and didn’t want to use oil. I sprinkled some water on instead but they got too soft. Thank you for showing me that no water is necessary even though I figured that out the hard way. Definitely trying to stay away from oils when possible.

Whoop whoop another dose of simnett. Only channel I genuinely look forward to every time
Haha I love the support! Spring is here, I'm going to up my game! Lots more to come :D
I made both kinds tonight without any oil! Wow! Delicious!!!!!
That tip about adding the salt AFTER just changed my life!
But he added it before putting them in the oven?? I’m confused!
@@ebe5719 I'm confused too? I was wondering the same thing?
@@ebe5719 that wasn’t salt, it was herbs/spices/seasoning 🙏🏽
Today I am making my homemade fries very 1st time which

Yes! The avocado surprise lol! I love it when you open it and it's just perfect. Yum!
I had no idea paprika is just dried pepper! Learn something new every day :)
Try slicing them super thin, and throwing a BIG bunch on the tray. Can be several layers and messy as long as you mix it once it is crispy on top. Don't mix more than once and don't mix too early. Mix sweet and regular potato. Comes out AMAZING. :)

Looks soooo delicious!! Love that you're onboard with being oil free!! It was so essential for me to finally lose weight!
Super dish.
I have been eating it for 3 days and counting because I love potatoes.
Absolutely delicious and ridiculously simple.
I subscribed, please keep sharing such wonderful, amazing and surprisingly simple dishes.
I was like "How is he cutting that yam so easily? Must be a good knife."
Then I remembered it's because he's jacked.
Holly Cappelmann I bought the same thing lol
Hahaha makes sense I thought first I should get a better knife 😂😂😂
That knife he’s using is 100 quid though
My first time commenting, i love you guys, great meals for a longer life, watch all your videos and follow the meal prep too, from a 65 year old on no pills in NB.
Great fries in oven. I'm watching your video at 7am. You made me hungry- i'm going to go make oven fries for breakfast. Thanks!! God bless you from grandma Katie in Oregon

Yummy...Looks fantastic. I never ate avocados but now that today was my first Vegan day I may learn to like avocados !
I've stopped cooking with oil since finding yours and JVs channel. I dont miss it one bit. And my digestive system is happy :)
Just discovered your channel, You’ve inspired me!!! Ur upbeat, positive and do ur homework. I’m a mom who’s always cooks healthy just finished the muffins, 👍. bought a silicone mat and giving a try tonight with fries. Keep up the good work!
Lova lova fries !!!!
Thanx for the vid !!!
I did it. I made my version of this dish. Thanks for being such an inspection.
I found this video at just the right time. For heart healthy reasons I just became a vegan, following Dr. Esselstyn and not using any oil. I cant wait to try these fries tonight!! Thanks for sharing this great recipe.
Omg these look AMAZING! Can't wait to make this! Thanks Derek! Love your channel! Trisha from Ireland

I would also highly recommend trying the yam fries with peanut sauce. I always find that a well made thai-style peanut sauce complements the flavor of yams so well.
you do know that peanuts are 100% fat right?
It's not unhealthy(if it's a good quality oil) it's just high in calories which has nothing to do with "healthiness"
@@Lauren-vd4qe Peanuts are also full of protein, with a small amount of carbs/fiber. They also have iron, potassium, etc.
Soo good! Try the yam fries with bbq sauce, my favorite!!
This looks amazing 🤤 telling my husband we don’t have to give up fries to be healthy just the processed Fries!!! We will we doing this today!!

Can't wait to try this! Also, bell pepper is called paprika in Swedish, so I did know that :D Love your vids!
OMG! I so glad I found you! I don't eat oil either! I always have to change recipes.
Can you do an oil free and gluten free falafel?

Thanks for the Paprika fact! Legit blew my mind 😂 as i always thought it was other stuff put together
Looks lovely! Btw, I’m amazed at how you can eat greens like Kale without any dressing... wow. 😀
I agree. Kale is nasty.
Hay Derek love your crisp oven fried recipe without oil. Your right its is so good and crisp wow! We ! Its like going restaurant only without oil and my stomach doesn't feel oily
Definitely, best channel on youtube!
By now I press the like button even before I start watching your vids. You never disappoint!
Derek, awesome idea. I didn't think you could make them crunch without oiling them up. I am going to make sure to try this soon.
OMG! I absolutely love this! Just shows it doesn't have to be complicated to be yummy!
when you added the onion I started smiling! It have to try it!!! Very nice recipe. Thank you !
I love all of the information you give on your videos. I am new to being and nutritarian/vegan all of your sauces do save me. Thank you so much.
Delicious! Try some cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice on the sweet potato fries! Tastes like a dessert. If you do sugar you can dip them in maple syrup.
Awesome!!! Going to make for my lunch today..Thanks for sharing the recipies
Made these with my 10 year old son. He loved them! Thank you!
Was super excited to see this. Potato is one of the few veggies I get here! That an egg plants. Do you have any great egg plant ideas??
A hack for the sweet potatoes before baking is to soak them for a bit in water. That way they are moister after cooking.
Although this video was uploaded more than 4 years ago....still very helpful! Thank you Derek!
You are amazing with food Derek!! Omg I’m always so hungry when I’m done watching your learning videos.
I've never even smoked weed, but when you said turn the oven to 420 my automatic response was "blaze it"
poor you
You should smoke some weed
BAKED potato ... see what I did there

Worm739 he already did, in one of those he answers comments check it out last one
u can drink half an hour after your meal or a bit before.

Looks awesome! You should try out an air fryer. It's a pretty handy machine and the food comes out great.
I’m so thankful for finding your channel! I love your energy.
Thank you for making videos.
I was just thinking about this the other day! so happy ur the one who uploaded this recipe 😍
Awesome!!! Love your recipe videos. Keep them coming.
In holland we call the "Bell pepper" Paprika. Peppers are those long, chilli hot one :)
Great tip, thanks!
We do it in Belgium too! 🤣
1:11 oil is not a health food, thank you for saying that ! I usually put aquafaba on my oven fries, extra crisp guaranteed !
These look delicious. I've never tried fries without oil before. I probably will very soon. Thanks for sharing.. :)
Another great tip is to briefly boil the potatoes in lightly salted water, they will turn completely crisp on the outside and nice and soft on the inside!!
Derek! You have to try dipping the yams in maple syrup! Sooo gooood
Thanks Derek for the great ideas and recipes.
Your videos are great and very informative.
please keep it up
